But by virtue of being a passenger, you have a reserved seat and reserved staffer in the MDR, that you are responsible for. If you choose to forgo this it is your option, but you are still responsible for your reserved spot and staffer.

 

Besides:

1) People are still serving you at alternate dining in different ways, and you are responsible for them. You are eating somewhere.

2) If the $3.50 or $4.00 per day that your MDR waiter gets from your $13.50 charged gratuities is 15% of your cruise fare, SEND ME THE NAME OF YOUR TRAVEL AGENT!

I understand what you are saying, but never knew this. We were asked about a dining time like we had time pick one. We usually only do MDR on elegant nights. I guess now I know to cancel. I wonder why you can't choice this when you book?

I also thank you for the responses. usually it's just my husband and I, however he decided to take his twin girls on a cruise for their 21st birthday. We were told the beds would need to be twin, now I understand.

I will say, that I have been impressed with our governor (and not a fan of him) and how proactive he has been and what he is saying. Sitting outside near an interstate we saw a line of electric trucks getting on the interstate, trooper and other persons already deployed to locations near by ready to move in and help when storm passes.

I also liked what he said which was something to the effect if you didn't heed all the warnings and numerous times you were told to evacuate don't expect to be rescued until the danger has passed he wasn't putting all the people ready to provide help and aid at risk.

Yes everyone be safe. We evacuated from the treasure coast and was fortunate that we left early and have a spot in an rv park. At this point I think they are turning away about 2 rv's an hour as they are full. I never thought or dreamed about a situation like that. Be safe vacations can be rescheduled you cant.

You are correct, we are in an RV parliament in the panhandle and they are turning people away because they are fill. I was also told several hotels are sold out here.

I live in Palm Beach County and believe me, no one will be sitting on the deck having a martini Friday..........this is a category 4 storm and it is not going anywhere except up the coast of Florida if not directly onto the peninsula of Florida. By the way, Carnival has no control over the ports openings or closures. That is determined by each Port Authority......

Yes category 4 is not good, please be patient with the cruise lines. We currently left the treasure coast and are now waiting it out in the Florida panhandle. Matthew has changed its path and can continue to do so. Believe me the cruise line wants you money but safety first,

Update: Orlando is also under a hurricane warning. East Coast is in serious trouble. And they are saying it's possible Matthew will strengthen back to a Cat 4. There is also a good chance it will loop around and come back next week or so.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

 

Now I am officially scared. We live in Melbourne.

I imagine the upsell fairy might be calling a lot more people than normal right now as people are offered refunds for rerouted or shorten cruises due to Hurricane Matthew.

It is a big storm and no one should complain about cruise delays or port changes, it's about your safety and the crews.

While many have money invested Carnival tries on their end to make it right by future cruise credits, etc. Unfortunately airlines are another beast.

We actually live in Florida and don't usually leave but some instinct told me to leave and we have left and are now in the panhandle. Safety first! I hope all are safe and any future cruising you have is enjoyable. Be happy.

Wow, 12 hours in Key West?! Where do I sign up? That's a change I would love. Plenty of time to hang around town and get to partake in the sunset celebration. Awesome!

Agree with you. Usually the Key West port is to short to enjoy both day and night activities. A shame that a Hurricane is the cause of the change.

Yes Princess is more accountable. Once our group must have been let go to early because we went back to our room and the entire hallway had crew members standing down the hallway about every 6 cabins or so and told us we couldn't go in the cabin, we needed to be at the Muster drill.

It was a sight seeing the crew members like that. We started to explain we were just let go and the annoucement came, they apologized for stopping us and off they went.

Now Carnival I have no idea how they would really know if I showed up because even if they got a count and totalled it, they don't know what people missed it. They also take much longer than Princess in gathering everyone.

I prefer Princess's method but I will still cruise both Carnival and Princess.
