I really like the look of the food stations of the new buffet. I suspect these new photos give us a peak at what some of the new buffet areas of the Royal Princess might look like.

Thank you for posting these. We board the Coral on the 20th. I like the tables and chairs in the first photo and I think someone should substitute the barrel chairs in the IC for regular chairs too. When you make seating too comfortable, they never vacate. How many times do you try to get a table and see so many people occupying space just reading and playing cards?

I liked the way the buffet seating area looked before the re-do. It looks more like a high school cafeteria now. One big improvement, though, was removing the dance floor and piano, and putting a serving station there.

On the other hand, I do like the way the serving stations look now. Much brighter and more inviting. Here's how it looked before:

The redesign fits Coral well - a classy looking upgrade for an already classy looking ship.

Unfortunate the removal of the dance floor and piano in Horizon Court. I remember the good old days on Sun Princess when parties were held up there (50s night, etc.) and the area was used brilliantly. Too bad Princess didn't use the area for sort of a dance/supper club - could have been a nice alternative.

I agree with Brian that the redesign looks great on the Coral. I suspect that the buffet seating area looks better in person where the colours will really give it a much more modern appearance that the old metal chairs that the buffet used to have.

Thanks for the pictures! I will be coming to Toronto in a few weeks. I am excited to see your city, as I have never been there. Also I will be on the Coral a few weeks after that. Lots of fun!

Every time!

(Others will say they have no problem, but since all my cruises have been to Alaska, people tend to sit inside more.)

I like the look of the IC and the stations at the buffet. I'm not so crazy about the buffet tables/area.

I hope those HC chairs aren't as uncomfortable as they look in the photo. And what's with tables for 8? I hope they pull those apart into a smaller configuration. I do like the more neutral colours.

One comment re the buffet itself: looks like more line-like than stations. It'll be interesting to see if you can still hop around to what you want as in the old space, or if now there's a forced line-up.

The photo of the buffet stations is a bit deceiving. It looks like they still have the indented section where the hot food is served. It's just to the right of the salad bar island where the HC worker is.

On the Island last summer that area had no activities in the evening.

It was used one afternoon for the dessert buffet. On the day in Glacier Bay, the park rangers set up an information table there.

Is it just me or does the new buffet seating resemble the way Celebrity does it on their ships?

I'm very disappointed with the re-design of the buffet. Looks very much like a hostpital or school cafeteria!!! We're accustomed to Carnival decor which is usually beautiful and very comfortable. We just booked our first Princess cruise on the Coral and I am really not impressed.

Everyone is different of course, hopefully when it's full of people it won't look quite so "sterile"

Carnival is beautiful? Carnival is garish and a mess. And their buffet area is the pits! YIKES!

LOL - YIKES? :p

Pia I agree that some ships are a bit over the top, but none are sterile-looking like the photo above of the "buffet" area.

Yes, it does. Very high school style, to me. That was one of the few things we did NOT like on the Reflection this January. And on Celebrity, there is NO service to the tables, except for clearing after you leave. Wonder if it will now be that way on the Coral? :(
