  1. The ship instructed us to bring our ID (drivers license or passport) and original vax card when getting off in Nassau. No health visa and no Covid test results. YMMV with the fluidity of the protocols.
  2. Protocals are fluid, so what you read on Celebrity's website may not be the most up to date. Yesterday we could get off in Nassau and explore on our own.
  3. We arrived at the terminal rather early and managed to board before the embarkation glitch. Sorry you had to wait to get on board. As the lovely Anastasia escorted Tim and I up the ramp to the ship at 11:30 she informed us that we would be the first guests to board the ship today. This was the first of many exciting moments on this first day. The crew is awesome. Lunch and dinner in Luminae blew us away. The staff there is so fun and enjoyable. Kelly thank you for starting this thread. It was great to meet you and your father today at the sailaway gathering. Love both of your cruising spirits. So many friends made today thanks to Cruise Critic.🥰
  4. @Jim_IainThanks for the reminder about the children's menu. A grilled cheese sandwich sounds simply supreme. I could not tell you when I last had one.
  5. Hey Jim, I am so excited to follow another journey x2 that you and Iain are taking. It was good to read how comfortable you felt returning to cruising on your last voyages. So much so that you added these last minute bookings. If you stay in Aqua Class I will look forward to seeing the Blu menus and presentations. I am curious to see if you make as many of your choices off the main dining room menu as much as you did in Luminae. I have always found the food great in all of the venues on board, but a few of those on the Luminae menus sound just plain unappealing. I always find it comforting to know I can fall back on my old standby French onion soup every single night if I choose to. Looking forward to all of your wonderful photos. Loving the comparisons you have made so far also. Bon voyage to you both. Paul
  6. Trikes Aruba | Tours and Adventure – The best way to see Aruba (trikes-aruba.com) I can report back to you on how it was later this month.
  7. @Jim_IainHi Jim, Could you please answer a question for me? How was the air temperature in Luminae and The Retreat Lounge? I usually wear a t-shirt under my button-downs. I am wondering if I should pack more short sleeve or long sleeve. If it is chilly around the ship, I would tend to wear long sleeves in the evenings. Thanks, Paul
  8. Have a great time in NYC. Looking forward to your report.
  9. I had to power off my iphone and restart before the vaccination tab would show up in the check-in part of the app. The purple check-in button is at the bottom of the screen. Click it and "Vaccination" appears as a new tab between "Arrival time" and "Health & safety." Click the right arrow. After you snap the photos the vaccination section will be checked off. Scroll down and do the other passenger(s) on your booking. When you go back in the vaccination tab the photos of the vax cards will no longer appear. Hope these details help. Thanks to poster above who suggested rebooting the phone. Not sure I would have even known about this if I did not read Cruise Critic.
  10. Hi everyone! Can anyone currently on board (or anyone else) provide any intel on how many passengers are booked for the very next Equinox sailing (October 8th 9-nt ABC) if you may have heard any reports from any of the crew? TIA Paul
  11. Jim, Thank you for taking us all along on your journey. It has been a GREAT read. All 90+ pages of it. Fortunately I was reading along from the start. So much great info and positivity on this thread. Looking forward to boarding Celebrity Equinox very soon. Yay! Paul
  12. I am not certain if they play movies constantly, but jelayne’s comments ring true with what I experienced in aft facing A1 on deck 11 on Infinity in November 2016. I personally would not book it again. However, I have booked a Sunset Verandah on deck 7 on Constellation in 2022 hoping it will be far enough from the movie.
  13. When a saw the title of this thread the first couple of times I kept scrolling, but I am glad I finally clicked on it this morning. I spent the last few minutes getting caught up on such a pleasant, enlightening thread. Thanks everyone for all of the great tips. So did you end going on the cruise and how was the suite experience for you?
  14. That seems like a nice price for an upgrade to SS on Apex. I am so excited for your parents. I have been contemplating a booking on an E-class ship to give them a try before bookings pick up steam again, but not a fan of the IV concept, so may spring for a Sky Suite again. I have only been in a Sky Suite once (on Silhouette) in 2016, so my first-hand knowledge is a bit dated. I can say we really enjoyed the experience. We loved Luminae. Michael's Club (now called The Retreat Lounge) was never crowded during the times we visited. We loved the quiet respite from the Martini Bar, no long waits for drinks, and the personalized service the bartender provided. I recall her bringing snacks or hors d'oeuvres of some sort to the table. It is also a great place to grab a beverage to go from the refrigerated coolers. I forget if this was self-service or if the bartender had to grab them for you. But it is a whole new set-up on Apex. I like the idea of The Retreat Sundeck as an added option which I have read is pretty swanky on E-class. Bon voyage to your folks. And not long now for some of the rest of us.
  15. Generally speaking I would try for deck 7 or 8 midships or forward (if you are not bothered by the motion that might be experienced in a forward stateroom.) These decks each have one lonesome interior stateroom at the far aft of the ship which I would not rule out either as I am not bothered by a few extra steps to the elevators/stairways and I don't mind the ocean motion. These decks are just two or three flights down from the pools and oceanview cafe and just two or three flights up from the other dining venues and lounges.
  16. Possibly not even a thousand passengers on board the current journey.
  17. Was the double Captains Club points offer extended as well?
  18. Another of many joyful moments you are treasuring on this journey I am sure.
  19. Um, so hearing those muster drill horns just literally gave me chills or butterflies or something emotionally overwhelming. Now I truly feel like I am living vicariously through you. The time before my own return to cruising can’t come soon enough now. Might have to watch this video a few more times just for kicks and grins. Looking forward to reading what was for dinner tonight. Cheers gentlemen. Oh, do either of you play? If not maybe your retreat host can find someone to tickle the ivories.
  20. Wow! That was a nail-biter. I am glad you made your flight and I can't wait to read what happens next. Hope you have a restful evening and a fantastic cruise.
  21. @Jim_IainHow was that blue cheese soufflé that you ordered last night?
  22. Another Move Up question...Sorry to jump on OP's thread. But I'll just drop it here and see if anybody can chime in. If my Move Up bid is accepted do I understand correctly that I will only receive Captain's Club points equivalent to what would be earned on my originally booked stateroom category?
