Ken, maybe there is one I don't know about. I am hoping my travel agent can get this sorted...But it is helpful knowing other have used travel agents, so that should not be the problem..I appreciate the

    replies from everyone.

Have your TA get them on the line and do a 3 way call including you so you can all discuss the situation.

I just got my shareholder benefit applied a week or two ago and am using a TA so can confirm along with the others that using a TA is not the issue, it's something about your particular reservation. Hope you get it sorted out!

  2. I called Royal to prepay gratuities for my upcoming sailing. We have two cabins, both booked with a TA but different TAs. I was able to prepay my cabin, but they wouldn't let me prepay my kids cabin, said it had to be one of the passengers in that cabin calling. So I called back (as my daughter) and was told this time that I couldn't prepay, it had to go through the TA. Is this a HUCA situation or did I just get lucky the first time?

I suppose I should qualify that statement.  If I'm sailing out of San Pedro, I usually do go "day of" as it's an hour flight and about that same ride from LAX to the pier. Spending a day or two extra in LA isn't my idea of a good time. (stated by someone who grew up less than 5 miles from LAX)

We are in Vegas and are doing the same for sailings out of San Pedro. If the early morning flight gets canceled, we can still comfortably drive to the port that same morning. Anything further wouldn't risk it though.

You'll be seated in the same dining every night. However, you should be able to ask the maître d' to try another dining room. From my understanding though, all the dining rooms share the same kitchen, so you could probably just order off the other dining rooms' menu.

We are currently on the Edge as well and have only eaten in the Main Dining Rooms, although we don’t have a fixed time. It’s been a little hit or miss getting an item that’s featured from a different dining room than we were currently in. For example, tonight one of my dining companions requested the tiramisu for dessert, even though we were in the cosmopolitan and it’s a Tuscan exclusive.  Yesterday she requested the same thing from the same dining room, and got it without issues. Tonight the waiter essentially flatly refused to bring it, and said she could only order from the given menu.

How awful!!  Yes, huge mistake with getting lash enhancements onboard with swimming, showering and excursions.  This should NOT be offered onboard!!  And always get a skin test from whomever does your lashes if some place new.  I can't get them as I always get a reaction from the glue test.  I'd definitely follow through with getting reimbursement for the service, the medical, and follow up on land post cruise with her medical provider.  Was this her first time getting them?

I don’t think it was her first time getting them but yes, definitely a mistake to even consider these onboard in the first place. I am going with her to the spa manager today to ask for additional compensation in some form.

  6. I’m hoping to get input on our current scenario on the Edge. Sorry it’s a bit long.

Some travel companions, and I ordered the edge last Friday for a 10 day southern Caribbean cruise. On the first day, we went to the spa and made a number of appointments. One of my travel companion asked for Individual lash enhancements. There was a lot of confusion about what was offered versus their pricing sheet, which in hindsight should have been a red flag but nonetheless, my companion decided to go ahead and make the appointment for Saturday to have individual lashes applied. These are the glue on kind that usually remain on for two weeks or so.
At the appointment the technician seemed fairly inexperienced and fumbled around a lot and dropped things, and when she applied the glue, my companion immediately complained about how it was burning and making her eye tear up. They finished applying the lashes, and while the lashes themselves looked very good her eyes were puffy and irritated. The next morning, she woke up and could not open her eyes and went down to the doctor, and they diagnosed her with a severe eye infection, gave her antibiotics etc.

She has returned to the doctor again last night for the required follow up, and the doctor told her to go back to the spa and have them removed as it was worsening the infection. So she did that last night and it actually removed some of her own eyelashes making her eyes look even more sparse than before. The infection is getting better now, but still she was not able to participate in her planned water excursion yesterday because she could not risk getting the salt water in her eyes.
she did talk to the spa manager last night who was apologetic and (I think!) is planning to reverse the charges for the lash application. Also, they have not charged her (yet) for the medical center visits. However, I really think additional compensation is warranted but I’m not sure if that’s appropriate or just my own outrage. Of note is that she is traveling on a companions casino rate so only paid taxes and port fees, as well as gratuities.
Your thoughts? Or suggestions for anything else we should do?

We are having the same issue. Over $1800.00 for a balcony cabin. Can only book online.  😢

I was getting the same issue for the April dates but it worked fine for other dates. However I tried again last night and was able to book for the April 8th sailing at the $7 per day plus taxes and fees.

Got an offer yesterday, it might have been floating around for a while. We are booked on the Edge for Apr 7th for 10 days in a C1 Concierge. There was an upgrade charge for the Concierge but he said that was all they had left. All in it was $637 with port fees and taxes. Booking that cruise only would have been around $6000. I'll take it.

