He should get it but if not automatic, I'd call right after points post. Takes about a week for points to post. I assume his birthday is more than a week later?

Yes. We’re just trying to figure out if we’ll have to book another sailing before he turns 18. After the one in which we gain D+ status. Since he won’t actually have the points, I’m wondering if he has to physically sail as a D+ before he gets it permanently.

  2. I know the basics about children having their parents’ status, but keeping their actual points. My question is in regard to when the status is officially obtained. Let’s say my husband and and I make Diamond Plus on our next cruise. My 17yo will also then get that status. But, does he have to cruise with us again, after we make Diamond Plus (because that status is not recognized until the next sailing), in order to keep Diamond Plus when he turns 18? In other words, let’s say he turns 18 right after the sailing in which we get Diamond Plus. Will he remain Diamond?

that would make sense except there are people that have been waiting since 2021 and haven’t received their Odyssey block and the couple we cruised with in April 2022 got there Odyssey block  awhile ago, while we haven’t received ours.

It appears to me that they just throw all names in a drum and names are pulled out like in the lottery..silly I know but that’s what it looks like.

it’s an easy change to make….send them by date!

You’re right. That doesn’t make sense at all.

But still wondering out of curiosity how they decide who gets blocks and in what order.  From what I’ve seen here and the other social page, some people have received their blocks for cruises taken well after others who are waiting for that same ship. RC seems to not know how it’s done because I’ve asked a few times!

The logic on how to do it seems so easy. First in, First out.  But we all know how the IT is on Royal. It seems they just have all who are waiting in a big bucket and just pull out random names like in a raffle.

My understanding is that it’s ship-dependent. There was one point where l read they were going to discontinue the program, until guests complained. As a result, some of the newer ships, such as Odyssey, did not immediately begin producing the glass blocks, thus resulting in a backlog. Just reiterating what I have read previously. However, that would explain why some are getting their blocks from the older ships prior to those who are waiting for blocks from Odyssey and Wonder, for example. I imagine some of the older ships ran out of stock as well, then did not reorder when they thought the program would be discontinued.

We were just on Odyssey last week, with the UDP. As soon as we got on we went to make dinner reservations and Wonderland was completely booked for the entire week. We got on the wait list but never got called. It was annoying because that was the primary reason we got the UDP on this trip. BUT, it was totally totally worth it. We did Chops twice, Tepanyaki twice, Giovanni's once, and Izumi once for dinner, besides a bunch of lunches. Don't miss the cheese soup at the Crown Pub - it is fantastic!

Can I ask what time you boarded? Also, was it just booked for the time you wanted, or for throughout the dinner hours? At any point did you try walking up? Thanks!

Without forums such as this we would be left thinking this. How hard would it be to add a paragraph in the cruise planner explaining how this all works?

Better yet, there’s no reason they cannot make it so that you can make all your reservations ahead of time when you have a package.

I think there’s a bus stop in front of the Riu hotels. There’s a public walkway/alleyway right next to the Hilton hotel (which is right next to the Riu Palace, and right across the street from the little downtown area with all the restaurants). If you take the bus to any stop where you can see either of those hotels, just hop off. You can also take a taxi for $13 each way. The bus is only $2.

I assume the bus is $2pp. What about the taxi? There’s 4 of us. Would that be $13 each way total for all 4 of us?

well, walgreens in our state do not offer the super rapid antigen test. The nearest one that offers it is 2 states away. Way more than an hour's drive.

We booked the one hour rapid antigen tests at CVS, and booked Walgreens 24 hour rapid tests as backup on the same day.

    Same.

  9. To update, they have moved us again, lol. This time to an ocean view with large balcony on deck 12. Ideally, we wanted to be on a lower deck, closer to the boardwalk. However, there do not appear to be any Oceanview with large balconies left available to book. We have not had a large balcony, and while my husband does spend a lot of time on the balcony, I’m wondering if it’s worth giving up the larger balcony to be closer to our ideal location? Can anyone give some input as to whether the large or “hump” balconies are worth it?

Got the email today to book a Covid test at the port for my 8 yr old granddaughter.  My ship Harmony of the Seas is not showing up as a ship to book it on . Strangely, Allure of the Seas comes up as Port Canaveral when they are in Ft. Lauderdale. Has this happened to anyone else?

How far in advance did you receive the email?

  11. Well, I called back and spoke to someone else, and they too confirmed that it is a room for 4 (as it has a double sofa bed), so I am not going to worry about it anymore! I like the location and it even looks like the balcony might be ever so slightly larger as, the hump balconies begin after that cabin. Thanks everyone!
