I can entertain myself at home! I’m on a cruise for ports and entertainment on the ship!
-
They are high price but I make them part of my trip! One of my favorite restaurants! Near Long Wharf Marriott. Also Fanieul Hall almost across the street. BOSTON - A WATERFRONT LEGEND ON LONG WHARF The pride of Long Wharf, Chart House Boston is renowned for its location and its menu. As Long Wharf's oldest surviving structure, formerly the John Hancock Counting House, the seafood restaurant is a fusion of history and modern style. The newly renovated interior is full of bold colors, a hopping happy hour and the kind of creative seafood dishes that draw a crowd. With an area so full of legendary locales, there's plenty to see and do just a short distance away. Stop by Chart House Boston after a day of boating and shopping around Long Wharf, or enjoy a delicious lunch before an outing to Downtown Boston, Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park and more. See the tall ships that visit our waters or watch the enormous 4th of July celebration on the harbor each year. To get a taste of a true seafood legend and the best Prime Rib Boston has to offer, visit Chart House on Long Wharf! 60 Long Wharf, Boston, MA 02110 (617) 227-1576 SUN: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM MON - THU: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM FRI - SAT: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM Happy Hour: Monday - Friday 4:30PM - 6:30PM

If you are able to cancel and rebook I would recommend another area of the city. Marriott Long Wharf and Boston Park Plaza are both much better locations to easily get out and see Boston. I’m a local and these are my two choices when I stay in Boston. You can easily get a taxi to take you to the port.

Many new cruisers on my cruises. Many have been on the circus type ships. They take their children on ships with 2,000 children. Their children didn’t get to do most activities because too many children! They came to HAL for a classic cruise like they went on as children! Years ago many families cruised with no children’s clubs or circus activities such as slides, climbing walls and go karts. Those giant ships are bringing more people to HAL and Oceania.

My last two HAL in June and July were wonderful! Many younger families with children! Much improved music! Eurodam Rolling Stone Lounge best band I’ve heard in a long time. Packed every night. The dueling piano entertainers excellent Volendam great solo piano bar entertainer. Ocean bar band and singers excellent! Food on both excellent! it was great seeing the families enjoy everything together. The children danced the night away with their parents! Both pools were packed with people having a great time I'm not much of a drinker but they had amazing cocktails! The food was excellent! I love all the changes!

I had an inside on top deck my favorite! Eurodam. First offer was to go to obstructed ocean view. No thanks. A week later an offer for an ocean view. No thank you! Then it came! A week before sailing! Aft balcony for $150/pp. so for $300 I went from inside to aft balcony. Best cabin ever! Best cruise to Alaska! I loved Rolling Stones Lounge!

Choosing a later embarkation due to no mariner’s lunch?
Wasasalad replied to Homala's topic in Holland America Line
For some reason the security people are often airport people and try to do it the airport way. It’s somehow the same security company or the people work for both companies. -

I’ve been out of Boston Flynn Pier twice this year and no one checked for what was in our water containers. Yes plastic bottles not allowed. Boston for some reason gets security people not familiar with the pier security. They are airport people. Try to do it the airport way. Just hope that we have the regular pier security staff when we return to Boston. OMG a while ago the airport security people were there as we were getting off the ship. At 8:30 am they finally realized there was a major roadblock getting off the ship. Someone in charge intervened and told security this is a cruise port and not the airport. All the security personnel stepped aside and we were free to leave as usual. -

I’ve never heard of that to board a ship. That is only for airline. June and July I had no issues. I had the usual toiletries and only do carry on with all my luggage. No issues last year either. -

Boston dock workers are why we must board earlier than some ports. Even when we were sailing at 7pm we had to be on quite early. But they are good about delayed check in because of delays flights and weather. During a Hurricane we were boarding until 8pm! No power in most of the area. I had no power in my house. Two hour limousine ride after walking over downed trees on my street. They told us fifty canceled last minute. With HAL Platinum you can do that. They offered to upgrade many of us but at full price! No way! We left Boston at midnight. -

Oceania has lovely solo cabins that are obstructed oceanview on a great deck. I find the prices are a good value. Great itineraries. Check them out -
People just seem to get up and dance wherever music is playing!

So glad to hear that! Beautiful ship!

Very nice! Thank you!

The definitely have XXL size robes. I never use the robe but on one cruise my cabin steward saw that I was plus size and brought me one! I’m low maintenance for the most part. Seldom request much except pillow menu. I just always ask for a pillow menu to find a softness and size pillow that I like.

The one that takes you to the shopping area, restaurant and beach is free.

I do not recommend the RockyMountaineer train unless you can fall asleep in the lazy boy type seating and sleep all day! It was like being totally confined and I was in the Gold with a separate dining and bar area. I spent most of my days on the little platform between the cars! All you see are beautiful amazing places that should not be missed. On the train with no stops! Beautiful trip for a motor home or car travel! Yes it is mountainous but big wide open roads. Much bigger roads than the U.S. Rockies. Giant roads compared to New England Mountains! We were on the train by 5:00am! Left the hotel at 4:00am. Arrived in the evening hotel at 11:30pm to midnight. And repeat! Missed all of our evening hotel dinners! If you can’t drive it’s an ok alternative just to see the area.

I have to wait until June!
