  1. Al Oliver for the Pittsburgh Pirates claimed there is no such thing as bragging, there is just truth and lies.
  2. Some of the classes were informative, once we saw a Dali/Disney video. Got a dozen free prints, skipped the free champagne and read a book during the "auction". Will not be attending in the future.
  3. I agree with not booking through third parties, to deal directly with the airlines. Another rule I have is to not plan to fly into Florida during the peak of hurricane season.
  4. Mariner OTS had a drydock scheduled after a TA in 2018 and then the TA was cancelled. The Mariner came from Dubai to Barcelona and then we had to find another way to the USA. About 1,000 of us took the Carnival Horizon on its first trip to the USA, spent two nights in Barcelona before boarding the Horizon. Lucky for us RCCI gave us plenty of prior notice to book the alternative trip home.
  5. What if you have a criminal record? Is that still part of the application? Has anyone been denied a visa because of a criminal record? Possession of an oz of marijuana in 1970 in Pennsylvania was a felony.
  6. First time I saw the name I thought it was Tom, not Tim, which is why I looked into him further. Tommy's bro was named Jimmy.
  7. Tim Dorsey used to work for the newspaper in Tampa, is 61 years old and has written many novels about Florida and a serial killer and his drunken stoned sidekick. It is Florida history plus slapstick comedy and strange methods for killing enemies of society along with social satire. First novel was called Florida Roadkill.
  8. Just read Tim Dorsey's Atomic Lobster, was pleased to learn it involved a cruise ship out of Tampa. His writings are almost always about and take place in Florida. His style has been described as The Three Stooges meet Hunter Thompson. My favorite line from this one was about jewel sales on the ship, describing Tanzanite as being such a rare gem that it is found only on cruise ships.
  9. Went to get new glasses, mask required. However I was not required to wear a mask for my dental appointment. No mask either for my periodontist.
  10. Anyone have any idea when we will see any Asia cruises listed later than the first week in April, 2023? Want to book with RCI, but not the short cruises to Thailand and Malaysia out of Singapore.
  11. Back in 2012 we raced hurricane Sandy back to NYC and got there a day early, but the port was already closed so we headed to Boston and spent 10/31/12 in port there. We got back to NYC a few days later, turning a 9 day cruise into 13 days with no extra charges by NCL and the performers did extra shows. We always cruise in late October, great cruises and prices.
  12. We got to attend Mass in Lisbon, Portugal. Was a lot like Mass in the Philippines, plenty of extra music in a language I did not understand. Only required to say "Amen" after receiving the wafer and being told "Corpus Christi "
  13. Just tried to look at Asia cruises and only 3 come up, one TransPacific, one Tahiti, nothing for any of the usual out of Hong Kong or Singapore or even Japan. Is Asia really closed?
  14. Looking to get back toc ruising, have been avoiding booking anything to Bermuda, don't need any additional distractions. We have enjoyed our two visits, but this TA thing adds to the law of diminishing returns.
  15. There are also the not very well attended AA meetings.
  16. Know a guy in the Philippines who never left home until he went for his vaccine, tested positive 5 days later, spent 3 weeks in bed. Dr told him good thing he was vaccinated.
  17. Got married in the Philippines, where throwing rice is considered a food fight
  18. Hope to hear from the life-sentenced Yankee Fan soon, should be home by now. Guess his family is not doing as well as the Yankees.
