RCI will be changing to fresh water pools according to a press release I read a few weeks ago. DO not know when this will happen.
ithats a shame i prefer salt water, its good for the feet and skin.

I would say that's a great review based on your experiences and opinions. Sounded pretty fair to me.
no nacho that i saw, and i barely saw the piano player but from the little i heard he was good.
to add, it was hard to get sodas at times and the taste from the bar fountain isnt great. (i would skip the soda package on ncl in future myself)
also the washy washy girls would give a little dirty look if i brought food out of the buffet. but never said anything.

Don't forget the 18% gratuity... makes it $50.50 :eek::eek::eek:
yeah they can stuff it. i dont mind that on land, but at sea i just dont want to think about it. its one of the attractions to cruising.
-
can you link your harrahs total rewards and CAS cards? reason i ask is because their CAS comp was a joke so after a few days and down $1100 i stopped playing.

I couldn't have summed it up any better as I have several cruises on Princess, a few on Carnival, Holland and Celebrity. NCL offers the best mix of food entertainment and the most lax on dresscode, which I enjoy the most. Last thing I want to do on my vacation is dress up
god forbid someone has to throw on a pair of long pants on in 2015. by 2020 people will want to go to dinner and want a fine dinning experience in their boxers. smh
i like the idea the pacific dinning room is more smart casual and up. i only wish they would enforce it a little better to keep the riff raff non dressers out.

i think you should also try Royal. i have a feeling you will like it.
-
do what in the port?
-
i think they will exclude a la carte restaurants from the udp in the future. slowly the cruise experience is changing for the worse and losing its charm.
-
i dont like it, i prefer a set price. seems like another way to make more revenue to me.

i just tried and completed my survey. i do use firefox of that helps anyone.

Good, fair and objective review. Everyone does have his/her own opinion and it is fine to tell it as you see it. In fact it is the best way. I happen to disagree on the buffet lunch, but that is just me. I have no idea about the dinner, I can't imagine eating dinner at the buffet with all the other choices, but we did eat dinner once on HAL and a couple times on Princess ships. On Princess the dinner buffet was awful. I guess that is how you see NCLs.
Again, thanks for a fair review. Enjoy your cruising days.
i am sorry but i can only compare to my recent royal and celebrity cruises so to me the lunch buffet was lacking wirh choices and variety. but thats just my opinion and compared to my experience. i would eat a light 5:30 buffet sometimes before a show then late real dinner in dinning room.

We purchased it for our 11day and yeah we got our value, 7 dinners at Cagney's but we sure did miss the buffet and didn't get to try O'Sheehans, next time it's pay as we go.
trust me you didnt miss much.
-
i wouldnt buy it , but if it was part of the package id pick it. i thought the main dinning room was very good.

i am a straght shooter i dont sugar coat things just fyi on how i review and rate . i feel it does no favors to others looking for a honest review.
start with
Staff-- very good. no one stood out to me on over the top service but everyone was friendly and polite, cabin steward was very good. -it was better than my expereince on celebrity summit. slightly below or on par with Royal imo.
shows- magic show and acrobats very good.
cruise director dan dan also good.
buffet- not so great , breakfast was good enough, lunch and dinners was the lowest grade i would give as far as my recent experiences on royal and celerity.
Pacific dinning- i like dressing up a little for dinner and although there were a few crying babies and a young woman in a beach coverup and sandals and her brother in shorts and flip flops ( minor blips) i thought the main dinning food exceeded my expectations i only went to 1 specialty restaurant (Italian) which was good but lacked service.
ship- was clean and nice, i thought there should be a separate adult pool area it was very close to the kids and they jumped in and out with little to no policing. i was prepared for a lot of kids this trip so i was ok , it could have been much worse.
rooms- good but on the small side , not enough drawers for clothes ,bathroom was good , shower was great imo.
tons of kids running and stumping in halls, made the quietest rooms noisy. again no policing of that even late night. i had to time my sleep around this unfortunately only 2-7am you could get solid sleep. again i knew the deal being summer and all.
overall i liked it , however it did feel like more and more sales pitches. I did enjoy it much more than the Celebrity but maybe Royal is the right line for me. i will be going on the navigator of the seas end of oct so i will know for sure by the end of the summer i guess.
-
i tell you i wagered quite a bit and only got 348 points, which i was told is $3 in comps , i lost $1100 so i said to get $10 i would have to lose $10000, the host said that is correct sir. lol i wont be gambling ever on ncl again.

thanks for the review. i will say i dont really recommend celebrity, at least not the summit from ny. the ship was lovely but the staff was not very friendly and seemed short staffed and over worked. dinning felt rushed and front desk was mostly rude. shame as the ship itself was very nice. oh and another thing the rooms near the theater are so loud with practice rehearsals and shows you cant realx in your cabin for a nap at all if near it.
-
We will be on the Gem this 4th of July also. I hope my son (14) enjoy the teen programs. He don't like them on Carnival.
i will be on this ship with my 14 year old son also. i think the kids will have a blast on this cruise
-
thanks i understand i can call , but when your booking online in year 2015 one would think the website basics would work. smh.
-
not sure if everyone is experience this but while trying to book a royal cruise for myself and dad ,my number shows as i havent enrolled yet. i click add anchor number and it goes to change rooms. any help thanks?
-
i prefer to take away the charge per day at the front desk and tip out cash in envelopes and willy nilly to other staff, though with open dining i may just leave it this time around.
-
nice tip , if anyone had an around the clock food option list for this ship that would be wonderful. also are there stil two formal nights in the /MDR?
-
If you are a party of 4 or less, reservations will never be required or needed, just arrive and you will be seated as soon as is possible.
Larger parties might want to arrange for reservations.
With the newish NCL Next menus, the main dining rooms all share the same menu.
much appreciated thank you , will be a party of 2 only.
-
Is it that you just walk in and wait to be seated or is it best to make reservations? also is the menu the same in both main dining rooms? thanks all
-
You will be happy, if you haven't seen it, they have reversed the "no food from the restaurants or buffet" rule.
this is good
