  1. We are debating whether to take the Cairo overnight package on our upcoming Regent cruise. Given the cost, we are unsure its a good value for us given our interests. I have been to Cairo once before and don't feel I need to see it again. More important, my sense is my wife will find a one day tour adequate. Lastly, since we aren't 'night time party folks', I'm not sure the opportunity to be in Cairo at night means much for us. Are we missing something? Would welcome comments.

I'm sure that trip will be fantastic specially with dinner in front of Pyramids or facing the River Nile

  2. Viking & Uniworld offer Nile river cruises, I don't think they offer cruises to Egypt, which does seem to have been abandoned by sea-going cruise ships, even Brit & Italian ships which had continued with Egyptian itineraries long after others had switched away.

The Nile cruises are concentrated on Luxor & up-river, an area generally not affected by political turbulence & very welcoming to visitors.

My O/H took a Nile cruise (not her first Nile cruise) last year with her sis-in-law, very enjoyable for both of them.

But one-day stops on Med or Red Sea cruises are enough for me, ancient sights & sunbathing aren't my thing & I couldn't hack a week of that ;)

    JB :)

    Thanks John Bull

  3. Maro, when are you going? We're on the October 17th sailing. There's also a roll-call thread for all sailings, without much content yet, but if you're interested in sharing questions and ideas, here it is:
