  1. Past threads would be a good starting point, plus the usual local Tourist Information Offices for each, Tripadvisor, YouTube and others which appear when you google eg " (name of port) tourist Information" Past threads to get you started Isafjordur https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=isafjordur&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=2705 Akureyri https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=akureyri&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=2705 Djupivogur https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=Djupivogur&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=2705
  2. I just now had a quick look at review dates only and the most recent is dated October 2023. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g189430-d12626310-Reviews-SantAnna-Mykonos_Cyclades_South_Aegean.html Overall they appear to be somewhat mixed to say the least so definitely worth reading a few of them to help you decide.
  3. You would probably enjoy whichever one you eventually choose whichever way you make your choice.😀
  4. Docking is so convenient and the ride into Rostock so easy, that you could sightsee in Rostock in the morning and spend the afternoon in Warnemunde or the opposite way around. You will see references to CC mmbers doing exactly this in some of the previous threads. You could lunch in Rostock, Warnemunde or onboard. Previous Rostock threads. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=rostock&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=116
  5. How very strange as mine connected without any issue less than 5 minutes ago. It is also the link to the OFFICIAL Schipol Airport website where I found it, so I expect Schipol Airport management are aware of this oddity and will be investigating, as it covers all transport options between the airport and the cruise terminal and vice versa. Maybe try again in a few days time by which time the issue may have been resolved. or try accessing it from a different device as that may work for you .As mentioned above, this early in the season there will be minimal activity with ocean going ships, so far fewer passengers heading from the cruise terminal to the airport therefore fewer taxis waiting.. You could consider cross posting on the river cruising forum as the season for river boats can be longer and you might have more luck there.
  6. The shorex pax who are usually first to tender off are normally on tours which are starting within an hour or so of arrival. I have never known pax with an afternoon tour being given priority for morning tenders. Why would they if there is no urgent need for them to be off quickly? Having said that, once you are tendered in to Kotor, you are right in the centre of everything so no time is wasted and you can begin exploring almost immediately, and if you intend to hike up to the Fortress, that hike is EXTREMELY steep and best tackled earlier in the day before it gets too hot. Kotor is tiny and super pretty, perfect for strolling, shopping, dining. And be up on deck early for the beautiful sail-in which is not to be missed as it is one of the most scenic anywhere. You might want to cross post on the RCL forum and ask what their usual routine is for tenders as I do not know how they manage it. If it is by numbered ticket and they are issued the day or evening before, (ask) be sure to get in line early for the best chance of a low/early number. Some previous threads for Kotor, some of which you could read for info https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=kotor&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=149
  7. An interesting heritage combo, only lacking some Irish heritage for the full set!😁. Thanks for your complementary words about Edinburgh. It is always lovely to read that some folks return for further visits as a single port day barely scratches the sightseeing options, and of course there are many other lovely places to visit in Scotland, including Orkney.
  8. if this helps, in Warnemunde ships usually dock right next to the train station, and to access the town you only need walk through the small station, cross the bridge and you are there. Trains to Rostock are quite frequent and as Warnemunde is a suburb, the journey is, I think I remember, under 30 minutes or so.
  9. Mykonos beach clubs will be seasonal, and this being only March they may not even be open this early in the year. I expect the reviews you were reading dated from last year, but they may be the only ones you can find at this time.
  10. Only a few minutes walk from the terminal on the opposite side of the main road. I think I remember free entry and open 24/7
  11. Should you get few or no replies, consider looking at online reviews as your questions may be answered there. EG Tripadvisor will have both images and reviews but there may also be others in the results when you google "Santanna Beach Club Mykonos reviews".
  12. As your question is very specific to a Celebrity shorex, might be an idea to cross post this on the Celebrity Forum where any passengers who took this shorex would be more likely to see it and respond. You could also try YouTube as everything and anything can be found there nowadays and someone may have uploaded a short video.
