I wonder if the hurricane hit the island.

As I noted, you can cab it, water taxi it, or take a tour, whether ship's tour or independent. Depends on what else you want to do, where ship's tours go, budget, time in port, etc
It's at least 60 and often closer to 75 or 90 minutes from port to most of the beaches, and a cab to Soufriere runs around $90usd one way - depending in where in Soufriere.

Does anyone know if you can buy Disney stuff without staying at the resort?

There are lots and lots of black sand beaches in St Lucia. Most all visitable from port .. Which one do you want to visit?
The most well known is Anse Chastenet, in Soufriere. You can reach via cab or water taxi or tour.
There's Ti Kaye, Soufriere beachfront, Sabwicha, Anse I'vorgne, and so forth.
Most are - at least - an hour from port.
Maybe check them out via Google pics, etc and then narrow down which you may want to visit.
So do you think I can get a taxi to it off the ship or would it be better to do an excursion to one?

Has anyone been to one of the black sand beaches? Can I get there from the ship? Thanks!

For me it's the 1931 81st. - If you can find it. Followed by Royal Oak.
Both fine rums, complex and not messed about with.
You could try the small supermarket.
Directions: Look from the ship to the covered local stalls market selling spices, souvenirs etc
To the left of the covered market is a road, with a junction turn to the left. On the left corner is a building which looks like offices. This is the supermarket.
Thank you!

Did you find you could find things to do or did everything seem to close up at 10pm? Did you feel sea sick at all? My hubby gets it and I am hoping this ship is stable.

The travel affidavit is different than the VISA.Carnival's website advice says thisTravel Affidavit- According to U.S. travel requirements, all guests must complete a travel affidavit that identifies which authorized category of travel they will be using to enter Cuba. Please print your affidavit (revised travel affidavit dated 11/09/17 – prior versions are no longer valid) when completing your Online Check-in and present a completed copy at embarkation. Guests are also responsible for retaining a copy of their affidavit for their records for five years. -
We received it at check in. Take your VISA to your room as you don’t have to fill it out till you get off in Cuba. Be very careful filling it out as you can not make a mistake on it. You are only allowed ONE! The $75 is added on you sign and sail card.

We just got back. They do have one working and anyone can use it.

Just got back. Used Blexie our driver was Mary! She and the driver were wonderful! It is very hot so we did a hard top and loved it. You can fit 4 people in all the cars. If you don’t do a hard top then you will all be hot. We also did the Strawberry Walking tour. You will do a lot of walking. Make sure you get some of the 25 cent CUC coins as they call this the “pee pee coins” you will need one every time you use it. You will need towelet paper or small tissues when you use it too. I will be happy to answer any questions.

Has anyone done this snorkel yet?

If you use the search function (upper right side of the board) you will find many reviews of Playa Mia -- Mitsugirly has a detailed, photo intensive review linked in her signature.
You can book Playa Mia on your own - check out their web site for various packages - and taxis are easy and plentiful; expect to pay about $17 each way for up to 4 passengers in the cab.
I’m sorry but I’m not finding her post.

I wonder how much it will change after dry dock...

So should I figure out how to get the Canadian money or just us my American money? My bank will charge me to even get the Canadian money so is it worth the hassle to get it or can I just exchange my American money when we get to Cuba?
Things to do around Le Havre..

We are thinking about renting a car. Not having a lot of luck finding one open when we are there on a Sunday. Looking at doing a tour with Viator for a day to the DD sites. Anyone had luck on renting at this port?
