  2. Yea the opposite directions of transatlantic voyages are really unusual. Off topic but I will be on the next Greenland cruise after you (25th July)!
  3. The new Canary Island cruises are just loaded on NCL website today.
  4. This was my experience before in 2019, Norwegian Dawn in New York (but I guess it does not matter which ship or port). I booked the IX inside guarantee, and the cabin number was assigned just one day before embarkation. When I was at the pier, the check-in staff was confused as they could not find my key card. In their record, that cabin number was shown with another passenger's name, but not mine. After around 15-20 minutes of checking, they finally managed to print the key card for me. I was able to keep the same cabin number. But the problems were not totally solved. All of my reservation records seemed to be lost. I did not receive the pre-book shore excursion tickets in my cabin and had to ask the excursion desk for help. My prepaid Internet package also cannot be activated, and the staff at Internet center had to fix it for me. Even my onboard credits did not appear in my account but fortunately I printed the booking confirmation for record. My NCL mobile app did not work properly either when I logged in each time, and this annoying problem lasted for the entire voyage. Also the sparkling wine for NCL members was not placed in my cabin although this was a minor issue. I believe all the troubles were caused by the last-minute guarantee cabin assignment. The other passenger possibly booked this cabin, and was upgraded afterwards. This cabin was then assigned to me but NCL onboard system did not update the record instantly.
  5. The "final payment deadline" and the "free cancellation deadline" is not the same date. Usually the latter is one month earlier. For example, if the final payment deadline is June 3rd, the free cancellation deadline would be around May 3rd. If you want to cancel without penalty, you have to inform your travel agent before May 3rd. But you can wait until June 3rd to settle the final payment.
  6. Summer is not the traditional cruising season in Asia. Cruise ships usually start coming from October, and stay until around April. Major cruise lines tend to deploy their ships to Alaska, which is more profitable and can only operate in summer. Some other cruise ships sail in Europe in summer, and relocate to Asia in winter. Even though the Asia cruise industry resumes back to normal after the pandemic, I don't think there will be too many choices in summer 2023 or even summer 2024 on the larger cruise ships. There will be more choices in late autumn, winter, and early spring.
  7. I believe NCL goes to Greenland for the first time in 2022, and to Longyearbyen for the first time in 2023. All these itineraries are on NCL Star. So it is unlikely that you can find any reviews from the NCL forum at this stage. But you can try to search from the reviews of other mainstream cruise lines such as Princess, Holland America, MSC as they have sailed to there before.
  8. I guess some "compensation" FCCs are not qualified. For example I have a FCC which was offered for itinerary change / port cancellation due to weather issues. The deadline is still this year. Deadline of my other CWC FCCs are extended to the year 2049.
  9. "Our systems still require an expiration date on file, so in the next few days we’ll update our records to reflect an expiration date far in the future" I have checked on system that the expiration date becomes 31st Dec 2049 😂
  10. NCL announced this in February this year. As a token of our appreciation and in recognition of time lost due to our suspension of voyages, any CruiseNext deposit that was purchased between January 1, 2018 and March of 2020 has now been granted a final extension of two additional years from the original book by and sail by date.
  11. The 10% discount coupon that you have received as compensation from the previous cruise cancellation by NCL. I am not sure if each time it is the same code. Last year it was DISC10. A few weeks ago it was CHITN10D when NCL cancelled the 2023 Getaway Baltic cruises. This month NCL cancelled the 2022-2023 Sun Asia cruises and I am waiting to see what is the code for the 10% discount this time.
  12. The Colonnade is the buffet restaurant on Seabourn ships.
  13. Right. They describe this as "world cruise" but the itinerary does not really circumnavigate the world. Antarctica is likely to be scenic cruising...
  14. Just announced! 150 nights Miami to San Francisco, departing on 7th January 2025 https://www.rssc.com/2025-World-Cruise https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/27560-regent-reveals-150-night-2025-world-cruise.html

  16. Not yet for overseas cruise lines, but only their domestic Japan-flagged cruise ships.
  17. In that year (2016), QM2 and QV came to Hong Kong on 29th March, while QE arrived on the next day 30th. Below pictures were taken at the same location on two consecutive days. Let's spot the difference between QV and QE! 😉
  18. This is the first time that I've heard about this regulation. Is it because of security concerns?
  19. And with a bathtub. Junior Suite guests can access the Silver Dining area. Other higher categories of Suite guests can access both the Golden Dining and Silver Dining area. When Spectrum sailed in Hong Kong a few months ago, Diamonds can access the Silver Lounge.
  20. Here is a list of benefits for various suites on Spectrum of the Seas. Junior Suites belong to Sea Class.
  21. (B) and (C) are the same. Even only deposit is paid, they will still offer refund + 10% FCC.
  22. My TA has checked with Oceania and they told us to ignore the details on the first cancellation email. The two options are: (A) Rebook to 24th Oct with same category and same price, plus USD 250 per cabin OBC. (B) Cancel and refund, plus receive 10% FCC (book before 11th May 2023, sail before 11th May 2024). Then you can use the FCC to rebook other voyages later. If you choose (A) but your category is on waitlist, I hope they will arrange to upgrade you.
  23. I think this refers to Caribbean, Alaska, or Mediterranean... No matter it is NCL or Oceania or Regent, there are a lot of cancellation from guests on the Baltic cruises.
