Who's sneering?
If you are insinuating it is me, then you are totally misguided.
The pool is not in service and has had numerous issues since she's been sailing, Cunard have been aware and have not resolved it, I believe it should've been resolved weeks ago, if that's what you consider sneering then so be it.
The was in use10 m ago when I walked through the pavilion. 3 swimmers.

I think the number of passengers who would be furious if the ship were taken out of service simply to fix a problem with the pool would probably exceed those furious at the pool not working.Quite!

This is an obvious serious fault not a maintenance issue.
It isn't a case of win or lose, it's a case of getting it fixed and not continuously closing it to paying guests.
It would seem that is what they are doing . It is also warranty i suspect.

What are you suggesting they do ? Cancel a whole sailing ?
They are taking the pool out of service again at the next available opportunity and warning passengers in advance. That sounds to me like they are treating it as a priority.
Quite! This a minor problem in the scale of seriousness.

No, you are not understanding me correctly.
Of course there will be issues arising on a new ship, my point being this should be a priority given the frequency of it being out of action.
A group of yard surveyors/engineers? were onboard while the ship was in Trieste. They seemed to spend time around both pools.

but its OK to close it for the whole duration of my cruise?
If that is solution for permanent fix unfortunately yes.

I'm also joining on the 11th October. I emailed customer services about it and their response was lacking substance. Basically said they would pass on my comments to the relevant departments. I booked this cruise on 8th September so they would have known there were issues with the pool at that time and they should be advising customers at the time of booking. Pretty poor show from Cunard. You would think that given it's a new ship, they would have programmed in a period of maintenance after a couple of months service to address any issues.
Pool has been open entire cruise since 22/9. It is not a problem
that requires taking ship out of service if that is what u mean.

Your helpful report and pictures, shocking to say, make QA sound much like the other Cunard ships, particularly in respect of the things I like. Whatever next? Many thanks.
BTW did you spot any rust?
Currently on board 2 patches of rust size of a 5p on balcony.

First answer was before the end of year, then maybe October.
We were told something similar when on board close to release of new cruises
In fact they came out while still on board a few days after the end of a promotion for existing cruises. A similar promotion ends on 16th Sept.

I have recently booked my first ever 'cruise' (crossing), on QM2 next summer. I'm looking forward to it and have carried out plenty of research both prior to and subsequent to my booking. I've noticed quite a few comments (including in this forum) about some staffing issues, including - but not limited to - decreased standards/competence among waiting staff in the main dining room (being served the wrong meal, food being tepid, lower quality ingredients, unhelpful attitude etc.), and staff appearing overworked/unmotivated (standing around talking at the bar and not being responsive to guest needs etc.). I wondered what could explain this apparent deterioration and noticed that in 2019 the Cunard website showed the following information in relation to QM2: 2,691 Guests, 1,292 Crew, but the website now shows 2,691 Guests, 1,173 Crew: a reduction of 119 crew members. Obviously there was some serious cost-cutting post-pandemic (and my guess would be that such a reduction in staff would result in savings of perhaps $2m a year on just the QM2 alone), but is it ultimately to the detriment of both passengers (who understandably expect high standards, especially if they have travelled with Cunard pre-pandemic) and even more so to crew members (who may face longer-shifts and more demanding working conditions with responsibility for an increased number of passengers)? Has anyone noticed a clear deterioration in service standards, whether in terms of the dining experience, quality of food, stateroom maintenance etc? Has this affected Britannia more than the Grills? Thank you in advance for your thoughts and observations!
No.

Thank you for confirming the schedule for your voyage M508.
Cunard ought to have listed April 19th as "Gala Evening - Optional" in your My Cunard calendar if they were intending it to be optional. But I think you're probably right that evening may turn out that way since it's the evening before disembarkation in Civitavecchia for many passengers.
I wonder if Cunard goofed when they scheduled the gala evenings for M508, not realizing it is bookable as two separate 7-night cruises ending/beginning in Civitavecchia. There should indeed be two gala evenings on both segments and the sea day on April 17th would be a better day for the second gala evening on the first segment. They might adjust the schedule accordingly. Please do keep us advised of any future updates.
On our 2022 QM2 12n fiords with calls to Hamburg both ways the sea day ex Hamburg to Southampton was Gala for those going onto NY but optional for those disembarking in Southampton.

Thanks for that update. I've been trying the site "portosdamadeira.com" which currently says "SITE EM MANUTENÇÃO". The "apram.pt" site does have the 2027 schedule. Here's what I'm seeing on that site.
Funchal
Queen Mary 2 - 15 Jan 2027 (origin Southampton; destination Basseterre)
Queen Victoria - 09 Feb 2027
Queen Mary 2 - 26-27 Feb 2027 (origin Ferrol; destination Dakar)
Queen Victoria - 25-26 April 2027 (origin Dakar; destination Lisboa)
QV's 25-26 April 2027 call to Funchal is completely reasonable for near the conclusion of her world voyage. But the 09 Feb 2027 call looks odd to me for a world voyage itinerary. Not sure what to make of that, especially since that call doesn't list any Origin and Destination ports as the other calls do.
It's quite reasonable to believe QM2 will be doing a Caribbean cruise, first calling at Funchal on 15 Jan 2027. But the suggestion that QM2 will be calling at Dakar after calling at Funchal on 26-27 Feb 2027 seems odd to me as well.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
i am only seeing upto Dec 24 now. Perhaps you are seeing more in the US?

QM2 Funchal o/n 26th Feb
Also Jan 27 which suggests Caribbean round cruises from Southampton. New Funchal site does not list these only upto Jan 26 but the older sire did.
