  1. If I cancel now, I would get 50% "cash" back and could book something in Florida for example.. If I wait and cancel in June, then I will get a FCC for 100%, but I still wouldn't have a summer vacation this year, as I need to take it in June. It's a gamble either way.
  2. Currently booked on the Joy departing Seattle June 20th. At this point I would rather NCL cancel my cruise so I can book another summer vacation. The final payment was due at the beginning of February so my money will have been tied up with them for several months. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of flexibility of when I can take vacation, so it will have to be June no matter what. My dilemma is do I take a 50% loss(2000.00) and book a beach vacation or sweat it out and hope for the best. I haven't even mentioned my flights and the cost to change them (American Air). What would you do?
  3. Great news! We board her this coming Saturday in Barcelona!! My last 2 RCCL sailings were on Harmony and Oasis, so it will be a bit of an adjustment to go back to a smaller ship. I would like to add that this is a VERY port intensive cruise, so it is not about the ship this time. Can't wait!!
  4. I just went to my bank and ordered Euros for my upcoming Barcelona to Venice cruise. I will have them in 2 days. I would much rather have them on hand before I go than try to get them there.
  5. I am about to take my second Med cruise in 3 years..we board in Barcelona in 2 weeks EEK!! and we end in Venice. One mistake I made on my first Med cruise was booking a brand new HUGE ship (RCCL Harmony of the Seas). We LOVED the ship, but barely had time to enjoy it and definitely paid a premium for it. We are on a much smaller, older ship (Rhapsody of the Seas) this time, but not worried since we will be in port most of the time. In fact, it will be less of a PULL to feel like we need to get back on the ship! One tip when looking for flights is to try to book through the cruiseline's air department. We used RCCL's Air2Sea both times and saw a very large savings. It was not more expensive to fly into Barcelona and then back home from Venice. Also, they will guarantee to get us to the ship if there are any issues. We were able to choose our seats and the days we wanted to fly. Like others have said before me, just pick one or 2 major must see's in each port..you will be overwhelmed with how much there is to see and also will be trying to figure out WHEN you can book your next one 🙂. This will be my 19th cruise and it never gets old! Good luck and happy planning!
  6. Yes! thanks for the info on tipping in Europe! Trying to calculate how many euros to get for my upcoming cruise! 2 more weeks! EEK!
  7. Thank you for the information!
  8. Just wanted to come back and thank Paulette for posting the e-mail for the dining department. I sent them an email this morning and got a prompt reply with my issue fixed. I was not able to even close to being able to get this fixed on the phone with customer service! Yay for Cruise Critic!
  9. Thanks! I just sent them an email so hopefully they can help us out!
  10. We have a party of 8 on our upcoming Rhapsody cruise. One couple did not know to request MTD when booking (the other 6 of us have MTD). When we tried to link the reservations we found out that they are assigned to late dining. The have been put on the "wait list" to join us. How likely is it that we will be able to get this fixed if we go to the dreaded podium upon boarding? Should I try to send an email to the dining department and see if they will change it now? I have never had this issue before and would like to avoid any problems. We have the 3 night dining package so I know we will be able to sit together on those nights.
  11. I will be sailing on Rhapsody in 3 weeks..Barcelona to Venice...very port intensive and only 1 sea day. We have the 3 day dining pkg. and aren't too concerned about the food in the MDR as we plan to eat some wonderful lunches in port (Italy 🙂 ). I haven't sailed this class before..my last 2 RCCL ships were Harmony and Oasis so I'm sure the ship will seem small to me. We did a similar itinerary on Harmony out of Barcelona and I will say it was a waste of that ship since it was such a port intensive itinerary as well. I am going in with an open mind..any day at sea is better than a day at work 🙂 We are in cabin 8544 which is a "spacious ocean view" and has a floor to ceiling window. Anyone had this cabin or similar before? We have always had balconies except in the early days when we had a traditional ocean view. 🙂
  12. This is our group's plan also. We planned to go to Nice first and then back track back to Cannes. Can we buy a day pass for the train or what would be the best option for us? We may get off at another stop on the way back to Cannes depending on how much time we spend in Nice.
