I never met my MIL. She sadly passed from Melanoma when DH was 15. This photo was posted as a remembrance on Mothers Day. The Morris 8 was named Toby (which I know @lenquixote66 will like). DH’s parents were obviously on a day trip from Chatswood in Sydney to the Central Coast. Note the water bag attached to the front of the car in the second photo for the day trip.

Haven’t watched any ship build docos for ages. Last night I was looking for something short & easy to watch so ending up watching two short docos. I have never been a Disney girl but watching the build of Disney Treasure and then the build of Disney Wish was really interesting. Only annoying thing was the announcement that kept popping up across the screen throughout to remind the viewer that this was a paid doco by the Disney corporation.

Well, I managed to let an escape artist almost escape the hospital ward… Access to my loved one’s ward is via two sets of double doors. First one is locked and you have to call the nurses station to have it opened. Second set of doors are not locked but you usually need to keep them closed. Sign on the outdoor door states there is a roamer on the ward (whom I have never seen in 9 visits). Due to one particular lady on the ward yelling out constantly I assumed the roamer was a female . So once I got through the locked doors today (ensuring as always that they were locked behind me) I pushed open the second set of doors to be greeted by a well dressed older gent approaching the doors. Being Mothers Day and there being lots of visitors I just assumed he was visiting until I saw the panicked look on the faces of the nurses at the nurses station in front of me as he quickly went through the gap of the closing door behind me. Heard them say to each other ‘he’s gone again!’ Oops! Mind you, he wouldn’t have got far. There was only a short corridor and he couldn’t go any further, certainly not into the main part of the hospital. Every single staff member has their staff photo and title on display at the entrance of the ward. You would think there would also be a photo of the roamer since visiting hours are 8am-8pm but I guess that would be an invasion of patient’s privacy? With nurses’ pre- approval I brought a block of old gold rum & raisin chocolate & a block of old gold baileys chocolate block amongst other things that brought a big smile to loved one’s face. Arrived home to lovely bouquet of flowers that had been organised by my DD in Canada. Hope those of you who celebrate Mothers Day had a lovely day and those of you who find it difficult have managed to cope as best they can.

Yesterday we went to the movies to see David Attenborough’s latest doco ‘Ocean’ then had a nice dinner after. Amazing that David is 99 but sad to think it will be his last doco First half of the documentary is filled with beautiful ocean imagery, second half is a call to arms to ban industrial fishing in particular boom netting where large steel nets scrape the bottom of the Ocean destroying everything in its path and capturing all sea creatures (not just the fish they seek). Devastating to see. I was also shocked to discover that industrial fishing is permitted in Antarctica. He wants to influence the outcome of a UN Ocean Conference in France next month to ensure participants agree to protect 30% of the world’s ocean. It’s not all doom and gloom though, he states that success is possible by showing us that the banning of commercial whale hunting in 1986 has brought back to the majestic blue whale and other whale species. Worth a watch.

Made the mistake yesterday of parking under a large flowering gum tree at work. Must have been a flock of cockatoos in the tree during the day eating the blooms because when I got out to my car at the end of the day - every single window of the car had multiple bird poop on it. I could not believe there was that much mess on my car in only 8hrs… Luckily, it rained on the drive to the hospital so some of it got washed off but car wash is definately on the agenda today.

My loved one has been receiving excellent care in the hospital, was very disappointed the delicious pumpkin and feta quiche they had for dinner last night was not on the menu for tonight and has had a lot of visitors in between lots of tests. Find out today how much longer they will be in hospital and when the move to rehab will happen. Thanks for asking @dani negreanu & @grapau27
