QE2 Mauretania dress code

Oslo Dutch

Just a little question. What is the dress code for the Mauretania Restaurant for casual and informal nights? Having cruised on QE2 transatlantic in 2002 most nights were formal.

Started packing for the fjords cruise departing on Saturday. :-)

Thanks

Hi

Even on informal nights people dress smart. A sport coat with nice pants. Always a buttoned shirt and tie.

Wish I was going. Almost six months since my last QE2 cruise and don't know if I'll ever sail again on her since she is not coming to the US anymore and I don't fly. Stuck with QM2.

Let us know how your trip goes

Bon Voyage.

Experiences might vary. Mine is as follows:

Informal: Minimum requirement: jacket, shirt, tie. Many men: dark suit

Casual: Minimum: Slacks and dress shirt. Many men: light-coloured suit or sport jacket with tie.

I like the thinking here: smart dress for men.

Formal nights, black tie.

Informal nights, suit and tie.

Casual nights, sportcoat and tie.

"Always dress better than you have to" never hurts anywhere.

I agree w/ ab ovo. People still get dressed up, even though it's a "casual" night. But then, that's part of the fun and allure of being on the QE2. So jump right in with your really nice clothes, and have a blast!! There's plenty of time to be casual when you're home. :)

I also say dress it up as much as possible. The whole trip is a special occassion, so you might as well make the most of it. Also, although I was basically quite pleased with the Maretania dining room, once in a while a meal was not so great. At those times it was nice to have an extra glass of wine and enjoy the ambience...
