  1. Sorry to hear your daughter has tested positive with Covid, but hope she only has a mild dose. The rules regarding children going to school when someone in the family has tested positive are just plain madness!!
  2. I can understand the disappointment, but as the saying goes better safe than sorry. I am sure your husband will still have a good birthday. Take care
  3. Dry and sunny down here although the wind is a bit on the chilly side. Although it's now more like a breeze compared to last night!
  4. I don't know. I can only say what happened to me.
  5. Have heard nothing about boosters for us. Hubby is due for his now and I'm due for mine three weeks later. My eldest daughter (with MS) and my youngest son (front-line worker) have had theirs, but not sure if my youngest daughter who's a nurse has, but they all work in Truro, so a different area.
  6. I had a cruise booked for November this year with my TA and wanted to move it to January 2023 when they were released, but had to wait until they went on general sale. It was the same price when I transferred it.
  7. Probably by tier then , as I am Mediterranean and our surname begins with C!
  8. I haven't had anything from P&O, despite having cruises booked, but have received e-mails from a couple of travel firms.
  9. Sue, sorry to hear you're feeling low, hope you feeling better today. I have nothing interesting lined up. My job finishes end of next week, so I suppose I should be looking for something else, but I've got that can't be bothered feeling. On a brighter note, the sun is shining after all yesterday's rain, although it is still windy.
  10. Morning all. It's a damp, dull and breezy day down here but not really cold at 16oC. Not doing anything exciting again today, just got work this afternoon and early evening, but it's so quiet it makes the shift seem endless! Hope everyone has a good day, whatever they have planned.
  11. Thanks for the advice, but having looked into the cost of transport, getting to the port, etc have decided it's not worth it!
  12. Nice to see what everyone has been up to since I was on here yesterday lunchtime. I spent a very quiet evening at work yesterday, so quiet that we sat and watched Strictly Come Dancing, between checking in a few guests and serving drinks in the bar. Finished work at 10 pm last night and back in again at 8.30 am this morning, feels as though I didn't go home! Another quiet day, quite a few check-outs but only three check-ins, so spent some time online looking at cruises. Been looking at some cruises with MSC in November, undecided, but I'm very tempted though!
  13. Fish and chips here about £8 for a regular portion, a bit more for large. I have no idea what they are in St. Ives, but I expect they are more!! Have been up to Tesco and quite a few of their shelves are empty. I couldn't get the wine I usually buy either, so am trying some alternatives! Did get a turkey crown for next week, which was the main reason to go. Everyone seemed to wearing masks too.😀 Just having a bit to eat before I head off to work in a while.
  14. Thanks Sue. Hope your grandchildren enjoy their early birthday presents, Michelle. Our local chippy skins the fish too. Quite a while since we've had fish and chips, although I have a hard time resisting the batter Was foggy when I got up, couldn't across to the coastline. Cleared up now and the sun is shining with a temp of 13oC, looks all set for a lovely day. Going shopping later with my daughter as we are having a family meal next week, so off to Tesco's to make use of my discount! Then off to work this afternoon until late. We are fully booked tonight so not sure if it will be busy or quiet, or a mix of the two. Time tends to drag if the latter. Have a good day everyone.
  15. Not been around much, as been feeling low, but have been lurking and reading everyone's posts. It's been bright and sunny down here all day to today and a pleasant 14oC and has been nice all week. Had yesterday and today off work, but haven't done anything exciting, just spent them catching up on various chores. At least I've got all the ironing done. Work finishes in another couple of weeks as the hotel is going to be closed for redevelopment, so have spent some of the time looking for another job and have applied for two, so fingers crossed🤞.
  16. Lovely picture. It has bought back memories of my geography field course and we walked for miles around the area.
  17. Quite a mild day down here at 13oC, the sun has been shining but it seems to be clouding over now, but rain was forecast. Got today and tomorrow off work, so meeting a friend later for a catch up and a coffee.
  18. Just having a read through all the posts and catching up after having been at work all day. It was a quiet day at work and the weather has been a real mixture of sunshine, drizzle and heavy rain. We even had a bit of hail and thunder thrown in. Chilling now with some wine after having cooked dinner, clearing up can wait until tomorrow!!
  19. I am so sorry to read this. It is traumatic going into hospital for an operation and to be sent home and have to go through it all again. I really feel for you. Fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long.
  20. I used to save the points and then buy lunches or treat myself to something to eat. I think I have lost out on the changeover!
  21. Thank you to all of you who have given me words of encouragement after my last MRI scan results. It came a shock to learn that something has appeared on the scan after being clear for so many years. Glad everything went well for you Josy, fingers crossed everything is OK.
  22. Am still chilling after a late shift at work, should be in bed as start work again at 8.30 tomorrow morning, but after the telephone conversation with my consultant today I can't switch off! Had a routine MRI scan of my brain in July and results have picked up an area he wants to monitor. I t's been proved I'm not right in the head🤣 He wants to increase my routine scans from one yearly to three monthly. Told not to worry at this stage and not to get concerned. It's easy for him to say, but not so easy to do!
  23. Hope all goes well and wishing you a speedy recovery. A nice sunny day here, after all the rain we have had, still windy though. Just been out to check the pear tree and rescue and windfalls before the slugs get at them. I''m working late again today, as I have a phone appointment with my consultant, but other than than I've nothing planned. Hope everyone has a good day.
