    Tips All Cruisers Must Know!!!!

Sorry but the " no matter what" is incorrect. We bought carnivals air and we DID choose our seats, our times and our flights. IN FACT.. we then had another couple join us and carnival changed our flights so that all of us could travel together, being on the same flight, seats side by side all the way there and all the way home.. we arrived in miami by noon the day we left, which was saturday before our cruise so not only did carnival give us the opportunity to choose our flights etc.. but were also accomodating enough to then change everything for us, so that the other couple could be on our exact flights with us... Its not a fact what you stated. probably a normality.. probably usaually how it works. but it is not right to state something is a fact.. if it isnt.. all i did was ask them.. and they did everything we asked for Im nothing special, im not VIP i have only a few cruises under my belt so Im sure they are doing this for more than myself..

Hi Scarlet We didnt ask for a flight the day prior, but being in Canada i Guess they figured it best to fly us in early rather than the day of. The free travel insurance was offered thru the agency we booked thru, hhmm i booked those cruises for Dec in January 11 months prior and that agency was offering free travel insurance with any carnival cruise. As of this moment, and ever since, they are still offering free travel insurance with any carnival cruise, OR prepaid gratutities for all parties. I too was of the understanding that we would have to wait for a full van but we absolutely did not have to.. we were put on a shuttle belonging to the miami hilton rather than a carnival bus, however, it was the carnival rep who whisked us to the upper floor, flagged down the shuttle and gave us coupons to hand to the driver... it was within minutes of getting our luggage in fact I believe one of us didnt even have all bags yet, and she was whisking us off to the shuttle... and we were like one sec one sec.. it all went wonderfully smooth it was incredible Then to make our cruises even more enjoyable. for the first time we booked insides as we had already done the oceanview and balconies on previous cruises... i hate insides... we went to the pursers desk after spending one night in the inside,.. tho there was a sign that read " full ship no upgrades" or something like that.. we got a call from the pursers office askign if we wished to move from the verandah deck insides, to oceanviews.... two staterooms side by side... i said absolutely what is the additional charge.. and the response was" compliments of carnival" ... maybe because we were doing back to backs i do not know but i did not complain ..

Totally Disagree with Carnivals Air being Horrible

Just a couple of points... Lynyrd the $599 was indeed for a return flight and not one way Scarlet I too am on the east coast being St Johns Newfoundland is the most easterly city in all of North America.

Heres how it worked for us.. we flew from st johns newfoundland canada to miami. The cheapest airfare we could get was approx $900 pp. We then would have had to pay for our hotel in miami and transfers, adding another several hundred dollars. Thru carnival, we paid $599 for the return airfare, which was teh EXACT flights we would had taken if we booked ourselves, being st johns to toronto, toronto to miami arriving at noon miami time. The $599 included the hotel in miami, our transfer from the airport to hotel on saturday, our transfer from hotel to cruise on sunday, and transfer from cruise to airport after both cruises were finished. We chose to stay an extra week and go to orlando, carnival flew us home from orlando rather than miami, they had to problem whatsoever making this change for us.

We all had our seats preassigned months before flying, no charge, yes all four of us were seated together on the to and return flights. In the hotel our rooms were side by side.

If you purchase Air thru Carnival and they fly you in the day before the cruise, your hotel is automatically included, as is your shuttles to and from.
  9. I have to say I cannot agree with the tips you have noted for cruisers as it relates to Carnivals air program and shuttle service. We did a back to back in December, and used Carnivals Air. It was absolutely wonderful for us and heres why.. 1. The airfare was actually several hundred dollars cheaper than what we could had obtained it for ourselves, thats several hundred per person, and im the type of person who will check for specials and discounts and promotions daily, getting the best deal we can, nothing compared to the prices offered thru carnival. 2. Included in the cost of the airfare was a Saturday overnite at the Miami Hilton. We had a few discussions with others who flew in the day before the cruise who didnt use Carnivals air and had to not only pay for their own hotel for that night, but also their shuttle to and from the airport /, cruise terminal 3. Included in the airfare was not only the room for the saturday night, but shuttle service to and from the cruise ship. Two of us couples travelled together, each couple receiving their own hotel room, and all of us receiving the shuttle service...which was fabulous. Carnival met us at the airport and whisked us to our hotel, within minutes of getting our luggage. no delays no problems nothing but wonderful service. We enjoyed the day in miami , next morning waited for the carnival shuttle in the lobby and were taken to the cruise port.. as noted, all included with the airfare which was hundreds of dollars cheaper, per ticket, without even considering the hotel and transfers. After the cruise we were taken back to the airport, again, all included in the airfare thru carnival. 4. Our travel insurance was also free, a promotion at the time, and the pamphlet we received was every bit as good as other insurances I could had purchased separately. We are now in the process of booking our 5th and 6th cruises, and even tho we have enough air miles to fly free, we are paying for the carnival air, so that we can save our air miles for flights to somewhere other than a cruise, our position is its almost a waste to use the airmiles for a cruise, when we can take advantage of the great savings and deals on something so wonderful and inexpensive as carnivals air program.

    Question concerning Transatlantic Cruises

I guess its true anything could be, when it comes to weather, but is there a " norm" or.. is it more than likely the thought would be " ugh i wouldnt cross those five days the seas are usually terrible, or the temperatures are not usually good, also, does anyone know where they would cross over? just how far south would the ship go before crossing over.. thanks
  14. We are looking to book the transatlantic on the Freedom in April of 2008. Would be great to see the European Ports, however, just a few concerns im hoping someone can shed some light on for us #1. What is the weather like in the mid atlantic In April / May. Im figuring it crosses over near bahamas, and thus would likely be warm however others are thinking it would be very cool if not cold. #2. Are the 5 days at sea doing the actual crossing long and boring, if the weather is nice would be ok but im thinking 5 cold long days at sea may not be too good. Hopefully im way off and in fact it would be 5 wonderfully enjoyable warm days. Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Bumped out of *Cabin

Our cruise was booked to capicity, upon boarding the pursers desk had the infamous sign.. no cabins or upgrades available. It seems from what Im reading that, had my agent been willing, there could have been some shifting done? I was simply advised hhmm im checking here and there are no trips or quads available so I cant move you to a different room to accomodate your son. I dont know, all I know is, impossible we could had been moved. maybe it was such that every single cabin was booked for only the exact number of people in it, but somehow i find that hard to believe, a ship full of perfectly placed cabins. The second week of our sailing, we did back to back, we were given an ocean view ( we were in an inside and as it was my first inside, i really didnt like inside at all) On wednesday of the first week, I approached the purser asking for an upgrade if possible, and we would pay teh diff. They moved both myself and the other cabin to side by side Ocean Views, free of charge. Strangely enough tho, I had tried to book this prior to sailing, and was advised there were no Ocean views available, let alone side by side. Somehow they became available and we were accomodated. Im new to cruising and not like many of you, I have cruised only three times, I dont understand I guess how all this works. I'll learn as I go im sure.
