Foreign currency help?

Hi

We are staying in Barbados 3 nights prior to our cruise.

We are stopping off at st Lucia, st kitts, st Thomas, st Maarten and San juan puerto rico.

Were planning on taking our credit cards, and us dollars. We are full board in our hotel in Barbados - however should we take like £200 worth of barbados dollars?

The only currency you need in the Caribbean is $US. All the islands and Mexico like $US. EM

Barbados does have its own currency but the $US are widely accepted. That said you will often get your change in $BB. For a day on Barbados $US are fine but as the OP is there for several days you would be wise to get some $BB as the conversion is a bit akward at BB$1.98 to US$1.00. I know that I have often stood there will a handful of BB change thinking have I been ripped off or what.:)

If you pay in US Dollars and tell them you want change in US Dollars, you'll almost certainly get it. Especially if you insist there's no sale otherwise.

Less might be better ...

1 GBP =about $3 BBD

I would just get some from an ATM in Barbados for local eateries etc...
