  1. Probably not but if the dogs pick upon them they will just take them away. No big deal.
  2. Or shorts and a wife beater. And don’t forget the ball cap, worn backward at the table. Im gonna get my popcorn...
  3. To me it is worth not having to handle our luggage virtually at all on the way in. The line of cars dropping off isn't that bad and given that I'm sitting in a comfortable vehicle with air/heat and a great radio I wouldn't care if it was a little long. Most importantly I don't have to tip the bus guys as well as the porters for handling the luggage. Pull up in front of the terminal, set the bags on the driveway next to my truck, wife handles the tip money while I drive off. Nothing to it. Shuttles have their own lane across the dropoff/pickup lane.
  4. Who cares. I just go in, get my coffee and leave. Not interested in sitting in there with people I don’t even know.
  5. First, the pier is very long. Ive walked it bunches of times and I am always amazed at how long it is. Sometimes there’s a tram running and sometimes not. Once you get to the port area there are the usual assortment of shops, a few restaurants and a pool. But make no mistake, the port isn’t “right off the ship”.
  6. When you get inside you will show your boarding pass documents to one of the port employees and they will direct you to the correct lane. It’s before security (but honestly I’m not sure if they might also have a priority line for security). I’m pretty sure it’s to the right of the other lines but rest assured they will send you the right way. There has never been much of a line when we depart on Enchantment, including two weeks ago.
  7. We did this in September and it was $23 to the drugstore next to Guidos. Pretty sure I gave him $25. There will be taxis lined up at both P.B. and several spots along Rafael Melgar downtown. As mentioned, ask what the fare is before you get in but I’ve never had any issues with gouging (like in so many cities in the U.S.) And if if you’re hungry check out Pancho’s Backyard in the next block past Guidos. We were there last week and, while a little pricey, food and service were excellent.
  8. I gave in and bought Klymit Static V Luxe and OMG they’re the greatest thing ever. To the OP, we cruise on Liberty often as we live not far from Galveston. The mattresses are horrible. As someone noted, they double the mattress pads which does absolutely nothing. I put the Klymit under the pads and every evening I might have to put one breath in them. Once they’re in place the room steward just makes the bed up on them. They roll up easy back into the carry bag they come in and don’t take up much room in my suitcase. I can’t recommend them enough. We just got home yesterday from 10 nights on Enchantment. Same terrible mattresses but we slept good on these. Got them on Amazon.
  9. How about a note saying here’s some cash for your cruise, spend it on whatever makes you happy. Or if it’s for your significant other, a cabin upgrade on your next cruise, which obviously requires cash and should make them happy.
  10. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Keep reading and you’ll find lots of information in the respective port of call forums for those ports. Here are mine. Belize, go on the ship tour to Lamanai. Jamaica, zip lining or stay on the ship Grand Cayman, CaptainMarvin to Stingray City Honduras, if you mean Roatan, check Victor Bodden’s website for options including touring the island and going to West End Village for good food, snorkel West Bay Beach, snorkel Half Moon Bay, head to Temporary Cal’s for lunch. Good luck to you!
  11. I use WiFi all the time in every port. Somewhere there’s a beach club or restaurant with WiFi. Even found a coffee shop in Puerto Limon and was able to FaceTime via WiFi. I never need cellular service for work email.
  12. That’s some really good pics of Galveston. Thanks.
  13. Resort for a Day used a nice motor coach.
  14. We went there in 2017 through Shore Excursioneer. The transportation and professionalism of Shore Excursioneer was excellent. The property itself was underwhelming. The beach is just like the rest of West Bay Beach. Take it or leave it. The pool is setback a little way from the beach so there were no vendors. The whole pool is in the shade so there was no sunny spot to sit. I mean, it was ok but not resort quality. There was also ongoing construction right around the pool area so the sound of hammers and circular saws was nonstop. Of course, that may have been completed by now. The food at the beach front restaurant was not good at all and was very expensive. If we choose to go to one of the resorts again I think I will try Infinity. As always, YMMV.
  15. Get him one of those awesome Invicta watches. Ok not really.
  16. We had enough points after the first night of the first leg. We were on Enchantment in September and made inquiries as to how we might get upgraded for the second leg. The LA on that trip (a different guy than this trip) told us to just ask and they would get it done. So we did thinking it might only apply to the second leg but he made it happen effective right then. TBH, I think the whole thing is overrated except the coffee is amazing.
  17. We usually write in $10 per meal if the service warrants, which it always has. Last cruise we had the Chops every day package and in addition to the $10 each meal we left $20 cash for the waitress who had served us every lunch and dinner.
  18. We are on B2B on Enchantment now and yesterday went to the LA desk to ask about having our C&A changed. After the first night of the first leg we were Diamond. It took less than 10 minutes and we left with our new cards. I imagine this would vary from ship to ship, like everything else.
  19. I can’t imagine a more accurate statement. This should be auto-populated before every post in every review thread. Thank you.
  20. There’s no way I could enjoy a cruise that cost anywhere near $1000 a day. Even $500. I don’t cruise to be treated like royalty; my wife takes care of that at home. The “cabin experience” means nothing to me. Is it clean and does my room steward take care of everything? Same with a hotel, resort or otherwise. We don’t go out to $200 dinners either so paying extra for a cruise because the food is perceived better would give me heartburn. We don’t pay $50K for a car either. For those that 1) have that kind of disposable income, 2) consider such things important, have at it. My idea of heaven for a week is not dependent on how much money I spend.
  21. There’s no WiFi network in your car. Even if you were in a location with a WiFi network just turning on WiFi won’t connect you to that network unless you have previously connected to it. Like my work WiFi. My devices automatically connect to the WiFi when I get to work because my WiFi is always turned on. Same with the Panera we frequent. And, of course, at home. Since I’ve previously connected to those examples my phone finds them automatically. As recommended, try it at home where you know you’re connected to WiFi.
  22. Yes that is correct, however, once you set up WiFi calling at home it is always ready to work. You don’t have to go to airplane mode until you get on the ship and are far enough out to lose your normal cell signal. Setting up WiFi calling has nothing to do with the ship’s WiFi or airplane more. It will work anywhere you happen to be where a cell signal is weak but you are connected to a good WiFi signal. For instance, I connect to the WiFi network at work but because it’s a metal building the cellular signal can be weak. The WiFi signal can take the place of the weak cellular signal, just like it does for data (surfing or texting). So... set it it up while you’re at home. forget about WiFi calling turn on airplane mode only when you need it (there are other times you might need it besides on a cruise, perhaps on a land vacation to another country) If airplane mode is on or off you will be able to use a strong WiFi signal to make and receive calls.
  23. We booked Rose Hall through Resort for a Day. Very nice property and decent food.
  24. The only Rose Hall I know of is Hilton Rose Hall Resort.
