Mutany on the Mary

Thank you Melissa for your report from the ship. Sometimes things don't go the way we want them too but one needs to grin and bear it. I'm surprised at the behavior of the British passengers. A Boston television station news employee who sailed on 1/3/06 with us emailed me to say how childish people can behave. He also said he wouldn't mind living on the ship. I think I can say my wife and me would love to be able to do the same thing. As for now, we are waiting for the final 2007 sailing schedule to be posted so we can book our 3rd voyage on the Queen. Of course we reserve the option to do a sailing later this year if all goes well. Peter Chisholm

Seems like some adults need to grow up. This week at Framingham State College we are remembering Christa Corrigan McAuliffe, the first teacher in space and a graduate of the College, who died in the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger 20 years ago January 28. She and her colleagues didn't need to be there, no refunds were offered, no half price services, they just died. ------------ Many time large coporations make errors and their customers want to go after them. This is a time for the corporation to go after the customers.

We're heading out tomorrow morning around 8:00 a.m. to stay ahead of the snow. I'm definetely driving to NYC and will hope to see dry weather when we return. A college student will be staying at our home. He stayed this past September when we were in Aruba. We are staying at The Park Central Hotel on Monday and plan to arrive at the pier by 11:30 a.m. to get into the line. As I recall, they started boarding around 12:15 last year. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Peter and Barbara

Today, I decided to drive to New York next Monday. We will head to the Pier on Tuesday morning. I am going to leave our car on the roof top parking deck, same as we did last year. I can unload luggage on the 2nd level on the way to parking area and check it right there. $180 for the 12 nights. I need to get a better plan to pick up my wife and luggage as I exit the pier. Bit of a problem last time but we made it OK. I expect some snow but am hoping for the best. I will have a broom, shovel and boots in the car in case....... LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD.

What service! My wife asked me tonight about the number of formal nights, semi formal, etc, and the answer appeared as soon as I logged on tonight. Thank you all. Weather in the Northeat looks OK for Monday/Tuesday, temps in the 40's, lows in he 30's and maybe some rain. We can deal with it. We are also getting in on Monday to look at the city's Christmas decorations, the tree at Rockerfeller Plaza, and whatnot. The 4 formal nights seems right although I thought there might be 2-3 semi-formal nights instead of one. We are each bringing 2-3 suitcases although one of mine will contain soft drinks for early AM/ middle on the night sitting on the balcony, even though I buy a soft drink pass onboard, and about 10 Amstel lights I have in the refrigerator. I'll use that suitcase for bringing home purchases we make on the trip. I bought a new pair of tux slack with an expandable waist - that's what I call thinking ahead. One week to go.

I saw a couple of notes I will try to answer. Boddington's is an ale and it's not heavy tasting. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I used the self service washing/dryers on our trip. Had to search about 3 decks to find washer not in use. And, someone took my clothes out of the dryer when they were dry but before the cycle ended. The dryer was spinning and the culprit was waiting for it to finish so they could put their clothing in it. Of course that was nothing, wait until the half price sail on t-shirts and baseball hats. It matched anything I heard about or saw at Filenes Basement. That might have been because it was the ship's first season. The photo in an earlier message is beautiful. The ship looks like a true Queen. We can all take tomorrow off and then the countdown can begin. Happy Holidays to All.

Hello: Travel - to - Go Are you having friends drive you to the pier or are you leaving your car there? We left our car at the pier last November which was very convenient but I am hesitant about doing it in mid winter. I am thinking about taking something called the limo-liner bus from Boston to the New York Hilton weather permitting. It's a luxury bus with only 20 seats, snack service, etc. and the fare is about the same as the train. If not we'll take the train. In any case we are going down on Monday so my wife can see the 5PM Christmas show at Radio City Music, the lights, window displays, etc. I'll settle for the ND - Ohio State Fiesta Bowl Game that is also scheduled for 5PM.

Hello All: The excitement really started when I watched the QM2 depart on 12/20 around 7:50 pm on webcam. I had set it on my computer around 5 and kept checking back every ten minutes. Finally it started moving bit by bit. It was great knowing that we'll all be on it when it next sails away. 10PM the Commodore Lounge, I'll be fortified by a few Boddingtons by that time. Happy Holidays to All. Peter

10:00 PM at the Commodore Club for a couple of beers is fine with me. Then off to G32 to dance. 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Chart Room sounds great as well particularly for those who might not make the Commodore Club the night before. Peter

Hello All: Where have we agreed to meet on Tuesday and at what time? Might be a good time to talk about land excursions and see what everyone is thinking. I have a contact in St. John that might be able to arrange a visit to a beach. Let me know in advance and I will email them this week or next and see if they can arrange something. They own a company called St. John Spice located two minutes from the ferry. My email is: peter.chisholm@comcast.net Looking forward to meeting everyone. For me the drink of the day will be Boddington's or Harp. In fact those will be the drinks of the day for 12 days aboard the magnificent QM2. I too would also enjoy a cold evening sailing down the Hudson and into open waters knowing what lies ahead. I think we will begin to notice the difference in climate by noon on Tuesday.

Ryan: Pleased your friend is set and you booked your tickets. As I said earlier we also booked thru Amercian Express. I'm waiting to see what they offer me since it's the fourth cruise we've booked with them. Start dieting. Peter and Barbara

It would be fun to meet prior to casting off. Maybe we coiuld get togeher about and hour and a half before sailing. Commodore Room would be fine. If you'd like drop me a note to confirm; peter.chisholm@comcast.net As an aside, I was invited onboard the ship last week in Boston. I had written a review of my earlier sailing that ran in 3-4 papers in the Boston area and the Cunard PR staff were kind enough to invite me onboard. And, they were extremely helpful to everybody (travel agents/media/VIP's) while I was present.

What Happened when QM2 cant pull into port?

I have found that if one is going ashore to freelance, it's best to be there fairly early 8-8:30 so will be sure to get on the one of the first tenders. If you have pruchased a toru offered on board, then they will handle getting you on a tender in time for your tour. NBCNewsGuy You may have missed a posting of mine earlier this week asking you to email me. I'm from Boston and work in PR and government relations among other things. I am a spokesperson for a college and a public safety department and my face usually hits the tube 3-4 times a year. I would like to chat with you prior to the 1/3 sailing. Also my wife manages a cable tv outlet. Thanks. peter.chisholm@comcast.net
