colliercruiser Posted October 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2017 Has anyone stayed in the Movenpick Hotel in Amsterdam? Is it convenient to seeing the “downtown”? Walkable or taxi/tram? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
dogs4fun Posted October 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2017 Has anyone stayed in the Movenpick Hotel in Amsterdam? Is it convenient to seeing the “downtown”? Walkable or taxi/tram? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk We have stayed at the Movenpick we we arrived via TA cruise - had a room overlooking the IJ - gorgeous view. There is a tram stop across the street (#26) that will take you to Centraal Station in just a few minutes. From Centraal Station, it is a short walk to Dam square or you can catch trams to wherever from the station. You can walk from the hotel to Dam square in about 20 minutes - we preferred the tram, at least as far as Dam Square. Amsterdam is a city best seen on foot - we used the trams when 'saving' our walking legs (from the hotel to Centraal Station, Dam Square or to Rijksmuseum). The remainder of the time, we walked. doglover3 Posted October 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2017 Has anyone stayed in the Movenpick Hotel in Amsterdam? Is it convenient to seeing the “downtown”? Walkable or taxi/tram? We stayed at the Movenpick a year ago in June before a river cruise, also in a room with a lovely view. We found it quite easy to walk to Centraal Station, where we would pick up a tram to wherever we wanted to go. There was a pedestrian/bike route that went under the road and walked past the public library, along the way to the station. If you stop in the library, there is a cafeteria on the top floor with an open terrace with great views of the city. You can look without eating, though we found the food very good and reasonably priced. The tram stop across the street is convenient for when you don't feel like walking.
