  1. Beef Wellington was on the menu one night on the Magic in June. I think it was the 2nd Elegant Night.
  2. We dont have vouchers now Everything is on our S/S cards. They used to be in our cabins when we first boarded. You need 75 days to be Platinum. 200 days to be Diamond. Gold and D/P use to go to the party. The invite would be placed in our cabins the night before by our cabin steward. For the TA from Barcelona in Nov 2013 on the Sunshine there were 200 Diamonds, 700 Platinums and 1,200 Golds. (Those numbers were unusually high back then) They had 4 parties the day of the party. 1pm, 2pm, 3pm 4pm with no break between and no clearing out of the previous passengers. So quite a few went at 1pm and just stayed on till the end of the last one about 5pm They had a great time. In those days we had wonderful appetizers and got to order whichever drink we wanted all we could drink. Not long after that Carnival dropped the Gold from the party. As a Platinum I argued with Carnival that the Gold should be grandfathered in. Those who were already Gold had been to the parties and now they were cut off. Unfortunately, that never happened. The Gold were no longer part of the Elite parties.
  3. I know NCL does that but when did Carnival start giving veterans a party with booze ? They didnt on the Magic in June.
  4. We used to have to surrender our invitation like a ticket before we entered to someone at the door. That controlled most of that problem.
  5. Its the same as the old vouchers The drink can be more than $12.50 You just pay the difference.
  6. Look at the top right corner of the cruise account inside the new "Cruise Confirmation" email you received. All your promotion codes will be there LATDBX or TRIPLE will be listed if you still have it. The TRIPLE ended on May 31st. Any changes after that, price drop or upgrade, probably affected that goodie. Take FCC if you can. That wont lose you the extra points.
  7. Wait until theyre at least 8 and 10.
  8. Im surprised the Carnival ship wasnt busy. It used to be the first night. They used to give a free bottle of wine the first night. Of course, the price has gone up from $35 to $48 so that might be one reason.
  9. Before Jamie started these, we used to meet in the library bar at 10 the first sea day. The meeting would be listed in the daily that morning but usually only a handful of veterans would read it and turn up. That last time during the Sunshine TA cruise there were 3 veterans and 2 wives. That would have been about Nov 2. We never had to meet in the library bar after that due to Jamie's endeavors. She was on the Sunshine for years. She told me once that she would retire when she managed to have the event held on every Carnival ship.
  10. If you have spent money on board for drinks, the special restaurants, the shops, shore excursions etc, up to $500 will be refunded to you. Or it can be used for future cruises, usually one certificate of $250 for each cruise. (At present you can use two certificates regardless of the cabin type) I always take the FFC route.
  11. Ten years ago during the TA for the Sunshine, veterans asked the Cruise Director Jamie if they could have a special event for Veterans Day. She agreed and designed that first Military Appreciation for the day, November 11, 2013, and went on to spread the same gathering throughout all the Carnival ships. It took her years due to the resistance for the cruise line higher ups. Finally, all the ships were included. What Jamie started has endured. unchanged, and is wonderful. There has also been a special Tea Time for veterans with well labeled tables but some ships dont participate unless they are reminded. (Magic for one.) Last year for Veterans Day NCL announced that starting on January 1, 2023, they would give veterans 10% off the price of every cruise and also the other promotions too. Veterans at NCL had designed a wonderful program for veterans which included a party (free booze) with the captain of the ship and other officers. Veterans left Carnival and RC etc and moved over to NCL. They have been welcomed and treated very well. I know, I'm one of those veterans. Now the higher ups at Carnival thinks they are forced to enlarge on the attractions for veterans to plug the hole. One way they could immediately help themselves is require much lower deposits for their infrequent military specials. Also it's nice to have a 'Heroes" bar but Carnival benefits from the money those Heroes spend to drink there. Why not a lower price for drinks for those who can show their military ID, VA card etc or who used the military promotion to book the cruise? When I first read of the Heroes lounge, I thought that there would be free or inexpensive drinks but no, it's just another way for Carnival to enlarge their coffers.
  12. You didnt have to book on board to get the Triple promotion. The Triple promotion (3 extra points) finished on May 31st. Always ask about the extras you have every time you are going to make a change to your booking. Right now some cruises have the Double again though. (2 extra points)
  13. Just bring a 110 plug that will fit on the end of your USB
  14. The Boston and Cambridge mentioned could be areas of Halifax.
  15. NCL is different from Carnival. With Carnival without an alcohol package you can bring wine and spirits on board at every UE port without a corkage fee. NCL only allows wine or champagne and charges $15 for .75 litre and $30 for 1.5 litres or free if you have the package. In the UDE
  16. The inside cabins yes but not the studios.
  17. The Jewell has 7-day cruises on Sept 11th from Seward, 18th from Vancouver and the 25th from Seward back to Vancouver. Then she goes to Asia.
  18. This is often done. Weve done it for Newark going out of NYC in case of bad weather etc We always make sure the hotel has a free airport shuttle.
  19. Delta was 50lb (23kg) for international in May
  20. If you mean for flying its 50lb. Also I think its 26 inches. Leave some room in your suitcase though for purchases. You do know that dirty clothes weigh more than clean? And they certainly take up more room.
  21. When we did the 4 days they already had those events planned for the next 5 days. We did get our Latitude dinners though.
  22. We did a 4 day Barcelona to Civitavecchia on the Epic in May The whole cruise was 9 days back to Barcelona. We were already on the ship after the TA. Disembarking in Civitavecchia was no different than a normal one except we were some of the few who had luggage with us. We just got off with everyone else.
  23. I was listing the restaurants where we had personally received the free bottle of wine. All within the last 3 months. I'm sure there are others.
