Very quiet day on board today. Lots of waves this morning so the pool was closed. But it’s quieter now. The ship is going very slowly right now. The big event was the town hall meeting re the changed itinerary. Lots of passengers discussing the options. Lots of questions. We are not affected as we get off in Brisbane. Hilo tomorrow.

Beautiful day at sea today. 23c, sunny but very windy. Deck 12 is closed “due to weather” and so is the front of the promenade/deck 5. In his update, the captain mentioned that the ship had increased speed to get closer to Hawaii faster as someone on the ship may need to be medically disembarked or evacuated. The ship is still planning to be in Hilo Saturday morning at its scheduled time. I hope this person gets better soon and sending good wishes to them and family/friends.

As I sit on an RCl cruise reading this thread, I have a key card hanging on a lanyard from my neck and I miss the medallion… I usually wear mine on a holder on my watch band. So convenient.

We witnessed a bit of drama last night when security was called to sort out an argument between 2 men on seats in the theater. The theater was almost empty, maybe less than a quarter full for the late show by the RCl singers. So lots of seats for everyone. Not sure why they were arguing but security sorted it out. Hopefully that is the last “drama” we have on the cruise lol.

First impressions of our cruise are good. The food is very good and the crew is excellent. They are very pleasant and friendly which makes the cruise even better. The ship is nice and in good shape for the most part. The closet doors in our cabin did not shut properly and were vibrating once we were underway. Maintenance were not able to fix them. They discussed moving us to another cabin but we were all unpacked and organized so we told them to remove the closet doors. The entrance is narrow in any event so not having closet doors makes it easier to access the closet. It works for us. Guest services told us there are now 1423 passengers on board which they say is a few hundred less than the previous segment.

First of five days at sea on our way to Hawaii. Cool (14 Celsius according to the ship info) and cloudy. Sun peaked out a bit from time to time but it stayed very cold all day. It was 8 Celsius on our balcony in the early evening. But still a relaxing day at sea. Our highlight was seeing dolphins jumping out of the water beside the ship.

We boarded the Serenade today. Very easy and quick process, no wait time to check-in and just a bit of a wait once boarding started because of congestion on the gangway. Our cabin was ready but our luggage was delivered late afternoon so we had time for lunch at the WJ before unpacking. We are now all settled in and going to watch the rest of the superbowl in the pool deck.
