Before my first cruise, a neighbor came by to give me some advice. He said he always smuggled some vodka aboard and brought a blender because there was so much fruit available on the buffet, and he could make his fruity blender drinks in his room. Never tried it.

The wellness check is two or three questions at most. You can do it while you are at the port. If you forget, or you don’t have Wi-Fi access, they will just ask you those same questions during the check-in.
