  1. I am sure this has already happened to others and would love to hear of other’s resolutions. We recently had two October cruises cancelled that we had used FCCs to pay for them. One cruise we used an FCC from a cancelled May cruise and on the other we had used an FCC we received from RCCL for a previous cruise problem. It was like a good will gesture for a problem we had on a cruise.

The question is, how will they resolve the new cruise issuance of FCC ( we we will elect and not a refund)? My assumption is a NEW FCC will be issued at 125% of the base fares of the October cruises regardless that they were paid with a previous FCC since it requires payment in full to get the FCC issued. I can’t see them reissuing the original FCCs and then do a new FCC for only 125% of the base fare less the FCC that was applied. Make sense?

No, you only get 125% on any new cash you put in.

Assumed as much. And likely it extends the time to get the replacement FCC since the RCCL Accounting Department has to use their toes wit the new calculation.

  3. OK, posting this to all the savvy cruisers. We have a Cruise upcoming in October that may be cancelled, but we hope it isn’t. The cruise is a back to back with one paid for with an FCC issued by RCCL for a problem we encountered on a past cruise. However the other was paid for with two FCCs we obtained from a May cancelled cruise.

Question is if these two October cruises are cancelled, for the one cruise where we purchased with a FCC from a cancelled cruise, will RCCL issue new FCCs at 125% of our Base Fare? For the other cruise where we used a simple FCC issued for another reason, we would expect a new FCC at 125% Base Fare.

The FCC  I received was the total fare less port taxes only, and I had 2 perks booked on the previous cruise that I would want to replicate on a new booking, but am being told that these would not be covered by the FCC.

My original question was whether other people have had similar feedback when trying to use FCC, or if they have been able to apply this to perks when they are selected when making a new booking (not added on through cruise planner).

I have used FCCs from other issues while on other cruises fro RCCL and they are never allowed to be used for anything other than towards Base Cruise fares. What I haven’t done yet, but it likely may be the case is using some of an FCC for one cruise Base Fare and if not all used varying the leftover to use on another. They will a lot the FCC towards 125% of each persons booking and then apply it to the new cruise Base Fare per person. So for example, if your cruise was book under a second person 40% off sale, the FCC will have more allocated to the first passenger and less to the second passenger. So applying it to a future cruise will require a similar pricing or sale to get full benefit.

  5. The FCC is based upon the Base Fare you paid you paid for the cruise at 125%. When you use the FCC it is then only applicable to your Base Fare of the new cruise.  Giving you 125% allows you to consider a cabin upgrade from Inside to Balcony or cruise in the Summer when fares are higher versus non peak times.  If you paid for perks on your cancelled cruise those are refunded so purchasing them again is a wash.  Same for Port Taxes. Choosing the refund at 100% of the Base Fare is your option.

So today I changed to the same stateroom b2b. My question is do I have to do any packing at all or can I go out for 10 hours and come back just like and excursion?

Second question is if I buy water will the left over last the "change over"

    Third Question

Can I carry on Soda  /wine for the 2nd leg?

    Thanks

    Alan

On the wine & soda question, if you disembark between legs/cruises you can bring back soda/wine as they allow but you can’t double up quantities brining for both on first leg departure.

  7. We did the Overlord Tours from LaHarve three years ago with a group arranged through cruise Critic. As others have stated they are top notch and highly recommended. We had eight in our group and didn’t feel crowded at all in the van. We stopped at Normandy and American Cemetery, Utah Beach, Point Du Hoc, and St. Maire Eglise. It was a fabulous day and emotional. I did a video if you would like to see.

  8. We have been bumped by Charters on Celebrity twice. All I can say is NEGOTIATE. We found alternatives other than what they offered and negotiated. We are loyal RCCL and had cruise Celebrity numerous times. I even reached out to the President of Celebrity. In the latest we were booked on a B2B2B or 14 days on one ship and the middle cruise was chartered. I found a B2B for 14 days and asked to swap maintaining all my Onboard Benefits they had given to me on the B2B2B. It took some negotiating but everything worked out.

  9. Final resolution is done. Can’t believe it took almost a month to complete. Not sure at this point if the dragging was part of Celebrity or Travel Agent. We had a B2B2B on the Infinity and Celebrity chartered the middle cruise. I proposed moving to a B2B on Equinox for same number of total days leaving on 18th instead of 4th of January 2020. We had booked the Infinity for three Cruises as the Perks were so good. Oceanview for Drinks, tips, & $300 OBC each. On one cruise we even got addl $100 OBC and Internet.

I told TA and Celebrity I would not accept any replacement cruise without preserving all Perks. I suggested the Equinox B2B and was will to take Interior Cabin if rates weren’t comparable to the Infinity.

Results were we got Oceanview rooms on Equinox, Drink Package, $1,300 OBC but we did not get Prepaid tips from TA, but the fare on Equinox was going to be less than the total of tips for 14 days for two and some so we agree to take the lower fare and pay our own tips. All in all it worked out mutually beneficial to all.

This is a little off topic, but I am curious why you would book a B2B2B for a total of 14 days? My point being that if you outright searched out a 14 night cruise, you would surely be going to much further and interesting destinations. Like, a Panama Canal sailing or maybe a wide Southern Caribbean sailing that hits up some great destinations unobtainable from a short cruise point of view.

I also would love to hear of the final verdict. Thank you.

We have over 60 cruises under the belt. We have done Panama Canal, TransPacific, Transatlantic, Australia, Southern Caribbean, Eastern, Western, etal. We’ve done Norway, British Isles, Mediterranean and more. We don’t cruise for destination that much anymore. We wanted to see Key West and cruise longer than 5 or 7 days. The price was hard to pass with the Perks they offered.

They agreed to switch me to B2B Equinox but still working out details.

I know you had an OV cabin booked as a B2B2B for a total of 14 days.

Which replacement cruises did you propose to Celebrity?

I hope it it resolved for you.

Celebrity has agreed to switch us to Equinox for B2B in January. Awaiting final details to be worked out with Travel Agent. More details later.

In the same boat with the Jan 9 Infinity.  On Summit now and had brought it up to Future Cruise staff 2 days ago that no communication from Celebrity.  Yesterday received phone call at home, seems that there are 2 replacement cruises in Jan and 2 more in April.  My problem is that we are also on Jan 13 Infinity.  Deal with it when we get home.

Our easiest resolution would have been to shift sail dates as well but Celebrity has previously set up so many Charters for the Infinity there weren’t three consecutive cruises to shift too. You may find two.  We now question even opting for two consecutive Infinity cruises this far out as they are still likely to cancel one of them for another Charter.

Question...if X cancels you out of a cruise, will they also refund any non-refundable airline tickets you booked in good faith, and will they do all this...and this is key...without you having to pay for the insurance premium?

A statement within the notice of cancellation letter they agree to reimburse for up to $150 in airline fees domestic and $200 international. So unless your tickets are refundable you may not be wholly covered.

My thoughts on this subject are that IF you (the cruiser) can cancel without penalty, usually outside 90-120 days, then the Cruise Line has the same right...seems fair to me.

Hopefully you you can work out something that works for all...obviously the cruise line thinks it works out just fine for them.

Most all mainstream lines do it...

I do appreciate your perspective, however if you open your eyes a bit to understand the impetus for booking a cruise is based upon an “offer” the cruise line makes. Once you book you are locking in a contract to pay. Yes the cruise line can cancel the cruise but not your individual contract. You can if abiding by their rules cancel your cruise but nowadays not without harm as most good deals came with non refundable deposits. It’s a win win for them not the consumer.
