  1. Just catching up after this morning's post.

Damien, sorry to hear that your Day and son have caught covid and that neither of them suffer badly  with it and both you and Michelle stay well.

Husband has his booster jab tomorrow.

After applying to re-new my driving licence last September (2020) it has finally arrived - only took 13 months!!! Funny thing was I was only talking about it with my friend at work before I left and was wondering how I could find out what the situation was, as it has been hopeless trying to ring and e-mail them.

Well it’s all gone a bit bad here I’m afraid.

Joshua’s mum tested negative- hooray! Then …

About 9-15am Wednesday I phoned my mum for usual daily call and she said my Dad had just been taken to hospital in an ambulance with chest pains!! They’d waited 45 minutes for an ambulance and she hadn’t told me. She kept telling me she was alright but we both had a little cry. They told her they’d probably bring him back in a few hours. Well he’s still at the hospital, he’d had a ‘small’ heart attack.

Luckily Wednesday is my day off and as it was the day before Joshua’s birthday his mum was off to make cake etc so I didn’t have him. I decided to get the bus over to my mum. Good thing I did as a cardiologist called their landline a couple of times and my mum’s speech isn’t great so I was able to do that. When John got home from work he came over and mum made us dinner as she’d got it all ready for Dad bless her!

She’s been staying with us since, there’s no way she can be on her own.

My poor Dad didn’t get into a ward til nearly 10pm!!! Luckily he has his mobile phone with him so he’s been phoning us and we’ve been phoning him. Took mum to see him yesterday but only one visitor allowed. So I had to walk her to the ward and then lurk outside. She had her walker and a carry bag with dads things in. When someone opened the door I shoved the bag at him and said ‘can you help her’ and he did , turned out he was a doctor!

The reason I’m so early is mum came into our room at 430am worrying where she’d put something…! This is not going to be easy.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Must dash as off to work.

    Take care.

It's been a cool day today first time I looked this morning we had 4.c but went out for a

walk which was rather chilly with the biting wind .We have got up to a nice sunny 11.c

and I'm glad to be back in the warmth of our house again .

The Daughter has rung up to give me an update of our Granddaughter regarding the

covid and she was pleased to say she was testing negative this morning  but then

went on to say that she has herself now tested positive :classic_sad: but not feeling too bad .

Her and the hubby have only had one dose of the vaccine so far ,so lets hope that keeps

it mild for her as well . The Grandson is ok and being going to school as normal , which

to me was madness but the authorities said he must go . After a a good chat with her we

are pleased to hear he will not be going tomorrow . He could carry it into school or bring

the infection home . So their household is now back to square  one of isolation .

I haven't seen any of them close up for almost 2 years now , so I feel Harrys pain with his

upcoming family wedding . This covid is far from done with us all yet so be careful guys

    and stay safe :classic_smile::classic_love:

Sorry to hear your daughter has tested positive with Covid, but hope she only has a mild dose. The rules regarding children going to school when someone in the family has tested positive are just plain madness!!

We were booked to go to Warner's Cricket St Thomas next week for my husband's 70th birthday, but we have made the difficult decision to cancel, due to the state of the pandemic in Somerset, our waning immunity (we are just about at the 6 month mark) and the probability that many guests in the hotel won't bother with masks in the entertainment venue. We will get a full refund due to the booking conditions in force when we booked.

We are very disappointed, but it just doesn't seem the right time to go to that location. Still, we'll go out for a few meals locally, so my husband should still enjoy his birthday.

I can understand the disappointment, but as the saying goes better safe than sorry.

I am sure your husband will still have a good birthday.

    Take care

You say you had to wait until they went on general sale. Does that mean we cannot move our deposits to newly released cruises when they go on sale to the top three tiers, on 8th Nov and 22nd Nov? Cos that's what I've been waiting all these weeks and months to try to do.  And from reading posts on here, it seems that other people have been waiting to do that as well.

I don't know. I can only say what happened to me.

  6. Nice to see what everyone has been up to since I was on here yesterday lunchtime.

I spent a very quiet evening at work yesterday, so quiet that we sat and watched Strictly Come Dancing, between checking in a few guests and serving drinks in the bar.  Finished work at 10 pm last night and back in again at 8.30 am this morning, feels as though I didn't go home!  Another quiet day, quite a few check-outs but only three check-ins, so spent some time online looking at cruises. Been looking at some  cruises with MSC in November, undecided, but I'm very tempted though!

  7. Fish and chips here about £8 for a regular portion, a bit more for large. I have no idea what they are in St. Ives, but I expect they are more!!

Have been up to Tesco and quite a few of their shelves are empty.  I couldn't get the wine I usually buy either, so am trying some alternatives! Did get a turkey crown for next week, which was the main reason to go. Everyone seemed to wearing masks too.😀

Just having a bit to eat before I head off to work in a while.

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling down. Good luck with the job hunting.

    Thanks Sue.

Hope your grandchildren enjoy their early birthday presents, Michelle.

Our local chippy skins the fish too. Quite a while since we've had fish and chips, although I have a hard time resisting the batter

Was foggy when I got up, couldn't across to the coastline. Cleared up now and the sun is shining with a temp of 13oC, looks all set for a lovely day.

Going shopping later with my daughter as we are having a family meal next week, so off to Tesco's to make use of my discount! Then off to work this afternoon until late. We are fully booked tonight so not sure if it will be busy or quiet, or a mix of the two. Time tends to drag if the latter.

    Have a good day everyone.

  9. Not been around much, as been feeling low, but have been lurking and reading everyone's posts.

It's been bright and sunny down here all day to today and a pleasant 14oC and has been nice all week.

Had yesterday and today off work, but haven't done anything exciting, just spent them catching up on various chores. At least I've got all the ironing done.

Work finishes in another couple of weeks as the hotel is going to be closed for redevelopment, so have spent some of the time looking for another job and have applied for two, so fingers crossed🤞.

  10. Just having a read through all the posts and catching up after having been at work all day. It was a quiet day at work and the weather has been a real mixture of sunshine, drizzle and heavy rain. We even had a bit of hail and thunder thrown in.

Chilling now with some wine after having cooked dinner, clearing up can wait until tomorrow!!

  11. Am still chilling after a late shift at work, should be in bed as start work again at 8.30 tomorrow morning, but after the telephone conversation with my consultant today I can't switch off! Had a routine MRI scan of my brain in July and results have picked up an area he wants to monitor. I t's been proved I'm not right in the head🤣  He wants to increase my routine scans from one yearly to three monthly. Told not to worry at this stage and not to get concerned. It's easy for him to say, but not so easy to do!
