Machines and Tables take US Dollars. If you advance against your "sail pass", you will be charged a 3% service charge.

Would use cash in casino.

They just want your $$$$.

Each cruiseline is different. NCL charges 3% to use your card. Princess has no charge. I think Carnival is zero as well.

You can use either one. Cash that you bring with you, or that you get out of the ATM, either on the ship or in ports. The ATM in the casino has a service charge ($6, I think), plus whatever your bank charges you for using your ATM card in a non-network ATM.

You can get a cash advance through the casino desk. There will be a 3% fee charged for this. The advance will show up as a charge against your on board account.

You can put your key card or your CAS (Casinos At Sea) card in a slot machine and get the same cash advance downloaded to your account which is secured with a PIN that you setup. There is a 3% fee for this. You can then download $$ from that account to the machine you are playing.

If you plan on playing a lot you should see the casino player's desk and get a CAS card, so your play will be tracked for potential future discounts on cruises. When you reach a certain # of points on the cruise you will also get a "free drink" card for use in the casino, although this has become less important with the advent of the UBP. Finally, if you play enough the casino will also apply the points you earn as credits against your final on board bill.

You can get money off your stateroom card for a 3% fee from any machine. You'll have to authenticate with details like your birthday.

We had a large onboard credit perk. It's use it or lose it, so we took the credit out as cash and ate the 3%.

Bring the cash you need...no sense paying 3% to gamble!