It seems like they changed the upgrade fees with this current offer. I called earlier this week to ask about upgrading from veranda to concierge/aqua for my March Equinox cruise and instead of the expected $10/day/pp or $20/day/pp upcharge, it was over $400. The rep told me it had changed since the end of the year. Hence, I elected to stay with my current veranda. I might call later and see if I get the same answer.

X offers lower cost per device when purchasing wifi for multiple devices.  But it looks like if H&W each want, say, one device, they have to pay twice the single device rate rather than getting the two-device deal.  Is that correct?  And how do they know who is using what device?

Definitely you'd want to buy the one person, two device plan and share with your spouse. You create an account/password and you both use the same credentials to log in.

I shared a one person, three device plan with my kid and his gf on my last cruise. No issues.

@kwokpot, yes you got a good deal at todays prices direct with Celebrity.....and although not the $2003.28 (comped room + AI with the current $386.56 port fees), through a good TA, I found you the same room for $3161 and $875 OBC (for a total of $2286) which is only a savings of $283.

Again, if you are looking for a "bare bones" cruise, the BCC offerings are a great deal. If you are looking for more, they might not be as much so.

I second @retird's sentiments.....to my CCfamily, Happy Holidays.....and May all your cruises be bright!

Wow good TA indeed with 28% of the fare back as OBC! Highest I’ve seen has generally been 10-15%.

That said, I cruised on the Solstice a few weeks ago, solo in a Concierge cabin and paid port/fees taxes for myself only. My final bill at the end of the cruise was ~$800 hence under $1k total for the 8 day cruise, gratuities, premium internet, 1-2 drinks a day.

Good point, I do carry battery packs with me. As you say, though, who would want to.

If I can buy a two or three device package and be able to use them concurrently (don't know why you couldn't). Looking for confirmation if that's the case.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Yep, I bought a one person - three device package for the three of us and we all used the same login/password. No problem with all three of us each using one device concurrently.

Tried for an Uber for 5 minutes without being accepted $58.

a cab pulled up to taxi tank so cancelled Uber.  At LAX by 8:30 for a 11:00 flight.

We had the same experience, Lyft/Uber wasn't surging yet but we couldn't get a driver to accept the ride. It was running ~$45-50 to LAX but pointless if no drivers were available.  We also elected to get a cab and  it cost ~$66.

My son was originally booked on an late afternoon flight but got to the airport in plenty of time to be standby on a 10:30 am flight and eventually got a seat on that flight.

All in all, a super easy and uneventful disembarkation, we never stopped moving except to pause briefly at the facial recognition scanner. I wish they were all like that.

So as it turns out I was able to book all three of us under the promotion 🙂

So far they are refusing to budge in letting us add the 3rd person without paying $1900. We tried telling them we know the exception has been made for others, then they wanted your name. 🙄

Have you guys been able to book the free cruise for more than two people ? All in the same room…

I have two Blue Chip free cruises booked currently, one in Mexico next month and one on the Edge in February. For the mexico cruise, I had no problem booking more than two people in the cabin, at taxes and port charges only.

They are telling me for the Edge cruise, I would have to pay full price, almost the cost of a inside cabin for 2, for the 3rd person. I might call them again and see if I get the same answer.

I just  called and got through quickly. He said the Edge cruises are  sold out but I was able to book one on the Equinox. They are also limited I was told and may have a slight obstructed view. It is a 2C Veranda but I don't care. Just returned from 10 days on the Silhouette and have 10 days on Equinox next month but I coudn't ignore a gift like this!

I was able to book two cabins on the Edge 10 day about an hour ago. Not many regular veranda cabins left on any deck, on the entire ship. I didn't ask if I could upgrade to concierge or aqua but maybe will call back and ask.

  16. I sailed on a TA leaving Oct 31 and got an email beforehand with the vaccination requirements clearly spelled out (bolding is mine):

    Dear Guest,

We’re excited to welcome you onboard for our Odyssey of the Seas Transatlantic sailing. Before you head to the cruise terminal, we wanted to clarify our requirements for our sailing.

Since we’re sailing on a Transatlantic itinerary, all guests 5 and older must be fully vaccinated, with the last dose of their primary vaccine regimen received no less than 14 days prior to sailing. Guests between the ages of 1-4 can sail, regardless of their vaccination status.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but would the 2024 spring and fall transatlantics usually be released at the same time as Europe 2024/2025? I'm cruising now and will pick up a few NextCruise bookings if there is a strong probability.

I was hoping there would be some hint as I’m also cruising until Sunday and interested in a Spring 2024 TA.
