Things I'd Like to See NCL Offer

NCL is our favorite line now, but there's always room to make it even better.

What changes would you like to see?

I'd like:

More options in the gifts selection, especially floral. I'd appreciate a single red rose in a mini vase ($10) and a mini arrangement ($20).

A coffee card for pre-purchase (like Princess has)

More choice in the bottled water for pre-purchase (not just 1 liter bottles)

Specialty Restaurants with dining hours for Adults only on a rotating basis so those wanting a quiet romantic dinner can do so! For Example: 1st night of cruise it could be Cagneys after 7 pm is for adult diners only, 2nd night it could be Ocean Blue after 7 pm. (before I'm accused of disliking children.....I have raised 24 foster children and 4 of my own, worked in a middle school and I adore children and I think its terrific that parents are doing cruises and creating memories with their children.) But, you can't ask children to be adults and sit quietly for an extended period and it would be terriffic to have a romantic atmosphere for other cruisers who are without children.

What age limit would you have? Our son is 12 and we certainly expect him to sit quietly when we eat (and he doesn’t let us down).

I did take him to Le Bistro last cruise, as my wife isn’t a fan. The staff seemed quite surprised to see someone his age there. They said they get very few kids there, and I don’t recall seeing many in the past. In fact, I wouldn’t say I recall seeing many kids in the speciality restaurants at all. More often than not there are none (or just one if we have taken our son).

I’m not particularly disagreeing with you, by the way, just not sure how much of an issue this is. Maybe it’s more a location thing (we tend to cruise in Europe mostly).

I think this a great idea. The OP isn't saying every day for every restaurant, but it would be nice to have adult only dining on a rotating basis. I like dining with my grand kids but there are times that I'd like to dine with just my husband.

I have kids and take them on cruises with me and I endorse this idea. If they publish the schedule in advance so everyone knows going in, I don't see how it would be a big deal. I would also be okay on ships with multiple main dining rooms to say this one is kid-friendly, under 13, and this one is 13 and over.

Daytime theater shows on sea days.

A few years ago on the Epic, we missed Livorno due to the weather. They redid the freestyle daily, as is usual in those situations and one thing they added was an afternoon show in the Theatre by the Beatles tribute who were onboard.

It was probably the most enjoyable show I’ve ever been to on a ship. A really great atmosphere.

I like the idea of rotating adult only for the specialty restaurants, and make it adult only, 18 and up.

More activities on sea days besides pool games and art auctions.

Bring back the freestyle decks, mark them, and make them adult only if Americans can't handle it.

Enforce the adult only hot tub and other areas that are adult only.

Non-Haven suites having the option to have the Haven included or not for a fee (or reduced price).

More co-ed spas, Epic got it right, Jewel definitely not.

Clearly defined family friendly areas and shows (I don't like kids, but I do think they should be able to BE kids and have places where families can be together)

I would like them to bring back the cabin decorations without the nasty sickly cake.

Better selection of gifts to pre-order including apparel and in room beverages like cans of Coke or beer, etc. I think Carnival have got this right.

It would also be great if we could use OBC online to prebook speciality dining and Cirque

A real Country Bar with Line Dancing and free lessons. Had someone tell me he is Cruising with an infant, and getting charges as an extra passenger....outrageous if you ask me....an infant is not going to use any of the amenities:confused:

  • Higher end wines available by the glass (even with a UBP upcharge)
  • American sports in the bars
  • Water bottle fillers around the ship (kind of like the ones they have at gyms and airports)
  • An actual Irish Beer on tap in O'Sheehans (or at least something better than Stella)
  • Stop the beach towel accounting
  • Free room service for breakfast or allow us to use one of our SDP choices to get free room service all week

I love the ideas of rotating adult dining hours - families should be able to make memories, but it's not fair to other diners to make them listen to your infant screeching all through dinner, or to overhear the temper tantrum that ensues after you stop your 4 year old from running laps around the table. (Cagneys last week, all in the same meal. Big fun.)

I'd also love afternoon shows on sea days - I always have big plans and book evening entertainment that I miss because I just can't stay awake after a day of fun...so, we miss things.

1. Love to see enforcement of the 30 min. rule of reserving pool chairs.

2, Enforce no smoking in the casino unless you are playing. Lots of people come into casino to smoke and not play.

3. No smoking in casino but that will not happen even though Celebrity has it.

4. NO ball caps or hats at dinner!!!! Enforce it!!!!

I would like to see the buy one cruise get another free promotion again. We got hooked on NCL after that promo, and with the sky going to Cuba, I think now would be a perfect opportunity for a free 3 or 4 night cruise.
