Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My friend had needed stitches in her head just before our cruise. She brought scissors to remove them herself but the stitches were too tight for her to do so. She just went to the infirmary during open hours and they removed them for her. I believe they charged 100. to do so. She submitted the claim to her health insurance when we got back and they reimbursed part.
  2. I can arrange the car service from any hotel, train station or airport. I am looking for the best hotel option either in NY or Newark knowing that transport to the ship is not a consideration.
  3. I have a casino offer from Carnival that provides free transportation from hotel or airport to and from the ship.. We are cruising 12/6 on the carnival Venezia for a one way trip to Florida. I normally park at the terminal but that is not an option since we will be flying home from Manhattan. We are ideally looking for a clean room that will sleep three hopefully in a room with two double beds and a sleep sofa. We are really only looking for someplace to rest the night before the cruise as we have been to NY before. Hopefully with decent food choices nearby. We are high on convenience. Our budget is around 450 for the night but we are flexible.
  4. I have a similar question, we will be coming from Boston to the Manhattan cruise terminal. However our cruise is a one way trip from NY to Port Canaveral, so driving is out. We are planning on taking the train the day before. we have free transportation to the ship from the cruise line, but I am not sure whether we should take the train to Newark or into Manhattan. Where would our best hotel options be for three woman.
  5. Thanks, we were able to book the Hampton Inn and Suites on Carondelet ST with 2 queen and i sofa bed for a little over our original budget.
  6. thanks i'll check both of these out
  7. I will be in New Orleans December 1 for two nights prior to the Glory 14 day Panama cruise. I will be cruising with two friends. We are looking for a hotel in or near the French quarter where it will be easy to get around. The difficult part is we would like three individual beds, either two doubles and a fold out couch or a hotel with two beds and a roll away bed. I can't seem to find any. Our budget is up to 350 per night. We currently have a hampton inn and suites booked but it is in elmwood/clearview parkway. We think it is a little further away than we would like. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts
  8. thanks,, I do plan on using GPS as well. I just wanted to make sure I was using the best possible rate
  9. Several years ago, I drove to Manhattan for a cruise and received incredible driving directions on this forum. I have searched for several days and can't find them again. I am driving on 6/19th for a cruise on the Venezia. I am driving from the Boston Area direct to the terminal the morning of the cruise. I believe I will be taking the Mass Pike to 84. Does anyone have a copy of these directions that they can link to? or can anyone provide a similar set of directions. I believe they even came with pictures of the parking garage at the terminal. I remember them being better than the GPS directions in the car. Thanks in advance for any help.
  10. I have bought from Effy on board and am pleased with my purchases. One piece broke and after contacting the company it was repaired and returned to me within 3 weeks at absolutely no cost to me. They sent a prepaid insured label to return the piece to them, and then reconfirmed my address and returned the repaired piece back to me.
  11. I get a lot of casino offers under my VIFP number. The excel suites did not show up as available cabins to book under my number. The Carnival Rep I talked to told me that it had to do with my offer code, certain cabins were blocked I could see the suites under my mother's VIFP number.
  12. I also do this all the time when I book a family vacation. There are usually 10 of us. A few get really good casino offers &/or have higher status. We arrange the rooms to take advantage of the best price. Once on board We wait for the guest services line to be manageable and switch everyone to the room they will be staying. Everyone is issued new cards to the correct room. As Wemjam said, we just set up the accounts accordingly. We do the actual switch as we are not often together, ie who likes inside cabins who likes the center, who likes the back. Which means we are not in the same muster station. Although it is a remote possibility I wouldn't want to be sleeping in one muster station but assigned to one far away, nor split from whom is in my immediate travelling party.
  13. We are three friends traveling on a Carnival Panama Canal Cruise. Our cruise is not until 12/2023 but we are doing early research. We are flying into New Orleans 2 nights prior to the sailing as 2 of us have never been. As we are flying we will not have a car so we think we would like a hotel that is near the French quarter so that we can venture out via foot or public transportation. We have complimentary transportation to the ship so distance to the port is not an issue. We range in age from 61-82 so would prefer easy and convenient. If there is another area we should consider staying we are open to suggestions The issue we are running into is that we would each like our own bed. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel with either 2 queens and a sofa bed or the ability to bring in a roll a way bed that is under 400 per night. Or a hotel where we could get adjoining rooms for under 200 per night?
  14. Thank you, you are confirming what I already thought. I will call and switch back to the balcony. It wouldnt be worth the worry.
