Seeking advice on choosing a hotel in Vancouver

Recommended Posts

We will be spending two nights, post-cruise, in Vancouver next summer. We are hoping to use hiltonhonors points for the stay, so we could choose among Hiltons, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inns, and the others in that "family". Would anyone have any insights about which location may be best if we do not plan to rent a car? Thanks.

The only member of the Hilton family in downtown Vancouver at the present time is the Hampton Inn and Suites on Robson - there are plans to build a Hilton downtown next door to the Hampton but construction hasn't started yet - any other Hilton location are either near the Airport or Metrotown so if you aren't going to rent a car and you don't really need one in Downtown go with the Hampton Inn.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Dennis

The Hampton Inn & Suites offers a complimentary shuttle service in the downtown area including the cruise terminals as well as a free breakfast. However they do not offer an airport shuttle service so your options are taxi at about $35, limo for $10 more or the Airporter shuttle service at $13.75pp or $22 rnd. trip.

The Hilton @ Metrotown is next door to BC's largest shopping mall, and also the direct Skytrain transit line to downtown (which terminates at Canada Place cruise terminal). At first glance it may not seem like a good location, but if you're comfortable on a subway/elevated train, Skytrain makes it handy to just about everything. Transit (all buses, Skytrain etc) is just $3.75/90 mins or $9/day.
