  1. On our cruise on the Quest in November the band in the Livingroom couldn’t play one evening due to rain water pouring in through the windows behind them. The ship it would appear is poorly maintained. However guest services were in the main extremely helpful anytime we had occasion to visit them. There was one lady with a bit of an attitude but thankfully we didn’t encounter her often.
  2. Yes it’s the quietest forum I’ve seen. I’m sailing with them 3rd February 2023
  3. If it’s an at home proctored test you’ll have to purchase the kit from a site which includes a tele call with an agent who watches you taking the test. You follow their instructions and then upload result to the site they give you, they then email you the result which you can show to Azamara. We did many of these last year when tests were still required to board in most countries. Just google proctored Covid test and I’m sure some sites will pop up, .
  4. The boarded in Dubai and no testing was required just proof of vaccination
  5. On our cruise in November on the Quest we heard half way through that 1 crew member had tested positive for Covid. I never heard about any passengers but there were many who looked unwell and there was a lot of serious coughing going on round the ship. Not sure if it was Covid or some sort of respiratory illness but we just tried to keep our distance from these folks as best we could, avoided the elevators and masked up on the bus on the way to to the Azamazing event and it paid off.
  6. We are on the cruise departing 3rd February. We were allocated a boarding time of 22.00hrs. I called them to ask if we would be able to drop off our luggage earlier than that as we will be checking out our hotel around mid day. The then asked if I wanted my time changed to the earliest check in time which I was told is 15.00hrs which I agreed to. according to the Costa app the cruise returns to Dubai at 05.00an so should be plenty time to make the flight. We are also flying at 13.35pm.
  7. If Im in the same cabin for both cruises I usually wait till the end of second cruise to tip if on B2B.
  8. Was there a currency exchange at the port in Doha and Muscat?
  9. We’ve only sailed Aqua class aft on Millenium class ships, where the cabins have massive balconies and a great shower or in a suite. If I was to consider another Azamara cruise it would have to be a Club Continent suite as my husband who’s a big man couldn’t cope with the minuscule bathroom and shower.
  10. Go for a Club Continent suite. The standard cabins are tiny with minuscule bathrooms. The club Continent suites are a great size with a decent sized bathroom. We chose one without a bath so we had a large walk in shower. As they matched our status with Celebrity that combined with the Suite discount gave us free Wi-Fi. You also get a free bag of laundry per week washed and ironed and afternoon tea delivered to your cabin as well as very substantial hors d oeuvres.
  11. Oh no. I bet you were taken task for that! I take it they were not confiscated? Did she also take her own hairdryer?
  12. I’ve cruised Azamara, Cekebrity RCL and NCL and these items are not prohibited only irons or steamers. It’s not so much the hairdryer as I’m sure I’d get by with the one provided but hair straighteners are essential to many women who don’t have poker straight hair including me!
  13. These items are listed under prohibited items. Surely this can’t be right! I’ve been on 20 cruises with other lines and it’s never been an issue having these in my luggage. Anyone had theirs confiscated?
  14. We asked a few couples we’d been friendly with throughout the cruise how much they were tipping their room steward as after tipping our favourite waiters in the bars we only had $100 left to tip our butler and room steward. If required we were going to leave some pounds as well as the dollars. As first time Azamara cruisers we just wanted to establish what others considered a reasonable tip on this cruise line as we didn’t want them to feel insulted if they only got $50 each. Looks like they must have been delighted as we may have been more generous than most.
  15. Me too but many we spoke to were leaving their room steward $10 for a 14 night cruise with no hint of embarrassment.
  16. As a first time Azamara cruiser in November I totally agree with your comments.
  17. We also tipped wait staff and room steward and from speaking to others found we were in the minority and those that were leaving a tip for their room stewards the average was less than a dollar a day for a 14 night. cruise!!! Most of the cruises I’ve been on have had tips included but I still like to tip extra especially to the room stewards. We always bring dollars specifically for this purpose.
  18. We had no issues with noise on the Quest. We were midship. Some cabins have a shower over the bath. We wanted one with just a walk in shower. Make sure you pick one that suits your preference.
  19. Hopefully we can as we will have to check out our hotel around 12.00am do if we can drop off our cases we can enjoy another day in Dubai and we can return at 22.00pm to check in. Ironically our hotel is closer to Port Rashid!
  20. We have just been given our boarding time as 22.00pm. We are overnight on the ship in Dubai. Is there the option to drop off our luggage at the port prior to this time as I seem to recall we were able to do this 7 years ago when we sailed Coasta from Dubai.
  21. Do they still have formal nights on Costa?
  22. We sailed with Azamara for the fist time in November and have previously sailed Celebrity mainly in Aqua Class last time being April 2022 . In terms of the ambience Discoveries is nothing like Blu. Blu is more comparable to a speciality restaurant in that it’s small and more intimate whereas Discoveries is more comparable to the main dining room on any cruise ship large and can be noisy. In terms of service in Discoveries we found this overall pretty good and comparable to Celebrity and as others have said if you find a server you like ask to be placed in their area. We were in a Club Continent suite which meant we could have breakfast in Aqualina, one of the speciality restaurants , and that gave us the Blu experience.
  23. Thanks for that. We board on 3rd February and am very much looking forward to it. We have the basic drinks package. Does that have a good enough selection of cocktails or will we have to upgrade in your opinion? was the passenger demographic mixed nationalities or mainly Italian?
  24. They were aware of it as initially we were told no visa no boarding then we were advised we could board but had to remain on the ship when in the Indian ports. The Indian Embassy took steps to release additional appointments every Saturday from the end of September but by that time many had cancelled, moved to another cruise or decided not to spend the £295 per couple and just remain on board. There were only 480 on our cruise. As I mentioned previously our cruise director was awful and many others on the Facebook page for Azamara agreed and dont think he’ll last long with Azamara.
