Passport in Ouvea

Does anyone know if you need to take your passport when you leave the ship & visit Ouvea? My hubby is on a US passport & our TA told us that he might have required a visa because this is part of Loyalty Islands however when she checked it was not needed.

no we didn't need ours when visiting. You have your ship key card so that's all you need. There is nothing at Ouvea - just beautiful white sand. There is not really any town or anything - its just a few huts and a dozen or so cars and a volleyball net on the beach - Mummsie

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a nice place to chill out. Is there any snorkelling there?

We saw some people snorkelling but they said there wasn't much in the way of fish to look at. its just a nice simple place to spend a few hours chilling out. Mummsie
