Moveover Offer!

Hi
Sailing on Crown Princess on 1 July (7 nights)
Just received an email offering guests the chance to move off this sailing to another voyage up to 10 days. Includes 100% cruise refund (as refundable onboard credit) Free cruise up to 10 nights worldwide. Free meta upgrade where available (not sure what that is) Up to 200 pp towards air on next cruise with Princess Air.

Doesn't suit us but seems like a good deal? Little bit worried they are now vastly overbooked!

Anyone heard of this before? Just curious.

Whoever accepts that will get a great deal.

Quite simply they are offering a UK citizen:
a) A free 10-day cruise in the Caribbean with an automatic upgrade of one class of stateroom from your current booking (full suite for mini-suite / mini-suite for balcony etc - that's what meta upgrade means),
b) A full refund on your current cruise which you can either spend on board or reclaim at the end of the replacement cruise
and
c) 200 per person towards the cost of your air fares to MIA/FLL

Sounds likely they are vastly overbooked from the US / Canada and have recognised that it will be easier to persuade UK clients to drop out of a UK cruise than North American clients.

As you say, it may not suit you, but someone is going to bite their hand off!!

We accepted a moveover offer on a cruise this past January, and used it for a truly bucket list cruise next summer that we never could have afforded ourselves. Our cabin fare on the one we gave up was $791 pp (obstructed OV) and the fare on the new one is about $7100 pp (minisuite) on the Pacific Princess. We "paid" about $250pp additional out of our refundable OBC for the mini, since the original offer upgraded us from an OV to a balcony. We could have had the highest balcony for free. But they let us choose a mini if we paid the difference in fare from the highest balcony to the lowest mini, which was $250 at the time. No brainer.

All of our other OBC transferred to the new cruise (veterans, shareholders, FCC, etc) and our EZ air fare is protected, so we will not pay any more than the original cruise regardless of the new fare, and if it's less they refund the difference.

So if you have a itinerary on your list that you would love to do but just can't, a move over offer can make it possible provided the new one is the right length to fit the offer. Or close; the original offer was to a 14-day but we asked if they would up it to 15 days because we knew which cruise we wanted. We also asked for a suite, but they had to draw the line somewhere!

mmm this is only our 2nd cruise so still new to all this. Hadn't even thought of using it for a cruise next year! Only thing is this will be our last family holiday (although I thought that last year lol). Could probably get a late deal to the sun to fit our dates... off to search next years offerings.
Thanks guys :)

If you even THINK you're interested, don't research next year too long. They make the offer to multiple passengers until someone says "YES!!". Once they get a yes, the offer is gone.

Don't worry about overbooking your cruise .
This generous move over offer may be snatched up already.
Princess will enhance the offer until accepted by some lucky guests .

We took this offer today, for us it was a no brainer,as we were already looking at a cruise for my wifes 50th next year. Just need to get a last minute holiday booked now.

Congratulations! We took a move over offer about five years ago and by far it is the best deal we will ever have!

I would be more than happy to take a move over offer as we are both retired and live near the port of SF so can be very flexible. In over 20 cruises with them, though ... never been offered a move over. On the other hand .. I am not disappointed as I know they are kind of like winning the lottery ... I will just be so happy if I ever get one.

Great moveover offer! I'd take it like a shot.

Do you have to be booked directly with Princess to receive a move over offer?

No, you don't have to be booked with Princess to get a move over offer. We book with a travel agent and have had two offers neither of which we were able to take. The first was for a cruise from Rome to London when we were still working. The second was received in my e-mail as we were on our way to Sydney to join the Sun Princess last summer. We were literally in the air for that offer.

Belfast Belle June 20th, 2017 03:50 AM

Thanks all for your replies.
We didn't take the offer. If it had been the weekend and i'd had time to look properly we would probably would have. Still it's something to bear in mind if we book another cruise - always have a back up plan or a wish list! Congratulations to anyone who was able to take this offer! Amazing deal.

Not unusual at all. Princess does this all the time and have the process down to a science.

Just seen this on our roll call, we are also on this cruise.
I was only saying recently that I've never known UK citizens to get a move over offer, very tempting!!
Unlikely we will change it as my parents are both 80 this year and it's dads first cruise, he always wanted to visit Norway.
We haven't received any e-mail about it but I think they may be interested in our cabins as we have 2 adjoining balconies midship Caribe and an inside directly opposite. I might phone Princess out of interest.... ;)

Did YOU get the offer?
If not it's unlikely you could partake.

I agree. It is a separate department that handles the move overs, definitely not regular Princess reservations personnel. When we accepted ours the lady in the moveover area processed everything, rebooked us on our preferred sailing, sent the air to be changed as we had done EZ air, cancelled our prebooked excursions, etc.

Not to mention Princess usually wants a specific passenger cabin/cat as well.

Yes - that's true. I have a lot of friends on the Ruby sailing AK this weekend and the only ones that got the move over offer were those in regular balcony cabins. Those in mini-suites and higher did not get it. They were offered the sailing on the Ruby on 7/1 but none were willing to change their plans.

Sue Do-Over June 25th, 2017 05:48 PM

We were booked on a 10-day Japan a couple of weeks ago. Just 15 days before sailing, we got a Move-Over offer. Included free cruise up to 10 days, anywhere in the world, upgrade from balcony to mini-suite, and $500/pp to change our airfare.
We ended up accepting 11 days out of Copenhagen, and they OK'd the longer cruise but didn't have a mini-suite, so we got the biggest available balcony cabin. Ended up pushing the trip back just two weeks.

The only hiccup is that the air fare credit hasn't yet been posted, although the promotions guy assigned to our booking has acknowledged getting the receipts. Our current booking says $0 due, OBC = entire fare from Japan, and we carried over our casino credits.
