"LIVE" from the Majesty / 01-17-2009

Radio

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I have arrived in Charleston, SC today for my “LIVE” from the Majesty trip report tomorrow. . . I will be sailing on the MS Majesty for a relaxing Bahamas and Florida 7 night cruise.

Norwegian Cruise Line will home port Majesty from the Port of Charleston weekly, until May 22, 2009. NCL has not scheduled any ships (home port) for Charleston in 2010.

Majesty will be docked down at the port facility on Concord St. I will try to get some photos of the ship tomorrow morning from Patriots Point, across the harbor while she is docked.

Those of you who have followed my "LIVE" reports with RCI, and HAL, and CCL already know that I will provide daily comments and trip reports from this cruise.

I will also try to post "LIVE" pics daily (as long as I am able to maintain a valid wireless connection)

The MS Majesty is currently owned by (Cyprus based) Louis Cruise Line, and is under charter by Norwegian Cruise Line until Dec 2009.

I found out while sailing on Majesty in June ‘08, that most (non cabin) 2.0 Freestyle Enhancements have been added on Majesty

The NCL Majesty was purchased in 1997, from Majesty Cruise Line, and was stretched in 1999. (Adding cabins, Casino, New Pool among other areas)

The Majesty will move to Cruise Maryland in Baltimore in May 2009 for weekly Bermuda cruises.

So sit back, and relax. . .this should be a fun cruise ! I hope that my internet connection stays active. I should be getting to the Port of Charleston by about noon, and I will try to post several pics before sail away at 4PM.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is a little cold, but sunny.

Thanks for tuning in.

Hey Radio! I loved your review last time to Bermuda. If not for your live report, I probably never would have gone. I went and I loved it! Have a great cruise and I am looking forward to traveling vicariously!

Radio, thanks so much in advance. This will be a great week for me cruising with you vie the net for the next week. Your live trip reports are the best, especially while I'am setting here in cold New England waiting for my turn on the Majesty in 4 weeks. I hope you have great weather and a great time for yourself. Bon Voyage Radio!:)

Here is a Web Cam Image from Charleston. You can see Majesty, but I am unable to pan over to center her. . . (Presets Only)

The Charleston Webcam can be viewed HERE

I will try to get some better images later this morning, before I board Majesty.

Hello everyone. . . It is starting out COLD today (19f brrrr. . . .)

It is very sunny however, and I am very excited about boarding Norwegian Majesty later today.

I went over to the Charleston Harbor Resort which is very close to my hotel, to get a few photos.

I will be heading over to the pier around 11, and should be boarding shortly after that.

Thank you, Radio, for doing another Live report! I read your other live report on the Majesty (to Bermuda), and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait to read this one as well. We're supposed to go on the Majesty in July, so we're looking forward to sailing.

Hey AWinkler, does the Holiday Inn Riverview offer a package deal for cruise passengers? We used to stay in North Charleston and leave our cars there, but last time we were there, the hotel was in very bad shape. We want to find a place closer to the port. I know you can park your cars at the dock, but the hotel we did stay at really gave us a good deal, but we were very disappointed in it. How much is parking at the dock? We like to go down to Charleston the day before and enjoy the city. Thank you

After seeing these pics, I am really getting excited about the cruise May 9th to Bermuda. We went to Bermuda last May, and really enjoyed Bermuda alot. A beautiful place to visit and so different from the Caribbean.

Thank you Radio for your updates!!!

Hello everyone ! I left the hotel at about 11:30 AM, and was a short 10 min ride over to the Pier.(There was a small line to unload luggage)

I unloaded the luggage at the Terminal, then I drove my car over to an warehouse that has been converted to park passenger vehicles.

A shuttle took us over to the passenger terminal (It is very close. . .maybe 2 blocks)

We went into the terminal and did a quick security check (X-ray). There was not much of a line, and there were plenty of part agents to help.

I was allowed to board as soon as I was checked in. I boarded the ship right at about 12:15.

The Port of Charleston terminal a little small but very clean, They seem to have their act together. (I still like Cruise Maryland better. . .)

I grabbed a quick bite to eat, then at about 1:30PM I was able to get checked in my cabin.

The Majesty is just as nice as I remember her from June 2008. Yes, she is a smal ship, but the crew is very very good. . . I really like the nautical “feel” of the ship as well.

We are scheduled to sail away at 4PM, and I will try to get some sail away pics up later tonight. If my wireless connection is stable, I should be able to post many pics per day. Tomorrow is our day at sea, and our first port will be Great Stirrup Cay.(It should be a little warmer by then)

I have a Cruise Critic Meet and Greet tomorrow, and I will try to see if the Casino will be friendly with me as well !

I will try to check in later tonight. . . Thanks for tuning in !

I've had the pleasure of following a few of your "live from" postings and am thrilled that you're doing the Majesty. We've never sailed on her and will be interested to see your pix and read your insights.

Enjoy your sea day tomorrow!
