Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Been on the Sun many times. There is a crew elevator that we have used if you are lugging around your luggage.
  2. I see your point. I should have said closest.
  3. For those that want to do it on the cheap you can ride the local transit. The last bus stop is about 1.5 miles from the Mendenhall Visitors Center. If you are inclined it's easy to walk and handicap accessible. Bus fare is $2.00 one way. Check out Juneau Capital Transit for info.
  4. Wish I had seen this earlier so it would be relevant, but attached is a current NCL Discount with another 50% discount on an Alaskan Cruise on either the Spirit, Sun, or Jewell. Log in to your account and check your Coupons and Credits. Just for giggles I called my PCC and asked for a price on the Sun (last Alaskan cruise this season) in an Inside Gty with insurance. $1350.00 This coupon expires on 08-10-23 in my case.
  5. Just to add to this topic, my PCC said she gets credit if one books a cruise on the ship.
  6. So, can you tell us what casino game you did well at? Slot machine? Where? Glad you had a good time.
  7. Two questions please, in regards to the Muster Drill, what was the procedure this time around and the cabin steward duties. To my understanding the cabin stewards only service your cabin one time a day. Can one pick the morning or turn down in the early evening? Someone else has mentioned that the cabin stewards work a straight shift meaning they have no time off in the afternoon to go ashore. That would be tough on the cabin steward in my opinion. Briefly, can you correct me on my understanding and describe what we can expect from the cabin steward now? TYIA
  8. Question about entertainment, are they still offering two shows a night? The usual mix of comedian, Broadway, and magician/juggler? I should have directed my question to the Stardust Theater. It’s been reported on some of the larger NCL ships that some of the shows have been discontinued and the performers sent home so I was curious if there were two shows a night in the Stardust.

  10. I think I kind of agree with this thought. Some times when negotiating an excursion I'll bargain with the "Front Man" and see what they will actually take for an excursion. Then I love to tip the tour guide who does the real work an extra sum. So, go down to the Front Desk and tell them the service isn't up to par compared to past cruises you've been on. You have to be careful not to put the cabin steward in a bad light or they will catch the wrath from their superior. Then at the end of the cruise tip your cabin steward generously with what you saved if you are so inclined. An interesting little story for you. Years ago we forgot the tip envelope on the last night of the cruise in the Dining Room. After eating I went back to the room for the envelope and proceeded to take it back to the Dining Room. The doors were closed and I opened one and nobody was in the room. I went in to try and find a our waiter or maitre'd and saw a table that had three piles of envelopes and money laying there. WOW! It blew me away the amount of money that was just laying there. I put my envelope down on one of the piles and I was out of there! My guess that was Maitre'd money as I don't think three waiters would sit around a table and open their envelopes.
  11. Sometimes we except what is given. Try contacting your PCC and see if they can't make something happen for you. If you don't ask you never know. Case in point, I recently made a reservation and during the booking I asked my PCC if she couldn't twist an arm or two and get me a discount. She paused for a minute and says btw I can do this for you. How about 50% off your cruise fare. DAM!! I said this sounds to good to be true. What's the catch? I was dumb founded. I said sign me up!! Now, I have to ask myself why didn't she offer that in the first place?
  12. Is there any updated crew member information for the NCL Sun. As a side note we take vanilla creamers with us when we cruise. We always bring extra. It is a great conversation starter with the wait staff and the Maitre'd. We love to share and it comes back many fold. Crew remember the creamer lady!!
  13. We went through our NCL PCC and requested a Diamond upgrade for my wife as I have already used mine. We are past the previous one year limit that I have mentioned in the past. Back in January I asked my PCC about the one year limitation and she said NCL wasn’t abiding by it anymore. Yesterday, NCL responded via email with the upgrade from Gty OV to a Balcony that was requested on 3/23/23. The email that I received actually showed the email request from our PCC to latitude support @ ncl.com. As some have mentioned in the past one can request a particular room. I noted in the email that our PCC did ask for a specific room unbeknownst to me, but the room that was assigned was just a few doors down which put us closer to the dining room and the breakfast buffet. We’re very satisfied with the perk.
  14. Just an update, since the Diamond upgrade perk went into effect a year ago it had a one year limitation. According to my NCL PCC that limitation has been dropped. We used our (mine) first upgrade (OV to Balcony) last October sailing from Seattle to Miami and plan to use my wife's Upgrade Perk this Spring on an Alaskan cruise.
  15. As an update to my question regarding the one year limitation on the Diamond Upgrade, my NCL Cruise Consultant tells me the 1 year limitation has been dropped.