  13. The CC member who posted that information had obtained it in response to an e-mail enquiry sent to the local Tourist Information Office so you might want to try that.😀
  14. In case it might help you decide, Berlin is a "headline" port as I assume the actual port is Warnemunde and Berlin is approx 3 hours each way from there , meaning most of your day will be taken up transferring. A very long day for a few short hours in this huge city. It is similar to "Paris" from le Havre, another "headline" port approx 3 hours each way from le Havre. only you can decide if the long journeys are worth the effort. Warnemunde is a pretty seaside resort, actually a suburb of Rostock, so very easy to combine both for a very pleasant and easy day, or there are other options. Many past threads re Warnemunde and it might help if you read some of them. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=warnemunde&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=116
  15. How are you on stairs? I ask because you mentioned a possible "underground" tour and although there are several, they all involve stairs as they are below street level. And the underground tours are dimly lit. Mary King's Close is one of the better ones and you should read their accessibility information to help you decide whether an underground tour would be suitable for you.
  16. There was a similar debate (actually more than one thread) last year when NCL (and only NCL) passengers were taxed on drinks in some European countries. It was a VAT charge. A quick google found this one but there were others over a period of a few months. https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2963144-10-vat-tax-added-to-all-free-at-sea-drinks-on-ncl-while-in-med/ There was also a higher VAT charge on any items bought in the onboard stores. Searching CC or googling should find some of these threads and/or media reports. A quick search on the NCL board found these, some of which may be applicable https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=tax on alcoholic drinks&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=64&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=and
  17. Can I suggest that before planning the Midhope visit, you have a look at the reviews and images of it on Tripadvisor as there really is not a great deal to see there, but reading reviews and looking at the images will help you decide if it would be worth it to you. There are a small number of Outlander filming locations in the city itself and a quick google should find them. Bakehouse Close (featured in several scenes but worth visiting in its own right)and Tweeddale Court are near each other on the Royal Mile, but there is also Craigmillar Castle within the city but not central and again uphill. You would need a taxi for this one.
  18. Nice to read that. There is of course much more to the city outside of the Old Town and more than enough for several days. Unfortunately cruise port calls rarely offer enough time to "see it all", but they do give ideas as to which places might merit a return land trip and you could consider Edinburgh maybe combined with places such as York, Bath and others, also with the option of visiting further north to the Scottish Highlands or islands. We only ever cruised smaller ships, in part due to long tender waits on the bigger ships and reading what you wrote, so pleased we did that.
  19. Pre-booking timed entry tickets on the castle website does the same thing without paying the extra for the shorex. Pleased to read that you appear to have enjoyed your day in the city, might you perhaps return in the future for a few extra days which would allow you to fill in the gaps?
  20. In that case, my apologies as it seems important to you. An "oops" moment probably as tired and heading to .zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  21. I thought I quoted the OP, Anyislandwill do,( lines 1,2 and 3 of post #1) Whom did I mistakenly quote?
  22. In that case, and as Edinburgh is hilly, you would need to plan your visit carefully to take account of your abilities.
  23. Sorry, no buses or trams go to the castle so only a taxi would take you close to but not onto the castle esplanade. You could take the bus for its full run and take a taxi from the x99 terminus in the city centre.
  24. Flying TO Europe, your luggage is normally checked all the way through to your destination airport if using one carrier for the entire journey (and this applies to code share airlines too, eg airlines such as Air France, KLM and others in the same alliance where one sector is with one of them and the second or third with a different one) Your luggage will normally have a different(speedy) tag if the connection is fairly short. This means it is often amongst the last to be loaded at departure airport and should be amongst first off at the connecting airport ready for transfer to the next flight. Simpler yes, but slightly stressful too in case one arrives at destination and one does not. As many of our flights involve connections we usually cross pack, each having half clothing in each suitcase just in case. It is simpler than the US way of claiming, rechecking in etc.
  25. or to both from e130. thanks for adding the info as others may find it ueful in the future. I assume these are transfers only with no information given by the driver? Did you have enough time to view the rare Mycenaen suit of armour in the museum?
