Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I had them hidden in our guest room, where my sister was staying, and they were in target bags, and she had her crap in target bags and they just got mixed up. Totally unintentional, as she thought she was cleaning up her garbage.
  2. I’m kind of hoping for the fanny pack, I can’t remember how many years ago the duffle bag they gave us was, so I’d like to try and shoot for the matching set! LOL. I thought I saw it was part of a series with a tote and toiletry bag? Yes, please retire those useless koozies! I saw some guy on a video made a vest out of them, wonder if it floats 🤣
  3. In case anyone wants an update…. finally! They cancelled the lost gift cards and my points were refunded and I could re-order the cards and just got the replacements in the mail. Whew! Just in tme for the cruise!
  4. Oh! I just thought of another incident - because Cozumel, right? The first cruise my husband and I took post babies/first trip without kids we got so hammered at an AI that we left all our souvenirs behind at the resort. I mean, who hasn’t done that in Coz? Now, if we have time after our activities, we stop to shop, otherwise we just move along LOL. Don’t want to be the pier runners again like that one year….
  5. Yeah, that’s on my list first thing tomorrow if open or Monday. Fingers crossed they can track them. They are second party so I may be out of luck. Just dumb!
  6. So…my kids were helping me clean house for Thanksgiving earlier this week and I think they threw $400 in Carnival gift cards in the garbage. Yep. In the garbage that got picked up on Tuesday. It’s making me just sick! I’m having flashbacks to the year my sister came to visit for Christmas and thought the plastic bags in the corner of the guest room was garbage and threw away all my husband’s gifts for that year. Here’s to hoping this is the only mishap! First world problems, not the worst thing to happen so we’ll live, but has this ever happened to you?
  7. I have a 15yo g & 17yo b…we have always booked one cabin for all for of us, focus is family vacation since we know times are changing and they are growing up and we will only have so many family trips left of our core unit. Here’s our takeaways from what they told us after our last cruise (they’ve only done carnival): -This cruise was way more fun than the others when we were younger -more independence, we let them pal around together and our older son was happy to keep his younger sister safe (but they get along really well and are close) -we didn’t force them to go to the camps for teens -bored of the ship (did this one more than once) -favorite part was visiting the ports and doing the AIs at the beaches -never do spring break again it was awful -they actually enjoyed the time we spent playing yahtzee and eating evening dinners as a family -they thought that bringing a 12 pack of their favorite soda was awesome and didn’t even care about the bottomless bubbles packages -they loved that we got them each a $100 gift card (using points elsewhere) for carnival to spend as they chose on what they wanted without having to check in. anything above was their expense -since they’ve been traveling since they were little they kind of know the drill and don’t make it a huge deal if a curveball gets thrown our way. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. So, this upcoming cruise the main goal was to do a completely different kind of ship on Carnival. I don’t think the line you choose matters as much as how your kids handle travel in general. They are all pretty similar with activities and food, because that is what works and what sells.
  8. *sing it with me now* Anticipation. That’s what they should have named her because that’s all I feel. I love the digging and the research and the filling of the brain with knowledge of all the things for a Vacation. I’m being forced to learn the virtue of the great unknown. The patience, anxiously awaiting her arrival after sea trials - and awaiting the first sail review. A post-trip overview perhaps….or a Live From the Jubilee - better yet! I feel guilty for even hoping someone will do me the favor of spilling the tea since I, myself, have never had the courage to write one. Although I’ve wanted to with the best of intentions. Alas. No FunTimes to dive into in advance. No idea if the Jubilee is using the same old menu or the combo old and new…or could it possibly be a brand new Emeril flavored dining extravaganza? No Dive-In movie announcements yet. Exciting new roller coaster and cooking classes…new cocktails to explore. I can hardly take the unknowing of it all! I suppose I could scroll through Mardi Gras posts or Celebration menus but would it even compare or be the same? They are promising this to be a ship and experience like none of the others. It’s a bit like being lost at sea…but at least what I do know is I will get to board the Anticipation, I mean Jubilee, soon and that will have to be enough knowing for now. How about you fellow Jubilee-ers?
  9. Thank you! I should have asked in the original and will edit - is it slot, tab or dauber sheets? I’ll bring a dauber if so. It’s fun most of the time, it depends on whether you ever win or not HAHA! J/K. I have fun. I like the traditional bingo with the paper packets and daubers. A lot of people where I go use the machines and I think those are boring, you just punch in the call. It’s been years since I tried on a ship and it went so fast I don’t really remember it or what was used to play.
  10. Hi, I did a search but the function hasn’t been working today. What is the current price for the bingo sessions? It’s been a while since I’ve played on the ship and back then it was $25. Thank you!
  11. Did you hang out at Alchemy? Do you know who the bartenders were and if they are still on contract? Just wondering…
  12. @DreadPirateRobert did you go to the Alchemy at all? Curious if it was super busy and who the bartenders are right now.
  13. OP didn’t really say what the food allergies are, so it is kind of difficult to make suggestions based on anything - whatever kid friendly is. That should be clarified for real suggestions. Kid friendly to me sounds like junk food - run of the mill processed food like mac and cheese and nuggets, fries, pizza - which is usually full of gluten and oils that are allergens. There’s plenty of that on the ships. The salad bar is decent, so they must not like vegetables, and there is a ton of fruit, so they must not like that either. If there were really big concerns, the maitre d or the menus offer up alternatives, they make it super clear you can ask for it. That being said, we don’t have food allergies so our kids were raised just eating the meals I would cook, and still even as teens prefer veggies and fruits. Kids are products of their environment unless there are real medical issues/allergies and sensitivities involved. We’ve never had problems with the kids eating or finding SOMETHING on a cruise.
