Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We docked in Hamburg on Oct. 15. It was 12 Euros for the Shuttle that dropped us off at a mall near the city hall. We took a hop on / hop off bus. We rode it around the loop, then got off at St. Michael's. The church was beautiful. We walked down to the Elbphilharmonie, then used the pedestrian tunnel under the Elbe to walk back, but we could have taken the bus back to the shuttle.
  2. We just got back from the Euribia. , For the theater shows, you have to book the day of (or the night before) when the activities for the day become available in the MSC for me app. There was a shuttle to Rotterdam Centraal station but I did not see an excursion to Amsterdam. However, it was a short walk from the ship to a Metro stop, then we rode the D train to Rotterdam Centraal, I think that was 4 stops. At Rotterdam Centraal, we got a train to Amsterdam Centraal, that ride was about 40 minutes, It was very easy, we only speak English and had never been to Europe before. As long as you can tap in and out of the gates for the subways and trains, you won't have trouble. I did put an app (NS, I think) for the Netherlands Rail on my phone, which made it easy to see train times.
  3. We just disembarked in Southampton and were at the National Express station by 8:30. We got a 9:30 bus and were at Victoria station around Noon. I'm not sure of the train schedules, but the train station is even closer to the cruise terminal.
  4. We're cruising on the Euribia late this fall. The shore excursions PDF has excursions listed on Embarkation Day but they are not on the app. The Customer service folks I called said they could book those for us but could not explain how it would work with embarkation and said, that would be a question for the "onboard" staff. Obviously, we can't ask the onboard staff until we are on board. A classic catch-22 but not completely surprising from MSC. Has anyone taken an excursion on embarkation day? If so, how does that work, logistically? Thank you!!
  5. I know this is a stretch but we're cruising on the Euribia late this fall. The shore excursions PDF has excursions listed on Embarkation Day but they are not on the app. The Customer service folks I called said they could book those for us but could not explain how it would work with embarkation and that would be a question for the "onboard" staff. Could you ask about this at the Shore Excursion desk or maybe ask if someone there would be able to message me? I can send you my What's App number. If that's too big an ask, I understand. I hope you are enjoying your cruise.
  6. We were not in Yacht Club, but on our recent Meraviglia cruise, we arrived at around 10 and I think boarding started a little after 11:00. I'm sure the YC passengers boarded first, but the last debarkation times on our cruise were 9:30, I think. So it's hard for me to believe that anyone could board much before 10:30.
  7. I would definitely try an urgent care and get the patches before the cruise. I usually post some small review and will be on the Meraviglia in a few weeks, and will try to pay attention to any motion.
  8. Based on my experience, it’s possible that one ship (Virtuosa) could have a strong group putting on their shows, while the group on the Meraviglia is struggling. I’ve seen some shows on Carnival trips that were amazing and on other ships, you wish you could get that time back. I probably would not pay anything to see a show on a cruise, but I’d be disappointed if I did and the performance was lacking, I’d be upset.
  9. I’m struggling with my booking in the Fall and support has been unable to assist me. I emailed the existing reservations address above. Thank you for providing that.
  10. I'm sure that the logistics of adding or removing staff based on passenger capacity would be a nightmare. I expect they would try and keep their ships staffed to a certain level at all times. That doesn't explain major shortages, however. Like any hospitality provider, they should know how many people will be on the ship and have fairly reliable projections on what they need to source to provide for them. I'm cruising on the Meraviglia in February, so I'll get to form my own opinion soon enough.
  11. Although I don't have the answers that the OP is looking for, for anyone struggling with the font, their post reads: "Hello all, just wondering what free beverages are served in the buffet during Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner? Also if anyone knows how fast are the streaming internet speeds on the Divina."
  12. Maybe I'm going right before Spring break, but I have a drink package on a 4-day sailing on the Meraviglia at the end of February. I got the Easy Plus package and wi-fi when I booked, the wi-fi plan is shown as "2 devices".
  13. I booked a cruise this weekend and was able to include the Easy Plus Package and wi-fi (which I probably would have purchased anyway) for an additional $100. I'm not sure how long that promotion will run for, but you might check on that. Other than that, since we're cruising with family, I booked "Fantastica" level cabins, so I could choose the rooms and get everyone on the same deck.
