  1. It's excellent! Another option is the beach in front of the hotel right next to the tender pier. However, the snorkeling there is no where near as good as Kahalu'u.
  2. Aloha Gracelyn, I think Kahalu'u Beach Park will be your best bet. It has accessible parking and the parking lot itself is right next to the beach. https://www.lovebigisland.com/big-island-beaches/kahaluu-beach-park/
  3. Mahlo for the tips! We sail in two weeks.
  4. Mahalo for the excellent review! I'm glad you liked the Big Island. You're spot on that it's less touristy and cheaper than the other islands. That's why we live in Kona! We're on the POA in March for spring break for the second time and can't wait. It's always fun to visit the other islands.
  5. I can see the POA from my office window right now! We're cruising her for Spring Break in March.
  6. Since construction finished on the the highway the backups have pretty much been eliminated. About the worst that can happen now is getting stuck behind a slow truck. We live near the Sheraton in Keauhou. It's much smaller than the Hilton but it does have two nice pools. It's about 8 miles (20 minutes) to get there from the pier. An easy Uber/Lyft ride. I don't know if they sell day passes but we've gone and had lunch and used the pools and never been asked to leave.
  7. There are a bunch of companies that do whale watching trips out of the Honokohau Harbor just a few miles north of Kona. Both large and small boats, depending on what your group is looking for. I've been on most of them and always saw whales, sometimes just right outside the harbor.
  8. Just off the Bliss on 7/21 and had a great time. It was me, my wife and son who turned 17 on the cruise. We’ve cruised NCL, RCCL and Disney in the past. Overall, we loved our cabin, the ship, the crew, the food and ports. Really don’t have any complaints and any hiccups were handled to our satisfaction. Here are the day-to-day details (sorry for typos in advance)… We flew in the night before and stayed at the Edgewater Hotel next to the cruise terminal. We used Aces Town Car Services from the airport to the hotel. They were on time, courteous and the price was very competitive. Great c
