  1. Because it is a legitimately excellent change whereas many of the loyalty perks over the years have been watered down.
  2. No offense, but this won't actually net you anything other than frustration on your end as well as on the guest services end. The guest services agents don't control RCCL booking or corporate. They handle whatever is onboard. If you're booked through a travel agent they should be taking care of all the administrative issues, FCC, etc.
  3. Don't eat dinner in the WJ, so I'm not fussed about that.
  4. Yes. I wouldn't think of it in terms of total though. You get 4 per day. This is a new-ish development. People say its because of cost cutting, but RCCL says its because of crowding in the Diamond Lounge. Personally, I'm a fan of the new system of 4 per day with a $13 limit. Any time per day with the new system Correct, which is why I don't recommend you think in terms of total drinks for the vacation. If you only use 2 on Monday, you don't get 6 for Tuesday.
  5. Ours popped up for 10/17 as well... Its just on the website
  6. I've done them now twice during the winter. Yes... its frigid the first day or two. Embarkation day for our Quantum cruise was one of the coldest days on record for the past decade. That said, there is plenty to do inside during the first day or two. Also... the outdoor hot tubs feel amazing when its freezing outside 😉
  7. As an FYI (haven't read future posts to see if someone mentioned already) but Apple includes a document scanner in their "Notes" app. See link to directions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210336
  8. Bird your reviews have always been excellent, and this was no exception. I think I speak for everyone on these boards... thank you for taking us along on what is only the beginning of a new age of cruising.
  9. This is my biggest problem with Royal's choice. I don't trust that they'll actually be able to keep the numbers to 5% unvaccinated and how they ensure those people wear masks. It will be interesting to see how the story develops.
  10. The non-vaccinated ones are the short ones running around the ship, hitting all the elevator buttons, and bothering their parents.
  11. HA! They should just cover that up with a "Go to www.royalcaribbean.com for more information on our wonderful cruise options including BOGO!!"
  12. This is what I'm expecting. All pax required to check-in online prior to arriving so that they won't be asked for vaccine confirmation at the port.
  13. Exactly this for me and my fiancee... Really excited for this change for our October Oasis cruise. 4 free drinks each per day? Sign me up... Normally we just drink 1-2 during HH inside the DL or occasionally at another bar. ooo I didn't even think of that... If so, that's a gamechanger.
  14. The biggest issue is that traveling with unvaccinated passengers creates a ton of risk for the cruise companies... for multiple reasons The Caribbean does not have great access to the vaccines and its unpredictable how transmission between locals and cruise-goers will be. The CDC guidelines seem pretty difficult to enforce. How do you know who is and isn't vaccinated on the ship? What areas are off limits to unvaccinated? How do you separate vaccinated and unvaccinated for meals? Seems arbitrary and likely easily abused. If there is a viral spread on-board (even with testing its still possible a person is in the incubation period when tested) it would KILL the cruise industry. The Diamond Princess alone almost killed the industry. I just don't see why for the short-term Royal doesn't just require them to keep themselves safe (as a corporation). Seems like they're putting a very unnecessary risk on the return to sailing.
  15. Yes Getaway has Teppanyaki. I'm not sure about dining more than once with the package.
  16. 🙄 because of several things: 1. You can still carry the virus with the vaccine. You may not get seriously ill, but you can still pass it on 2. They're concerned about other people because they're human beings with empathy 3. They're concerned about the future of the cruise industry. As cruises start back up there will be a ton of eyes on it. Will NCL/RCL/CCL/X/Disney etc be able to avoid mass infections and avoid quarantines at sea? The first large scale infection spread on a cruise ship will cripple the industry for years, if not permanently from the United States (if not around the world).
  17. I dined solo several times. Teppanyaki was a blast. Always get seated with 2-3 other groups who were surprised that a 20-something was cruising solo and were very welcoming.
  18. I'm not sure where you're located, but in MA those people were turned away and told there were accomodations made for them (curbside pickup + online ordering, phone orders and items brought out).
  19. And all the company has to say is "no mask, no service." The company is not in any violation. They're not asking about a specific or even abstract disability, just stating that you need a mask to enter regardless of religion, disability, etc. Most stores (if not all) in my area made significant efforts to ensure that anyone choosing not to wear a mask for any reason had the ability to get what they desired from the stores/businesses. Basically all big box stores all added curbside pickup, many restaurants had signs posted on the door with QR codes to scan for outside pickup, etc.
  20. They're certainly trying right now. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Seemingly right now Royal Caribbean and NCL are both planning for vaccinated cruises and aiming to sail from Florida. What civil liberty am I giving up? I want to cruise and I'm more than happy to disclose my vaccination status. I'm not being forced to do anything. What am I supposed to be waking up to? I've very plainly ignored the rest of your post because, frankly it's not worth trying to engage that. Yes, thats the point.... The pandemic occurred and there was no vaccine which meant this was extremely transmissible and deadly. What happened when the vaccine started being widely adapted? Deaths decreased. The Covid outbreak can be significantly weakened by an increased acceptance of the vaccine. Honestly it just seems like you want to stare at the sky and yell at the clouds right now, so enjoy your day and I'll go enjoy mine.
