Good morning. Rain forecast for Sunday hasn’t eventuated, yet. DH decided he wanted to cycle laps of Parramatta park. Said there were walking tracks. I haven’t been to this urban park before. Had a thought as we were driving there that there was a historic building within the park…so whilst DH did 7 loops of the 3km cycling track, I visited the interior of Old Government House. Now keen to visit some of the other heritage sites in Australia that I am yet to visit

Good morning. Last night we were in the city to see a play based on a classic Australian book. Today, it will be sunny but tomorrow will be a day of rain. Might go to the movies - we are currently spoilt for choice - Barbie, Oppenheimer, Mission Impossible and Indiana Jones. My daughter and her friends all went and saw Barbie last night. Special pink sessions have been selling out here. My friend’s son and his friend group are 4 boys and one girl so they are seeing the double bill of Oppenheimer and Barbie. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Re: Kayaking - had dinner on Monday night at my dad’s. Dad’s kayaking friend joined us. Richard is a mechanical engineer who built himself a blue kayak named Blue Moon. Last December he departed Hobart Tasmania in Blue Moon and kayaked 1767km in 67 days to Riverton in the very south of the South Island of New Zealand. He became the first person to paddle solo, unassisted, non-stop between Australia and New Zealand. A lovely, humble guy who did it just to encourage others to get out, be active and be adventurous. There was no media coverage at the time, just a daily private blog that I had the pleasure of following. He has since done talks at schools & unis and the NZ media posted a few articles once he arrived there. If you are interested to see the self-righting kayak he built & paddled just google Blue Moon/Richard Barnes.

Glad you had a great time away and thank you for sharing all your photos. These photos from the dock look so relaxing & peaceful. Did you have this part of the lake to yourselves whilst you were there?

Some of the flowers that bloomed over two nights at dad’s friends garden. 29 first night and 53 second night. Dad was too busy enjoying his to think of taking photos but yes they covered an entire outdoor wall that he can see from his kitchen and looked spectacular too.

@TravelGirlinDallas can you leave a note on your bed, asking your steward to make up the bunk with a top sheet for the rest of the cruise? Agree that this should be the norm but your steward seems to have forgotten your son is actually sleeping in there….

Special visitor to the Opera House today

Had that happen on three different cruises. Thankfully in the morning, rather than late at night. Glad they fixed it promptly for you.

Superb high tea/brunch at the newly opened Midden restaurant at the Sydney Opera House. Indigenous Chef specialises in native ingredients. Everything tasted as good as it looks. Prior to this had done a 3 1/2 hrs Hidden House tour of the Sydney Opera House with 2 guides + 3 specialised staff - Stage Manager, stage & lighting. Only 9 of us in the group so very personalised tour. The High Tea was included in the tour & the staff & guides joined us (in the photos). Standing on the stages of the Joan Sutherland Theatre & the Concert Hall, plus going up and seeing all the behind the scenes electronic staging equipment, seeing where the semis dock with the stage equipment, climbing up many narrow circular stairs high up into the ceiling and going up and down tiny lifts and into large lifts designed to lift extremely heavy staging equipment, getting up close to the Grand Organ and sitting in the stool. All was fascinating. Expensive tour but worth every cent.

Poor form to have dirty sheets then no replacements at 10.30 at night. Hope room attendant lifts their game.

Best way to catch up on all the details of my friend’s recent Europe trip - do a walk together around the harbour from Cremorne Point Wharf to Taronga Zoo Wharf. We were very fortunate that the heavens opened at the very end of the walk when we had reached the cover of Taronga Zoo Wharf.

My dad and his friend both have a whole wall of these flowers. When they bloom all at once - it’s spectacular. My dad gifted me one and when it bloomed, my son did a time lapse video. Unfortunately, DH has since killed it with his whipper snipper 🙄

I hope Susan’s Covid symptoms are mild. Love the eye pop photo. My eyes would do the same if I got that cheesecake drink.

@Sea Dog Lovely photo of Linda and your gorgeous pups. So pleased the op went well. Agree that bathroom tasks will be the hardest & putting on her bra. Ideas: baby wet wipes Use bath instead of shower home visits by hairdresser for shampooing or weekly visits to hairdresser for shampoo etc Keep Linda away from cooking initially until she becomes adapt at using her left hand. Not being able to chop or lift saucepans is frustrating. If driving causes your knee pain to flare, maybe reach out to friends and neighbours, to assist with the driving if Linda needs to be driven somewhere. My fav part of having a cast on my hand was being chauffeured everywhere. All the best to you both as Linda recovers. That lovely October cruise will be here before you know it.
