Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just to give a different perspective to the room configuration. We really enjoy the new star layout with the bed by the window for a couple of reasons. 1) I really like to look out the window while lying in bed. 2) I am a morning person, while my spouse is not, so I like how I can pull the dividing curtain between the bed area and the living area. I can get ready and come and go out of the room without much disturbance. Another note, for an FYI, on our last cruise, we decided to save a bit of money and booked the star porthole suite on the Pride. We really liked being on floor 3. It was relatively quiet, felt much less motion on 3, and it felt a bit cooler on 3 than on the upper decks. Of course, I missed the large window, but I wouldn't hesitate to book a porthole suite again.
  2. Thank you for posting your SP cabin review mrgacruzr! We will be in an SP cabin on the the Pride, 303, and I couldn't find hardly any reviews or photos (other than the Windstar photo) of these cabins. Glad you enjoyed the room, it's A/C, and I'm sure you enjoyed the bit of extra savings. We are usually only in our room for sleeping and showering, so the SP cabin sounded perfect for us.
  3. Thanks all for the very thoughtful replies! I will definitely research more into AMA and Emerald.
  4. I have just started researching, and my head is spinning. My daughter (22yo) and I (50+yo) are looking at doing a river cruise next summer (2023). My daughter wants something active as she enjoys hiking and walking. I have read a bit about Avalon Active and Discovery cruises as well as U by Uniworld. We really are just looking at something that would appeal to both of us with lots of active excursions available but also cultural and history ones too, maybe geared to a slightly younger crowd than the typical 60's and 70's. Are these the 2 cruise categories we should be looking at? Is there anything else that I should look into. Also, once we settle on the cruise line, is there a particular river or route that would be better for active travelers looking for beautiful scenery as well? Thanks so much for any suggestions! Just as a note, we will probably endcap the cruise with a diy hiking and scenery week by train in either Switzerland Germany or Austria.
