Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. What is the time range available for boarding? The way I'm reading this it seems you pick a time spot when doing online check in? Embarking in Reykjavik. Thank you
  2. Last year we booked a BtoB cruise under O Life. When Simply More was offered we compared the benefits and decided to stay with O Life. Shore excursions have finally become available to book. We have 3 included excursions for each of us per segment. Looking at the booking page i know we can't book OS or OE excursions for our included tours. My questions are: * to book the included excursions do we just pick the 3 we want (on line)? Will it show up as n/c? * I notice that we need to book a minimum of 5 excursions to get the 25% off. Can we book any tour(including the OS and OE) to get the 25% off and pay the Simply More price? Thank you.
  3. Checked with our TA about booking flights back home from LHR after arriving in southampton port on Regent. She then contacted Regent and their reply was to not book anything before 2pm. So that's what we'll do. Should give us lots of time.
  4. Just back. Couldn't find anyone who could tell me what might have been done in drydock...in fact they didn't know about any recent drydock. So unfortunately can't help with that. The ship seems in good shape. Food was decent and plentiful. DH thought it was a bit bland but I didn't. Different strokes! Dinner starts at 730pm and we never got out before 930pm. Late dining is not to our liking. The weather was mostly overcast and windy which led to the ship really rocking. We've been on Many cruises but this was 1 for the books. So many folks not being able to sleep due to the ships motion. While sitting in the dining room1 lady in our group had her chair go over backwards...thankfully someone caught her before she hit the ground. Staff great..cheerful and helpful. Cabin small but sufficient for our needs. There is a sideboard on the bed to protect people from rolling off the bed. Think of a guard rail on a toddler bed, many were so grateful for it. No fridge in room, 1 big water bottle, small safe. Shower takes getting used to..flooded the bathroom floor first couple times. Lol. Lovely to watch the sails come up! No elevator, narrow stairs going from outside deck to deck. Would we sail on ship again..no. just not for us. Others liked it. If you had any questions, ask and I'll try to answer. Cheers
  5. Unsure what was done but we sail on her 1 week today. Cheers
  6. And that's why I said they knew the risk. This post wasn't to discuss that it was to inform the process of getting permission.
  7. LadyPubnico...we traveled to Egypt Feb 2022 with friends. One of them is prescribed methadone for pain management and on a stable dose for many years. Checking with the Egyptian consulate in Canada they were told this prescription is not allowed without prior written approval. They went through the process to get this approved (lengthy and expensive). The letter they needed arrived at their home 2 days after they flew out. When we arrived in Cairo they got their visa on arrival and went through passport control. No one checked or asked or anything about medications. Not sure if this is helpful or not but our friends did their due diligence regarding the banned medication and no one seemed to care or check once got there. They knew there was a risk by not having it with them. Egypt passport control couldn't have cared less; they looked so disinterested as we went through. Just our experience with Egypt and medication.
  8. Looking for any information as to what was done to Royal Clipper during this dry dock? Tried searching but couldn't find anything other than the dates. Thank you.
  9. We flew Edmonton to Seattle to Singapore....in Feb 2019. Singapore Airlines..16.5 hours! We gave ourselves couple extra days in Singapore before a cruise..
  10. We are sailing on an itinerary that ends in Bangkok, then overnights there. We plan on disembarking the first of the 2 days we'll be in that port (due to flight arrangements). Our TA had to get permission from Oceania to leave 1 day early...we have it in writing. I know of 1 couple who tried for permission to disembark a few days early and were denied (due to that port being a tendered port). There was no extra charge for us leaving early.
  11. I find planes can often be cold so we wear a hoodie during the cab ride to the airport and back. The hoodie keeps me warm on the planes especially since airlines don't seem to have an abundance of very thin blankets anymore! We don't bring our winter gear with us to the airport. I slip a pair of mini gloves in my backpack just in case it's really cold coming back. Now that we live in an airport city it's so much more pleasant just jumping in a warm cab for a 30 minute ride home as opposed to getting a shuttle bus to parking lot, starting a cold vehicle, brushing off snow and driving 3 hours! Did that for over 30 years!
  12. Karscott..we probably did same flight as you on Aug 17. Flew to Athens arriving an hour late so closer to noon. Luggage arrived (yeah) and got taxi to hotel. Our hotel was in plaka area so close to everything we wanted to see. One thing to remember is it's likely to be really hot and humid (was 33C) . When we got to the hotel our room was ready so we checked in and had a shower and napped a few hours. Not sure about you but we didn't and don't sleep much on the plane. If you are flying business and have the lay flat seats you'll probably sleep on the plane. After our nap we went out and had a bite to eat. We then walked around to see some of the sites. We are in our 60's and found the heat quite draining. First thing next morning we did Acropolis and it was so busy..seems others had same thought to climb to it early on! Still really hot though. Later on, we grabbed a cab to go to port for our cruise. Just a reminder to stay hydrated..we saw a couple folks who experienced heat exhaustion. Have a great trip.
  13. Flew yesterday Air Canada Yeg to yyz to Athens. Felt like normal times..flights full, luggage arrived. 1 hour delay leaving Yyz due to late incoming flight (due to thunderstorm yesterday). Not going to complain..
  14. Seebiesgrammy..we are on the same cruise as you. We are doing the Victoria Falls and Chobe pretour. Perhaps join our roll call for this sailing? Cheers

    Visa Question

We were in Egypt Feb 2022 for a Nile cruise. You can buy an e-visa online but if you enter something incorrectly you have to redo it and pay again. There is an visa on arrival that is so simple... Before you go through passport control you stop at the visa window, pay $25 USD cash and they give you the sticker for your passport. No paperwork, didn't check anything. Then off to passport window and away you go. So easy. Can't help you with visa (if needed) for Israel.
