Yes, deck 12 is the pool deck & deck 14 directly above has seating. Deck 14 is always our preferred but generally gets very crowded and almost impossible by late morning. Deck 16  always got those guests who enjoyed some quiet & being away from the crowds on decks 12 & 14 AND once those decks filled up. With deck 16 now reserved for suite guests, there no longer is a place for the overflow and for those who simply prefer a quieter area. DH & I from time to time went up there as well. Unfortunately deck 16 is no longer an option for us. In addition for those suite guests who don't want to go to 16 they will be looking for chairs on 12 & 14 anyway!!! Between the footstools, change of those comfortable balcony chairs  & now this, we are not sure what to expect on our favorite Solstice ship in a few weeks. Hope that explains.

Hi, when you are on the Solstice, could you please report back about the current situation with the balcony furniture.  We are booked for January 2020 and are so hoping there will be comfortable lie back balcony chairs along with footstools as we use our balcony alot.  Many thanks

We will be on the Equinox, a Solstice ship. Once back , yes, I will post the situation with the balcony furniture. Hopefully the hotel director made a "special order" after reading all of this - ha ha!!!

I have never been on Equinox but I am curious - isn't the pool on 12 and then there is deck 14 with seating?  Deck 16 seems somewhat far away from the pool.  Is that your goal for seating?  Like I said truly curious.

  4. Yes this is hilarious but sounds like many of us have lost another "something" on the plus side for choosing Celebrity. As many are saying we select certain cabin categories for comfort and the perks that come with the extra cost. We are paying more ( $400) than last summer's Equinox sailing( same cabin)  and sounds like getting less for a C3 category.  I also am concerned about getting lounge chairs above the pool deck now that deck 16 is the Retreat Sundeck. What a shame- we truly love this ship!

  5. Now that deck 16 ( I believe) is the suite sun deck ,  I would imagine the main sun deck for non suite guests is much more limited. It always was challenging without going to deck 16. Can anyone who has recently sailed comment on the change? We sail on the Equinox in a few weeks and can’t help but wonder what it will be like. Carrying lounge chairs to the grass may become the only option to avoid lots of frustration!! 😃 It’s great to enhance the areas for suite guests but what about the rest of us.

If you plan on booking Murano on the first night, then you would be better off not getting the 3-night package and either booking the 1st night discounted price online or waiting to negotiate discounts on board. At $129 pp ($43 per night) the 3-night package is a terrible deal - hardly any discount at the more expensive restaurants and higher than the regular price for a couple of the lower priced restaurants.

Thanks much - exactly what we did. Murano booked for the first night. Holding off on the package.

Our you can be like us on the Reflection last year. When we got onboard we went right to the specialty restaurant booking desk and were told the only times/dates they could offer us for your 4 night package were times and dates we did not want.  Either very early or very late on port days. Nothing reasonable, nothing on sea days.  Our next stop was guest relations and after some discussion we opted to just have the $250 refunded to us.  We were really looking forward to trying out the specialty dining venues but in the end we were very happy with the MDR.

Thanks for the info. This is a story I thought I had heard in the past. We are going to book Morano for the first night and play it by ear from there. We too enjoyed the food in the MDR on the Equinox.

When we were on Anthem, there was a cover band in there one night. A DJ pretty much every night. Silent disco. A few other events. I think we stopped in there most nights at some point. Great venue. We really enjoyed it.

The blog post I read suggested the Music Hall on Oasis will be similar in function, including cover bands.

Thanks very much. I guess the great bands that we know from Dazzles will no longer be.

Once you board go to one of the tables selling dining packages and they can book your restaurants & times.  You can also go to 1 of the specialty restaurants and book all 3 of your dinners.

When you purchase you pick a day ! or 2 and time, but that is just so the computer can process the booking.

    Many thanks!

  10. We will be sailing once again on the Equinox in July. Can anyone tell me if we purchase the 3 night dining package will we be able to select our restaurants and times? I seem to remember reading that you can not & the ships assign. If so, from experience, what are the chances of changing?

    Many thanks!

  11. Just read a RCCL blog re the changes coming to Oasis of the Seas. They mention adding the Music Hall with "cover bands" . Does this mean that Dazzles & the amazing bands that have played across all of the Oasis Class will be no more? Experienced the Music Hall on Anthem and it could not compare to Dazzles. Hoping someone from RCCL or anyone with any inside information reads this and can clarify. Just booked an OAS for Nov 2020 which I might want to change.

Also with the restaurants there is no mention of 150 Central Park. Only Chops, Giovanni's Table & Izumi are mentioned.

