Probably a stupid question, but...

Cruising the Med and plan on ordering a pot of tea from room service as soon as I wake up every morning. What would be the appropriate tip--one Euro? (I'm not ordering full breakfast, just a pot of tea)

Personally, I think that's high for a pot of tea. I've rarely ordered room service on Windstar, but don't recall ever tipping extra when I did. If you feel you must tip, I think $1US is sufficient.

I guess that's the root of the problem. I'll be on a Med cruise, would it be appropriate to give a US $1? I figured since we were in Europe, any cash tips would be best in the local currency. But if US cash is OK, then I agree $1 works for a pot of tea.

Remember that there is the tipping that is done at the end of the cruise. To a certain extent, some room service is expected. Also, there have been reports that any tips given to specific individuals is "pooled" and share. Don't know if this is true for cabin service.

If you are implying that I don't tip at the end of the cruise as well, you couldn't be more wrong. I typically add anything from 25% to 100% of the suggested at the end of the cruise.

But I also tip for room service, even if it's a small item they are bringing.

Yes, but you are already being charged $12 per day, per person. A lot of people do not tip above that, so there isn't necessarily tipping done at the end of the cruise. It's just what you want to do.
