Khan Al Khalili bazaar

Does anyone know if US dollars can be used in the Khan Al Khalili bazaar in Cairo? Do we need to have Egyptian Pounds at all?

They took US$ 2+ years ago when we were there.

US dollars worked fine (as of Feb 2008) for most small souvenirs in the market. (Be aware, though, that a lot of the items being sold are actually "made in China"....go figure.) For larger purchases, I suggest using a credit card to get a more favorable rate of exchange, as well as having an avenue to pursue should anything go wrong.

In my experience I have found that I have always been able to buy cheaper in the Bazaar using Egyptian Pounds rather than US.