Loving the Oasis ships as we do, this is somewhat sad .  😥

  12. We have sailed many of the Oasis Ships, typically 6D on decks 10 & 11 starboard. Contemplating an OAS sailing in November 2020. The price is great but only for an 8D on deck 6 forward or all the way aft on deck 6. Can anyone tell me if we will be blocked somewhat from the lifeboats on deck 5 ??  Hopefully we are not making a mistake going down the ladder. Sailing on SOS this Dec but the rates are crazy for the following year. We just can't justify the higher price of $750.00

One other question - some of the cabins being offered are adjoining. I seem to remember some on the boards saying you can hear noise & see light from the adjoining cabins.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

So for those of you who have read my blogs before you know that I have the occasional mushy or “ah ha” moment. While I sit around, whether it be at a bar, grabbing coffee, or at a show I love nothing more than observing people and the environment around me.

So here is my little moment from last night.

Edward and I were seated at the martini bar, at the head of the bar overlooking the lights and glass sculpture behind the bar. We had just ordered our second drink, the flair bartenders had just put on a show, and we were listening the group Reckless Charms play a unique version of one of John Mayer’s hits. I took a sip of my drink and just casually scanned the decks above. I saw a couple, likely in their mid 60s, holding hands and swinging their grasped palms back and forth. The husband was teasing her, pulling her in as if to kiss her and then gently push her away. They looked like school kids at a dance. They had smiles that made them look as if it was a first date but I’m sure they were together for decades.

I looked down to the dance floor and I saw a woman on her iPhone using FaceTime and I could see two young kids on the screen. She was clearly showing her grandchildren her cruise and she was pointing out the band and the piano. I’m sure she wishes thy were there at that moment. I then scan to the bartenders. I see Igor flipping a couple bottles practicing his juggling, I Made and Peter are shaking cocktails and joking with guests. Everyone has a big smile, at this point no one has a care in the world.

While everything I mentioned above I’m sure happens everyday not just on a cruise but anywhere, there was something so peaceful and magical about that moment. It’s moments like this that I remember from a cruise. It’s moments like this that I have a difficult time putting into words. But most importantly it’s moments like this that make you fall in love with travel and people all over again. It’s moments like this that make you fall in love with life.

So as I sit here back in my cabin, taking a little break out from the pool area, I thought I’d share this with you. Hopefully it helps brighten your day even as simple as the story may be.

Paul-  thank you once again for taking us along on your journey. You touched my heart today with your "mushy" moments from last night. You brought me to tears while reading about the couple you saw on the deck above the Martini Bar. It could have been my husband & I . If there was dance music you would have seen us dancing which we love. By the way is there any  dancing on the ship? Enjoy EVERY moment of tomorrow & tomorrow evening.

    Happy Birthday!

    Paula

  14. Ann,

Thank you so much for posting the wine list, thermal suite info & answering the many questions you received.  You are amazing! Yes, most helpful to many of us. Based on the limited wines for $9 , we may have no choice but to upgrade. At least we have that option - two years ago we did not.

Enjoy your last day on board tomorrow !

Happy Holidays to all & Happy Cruising!

    Paula

  15. Thanks so much to VictOriann and all other on board who have taken us along & posted so much information . She looks beautiful!

DH & I just booked the Nieuw Statendam( VC) for the end of March. We actually cancelled our Edge sailing despite a very low group rate. We very much enjoy  dancing in the evenings and from what I have read it's basically non existent. It just does not sound like a good fit for us. We have always enjoyed the BB King groups & hope this is a good one!

    A few questions -

We are going to purchase the Signature Beverage Package and upgrade on board if necessary. Is this possible? When we sailed 2 years ago HAL was not offering the premium package. We mainly drink wine throughout the evenings & remember the Santa Carolina Chardonnay was not at all to our liking. Can anyone comment on what is currently offered in the lounges & restaurant?

We may wish to purchase the Thermal Suite Pass - how much is the week rate for a couple. On the Greenhouse web-site it says check at the Spa.

Thank you & enjoy your remaining days on board!

Bandp407, yes I am on board, first 7 night cruise.

there was an Elite wine tasting event.  No scotch tasting, bourbon tasting, wine blending, etc.  maybe in the future?

    no cookIng expo

there may have been a guest lecture on the sea day.  I’ll have to go back to the daily to check.

music in Cafe al Bacio is only piped in.  Christmas meets hip-hop, standards remixed to a heavy beat.  No live music.

haven’t heard anything I would describe as classical guitar.  I will try to seek her out.  i also haven’t heard “The Fringe Collective” described as jazz and soul.  There was a loud and fairly weird foursome “The Reckless Charms”. playing one afternoon in Eden.  I left after two numbers.

there is a pay-to-enter gameshow/trivia/contest of some sort every night.  Entry fee $20 as I recall.

Celebrity Life Acitivites: adult coloring, origami, knitting.  I’m not making this stuff up.

I just pulled the plug and cancelled our March sailing. This ship may be for some, but not us.  Enjoy your remaining time on board Cruisestich & all others onboard. Hopefully the seas are calm & you can enjoy the sounds & views of the sea!

    Happy Holidays!
