I know this question has a lot of variables, but i wanted to get others thoughts that have gotten upgraded in the past on our chances... We have a S5 forward suite, but are bidding on a owners and Penthouse aft balcony suites.  Max bid on both.  However, the cruise is showing sold out.  April 20th on the enchanted.  I know people cancel, but has anyone been in a similar situation and if so, were there any upgrades?

We like our current cabin, but we prefer one of the aft cabins with the large balconies.  Our current cabin has a small balcony so we would most like opt for a cabana which means we have to get on early and make the mad dash to the sanctuary  We would rather get on the ship later in the morning or early afternoon and not have to deal with that.

    Thx

We also bid the max for an Aft Penthouse and Owners Suite on Enchanted.  1 day to go and we’re not hearing anything one way or the other.  Don’t think it’ll happen. 🙁

“Pro” tip: as I’ve already been onboard, I’m not having one of the pre-trayed beverages. I asked for the menu and this is what I got:

    salted caramel expresso martini!!

Ask them to make you a Key Lime Pie martini!  Both Lucky and Ekta know how to make them!  Delicious!! Tell them Barb and Kevin say Hi!

  3. We’re also on this cruise.  We were also on the 7 day before that and luckily you missed the film crew who was disrupting venues everywhere in the YC for 4 days to shoot a commercial.  They closed off the pool and hot tubs at various times as well as the top sail lounge several times.  They even were shooting over my head at one point in the lounge to get their shot of the actors!  We did complain as well as many other guests we spoke to.

They ran out supplies about 6 days in including Tito’s, Kahlua, Diet Coke, Pepsi Zero and limes.  Nothing was refurbished until we got back on 12/3.  So far it’s been an uneventful 4 day cruise since everything is back and hopefully it’ll stay that way until we get off on Thursday.

As to the Terminal, I agree it’s totally messed up.  We waited about 40 minutes to board the first time and took close to 1.5 hours to go through the B2B process on Sunday.

I forgot to mention- yesterday I asked for a glass of chocolate milk.  My family understands that I am a big kid that loves the stuff, and I had a craving. I had run back to the room, so my wife tried to order it for me.  For the first attempt, I got a glass of hot chocolate with some ice cubes in it.  This was a bit odd, but ok.  For the second attempt, I went up to the bar to explain how to make it.  Turned out pretty good actually!  It’s nice having access to the full bar, because I got to add Bailey’s to it.  That was pretty awesome.

When we were on Seascape, I asked our butler for two small glasses of Bailey's each night so I could add ice to it before going to bed as a nightcap for DH and I.  The next evening we got a whole bottle!  Nice touch!

  5. I also got an email.  They changed my Oct 20th cruise.  Grand Cayman has been replaced with Nassau and now a 6PM Departure time from Fort Lauderdale.  Not an issue for me, just glad to be cruising!

  6. I've done this cruise from both San Francisco (Grand Princess) and LA (Star Princess).  We are also doing it again out of LA in 2023 on the Crown. We've been on the Crown before and we liked the layout of the ship although it doesn't have a covered pool (but no need once you get into warmer weather).  We loved Sabatini's and the nice small bar right off their dining room.

We always stayed at the Doubletree when in LA, very nice staff and rooms.  Plus, you can get to watch the ship come in that morning of the sailing if you have a room facing the harbor.

    Loved those sea days!!

I can name that tune in 13 days!!  (but who's counting?).

Formal nights is an easy one, but depends on which way the itinerary runs.  Ours has one sea day at the beginning and two at the end (I think same itinerary as Colo is on).  Our formals will be the first sea day after Princess Cay and the second last sea day.

In your case, it will be the first sea day after leaving FL.  And then should be the evening you leave St Thomas because it is an early 4pm departure and it won't be your last night of the voyage even though at sea.

Thank you for the clarification!  I was working on which nights (other than formal) to do Crown Grill & Sabatini's.

  8. Thanks for taking the time to do this review.  It's very helpful since I'll be on her in 23 days (but who's counting! )

Who's currently the piano entertainer at Crooners as well as the band that usually plays in the Explorer's Lounge?

Also, which nights were the formal nights?

    Thank you in advance!

  9. Thank you for your review!  We’re in a WS on the Grand in about 3 weeks.  Just curious, did you get escorted on the ship as I’ve been reading prior to Drydock?  Use the laundry perk?  Looking so forward to trying out the “Suite Life” for the first time!
