Most of the 'to pay for' meals can be asked for in QG. I say 'most' as there are Verandah dishes which apparently, engender a 'no, sorry'. I have had a few 'pop up' meals in QG and sometimes they come from the pop up galley and sometimes, the QG galley. If from the QG galley, don't assume it will be the same, make sure you specify exactly what you want as there can be QG interpretations on a theme, eg when asking for Bamboo Mandarin Crispy Chilli Beef, make sure you ask for egg fried rice to be included otherwise there's a heck of a lot of Crispy Chilli Beef to consume! 🙂

Whilst I wouldn't advocate any towels on the chairs scenario, I don't think the QM2 library itself can be beaten on any Cunard ship for snuggling down [in public inside areas] with a great book. Wonderful place. 😀

I think so but not sure. The benefits will be per person. We get the 'huge' $135 internet allowance per person and it took a couple of cruises post Covid to get my brain in gear and see that utilising both allowances judiciously on a per day basis was cheaper on a two weeker than just one of us taking out a 'whole voyage' plan at $18 per day.

Don't forget to take into consideration buchanan101 , if you're travelling with a companion [who has the same amount of Wi-Fi loyalty credit, if you take a whole voyage plan, it comes off one passenger's allowance and maybe over the 'given' amount. In sharing the wi-fi connection, we take out a 24hr per day plan on the day after embarkation. Utilising both allowances and judicious timing when taking the next 24hrs out, we can just about get away with a small $ debit to our onboard account on a two weeker.

Definitely worth booking onboard then transferring the booking to your agent if the cabins required are available [no touting around, just a transfer to our own agent]. Low deposit and extra obc in addition to the brochure obc and some agents give discount too.

I tend to 'recycle' evening wear occasionally as I have favourites even tho' I have enough to wear for the duration, and couldn't care less what others might think, that's if it's even noticed! No need to make a dining venue safari as no offense would be taken. Call it judicious evening dress planning! 👍

I also dress what is probably considered beyond the required and as I rarely wear dresses unless they're long, for non Gala evenings, I wear dress/evening trousers and beautiful tops/jackets. I might pack a ballerina length dress to ring the changes but that will depend how little I want to take as we too, try and pack 'light' when flying, if we can. If flying, I just take a few pairs of black trousers and co ordinate the tops accordingly.

and can be overbearingly hot too and that's on non sunny cruises. Layers, which for me of an evening means delicate pashminas. The silk or cashmere ones pack into nothing and are a vital part of my evening get ups.

Onboard [inside!] I would see no difference from other Cunard itineraries and would pack appropriately. Re outdoor clothing, our Alaska cruises were July and August and it wasn't cold. Sometimes downright hot and so having managed a couple [not Cunard] my advice would be a fleece jacket and a light waterproof [kagoul in my case] which doubles as a windcheater. Layers are the clue to any potential 'cold water' cruises and if the cruises are May/early June or September, I would anticipate cold at some point and layers would definitely be my advice.

Inevitable, but a real shame for those onboard. Walvis Bay was an amazing stop for us. Tenerife is pretty mundane in comparison.

I'm no maritime expert but I wouldn't have thought anyone needed five mins of fame, never mind 15 as far as safety at seas is concerned. It happened, it's over and no one got hurt, hopefully. 🙂

I'm one of those pragmatic folk who think if the Bridge deem it appropriate to announce anything, then it's announced and at whatever moment they choose. After all, they have a little experience in these things!

When Cunard promoted their 'sunshine cruises to nowhere' summer'22, we booked QE for the first July one which was cancelled [one of very many cancellations for us] and the insurance question was a real issue. As our bank insurance was dithering as to whether they could add a clause which allowed a cruise to nowhere which they did but after we'd made sure by booking a single travel policy with Staysure. However, not being used to single polices, we then realised as we were in international waters near Spain and had to add Spain as an extra which bumped up the premium, not by a lot but was annoying as we didn't sail! Interesting. We were informed, on asking why, it's to do with the cost of their private hospitals. Not something we were used to as our annual ins. covers us world wide.
