  1. When my LOs were 5, 6 and 8 and they had no issue letting the 5 year old join his siblings. It was a cruise during the school year so not a ton of kids. My next trip (december) they will be 11, 9 and 7. I hope they pet the 7 year old go with his sibling again but I understand if not.

You get 2 drinks per person and a standard buffet lunch. the tour agent rents out a suite on the ground level for folks who need a rest from sun and showers. We never used it. If there are kids in the group, their tickets include the drinks coupons that you can use.

Thank you so much for your helpful answers!

  3. Just curious I keep seeing the mention of water shoes. On my next cruise we will be going to Nassau, HMC and grand turk.

I know to bring water shoes for me and kids at the Nassau excursion we are doing- it says so in the discription.

But will we need them at grand turk beach?? Also according to these comments it is not necessary at HMC?

I would perfer not to wear them at all, I loathe water shoes.

Sorry for the question for which the obvious answer was a watch. I guess I should have said that no one in our house has a traditional watch and I was looking for other solutions. I am trying to avoid having to go buy a watch just for this purpose and bring one more thing along. But, thank you to those who said that the phone could be set to stay on one time even when you connect it. I will try to figure out how to do that.

No one in my house does either. I just went to the Walmart and looked at watches they start at $5. I was able to snag one on Clarence for $3.

  5. Lately 11AM is the earliest I have seen from Miami. No you shouldn’t give it up. They request you select the time that closes matches to when you expect to arrive so that Staggered Check In works as designed. If all the Priority/FTTF people picked later times and got there first thing, there would be a back log of people and lines will form.

Okay I see thank you for the quick response I appreciate it. I have never done staggered check-in before and i don't know why I am nervous about it. But I do try to get FTTF when my kids will be on board (although they are really testing me with raising the price. Thankfully I booked it before the most recent price increase!)

  6. I just leave it to the prepaid grats and put it to the back of my mind. There is typically 5 people in my cabin (small children) so our room steward is getting 100+. If I were at a destination vacay I would only tip half that. With turn down service being changed to just once per day I feel that is plenty.

As for dining I typically base it off the price of my meal. Unfortunately cruising meals are included so there is no way to calculate that for me. So meh, I probably would tip more if it was at my digression and I received good service. But I cant calculate anything sooo....

So no I don't leave cash tips.

  7. I sailed on the elation prior to the upgrades in January of last year. As PPs have posted no long lines (except pizza...). We did not take our kids with us to that cruise.

I also sailed on the Fantasy (with my kids) at a similar age. (2,3 and 5 at the time). Things we enjoyed were obviously the water park and the elation's recent upgrade the water park looks super cool, better than fantasy. They loved playing on that giant chess board. Putt Putting. Also We would go to the library and play board games with them and make puzzles -I know not a big great thing but my kids really enjoyed that quality time! We made the stuffed bears. My oldest won a trophy and was so happy (Still has it proudly displayed 3 years later) that she recently wrote about it in a biography for her second grade class lol. We spent some time at the arcade. And of course with every Carnival cruise lol unlimited ice cream, which has always been available 24/7 on our Fantasy cruises, not runny like I have read in reviews of big ships. This was also before the Dr. Suess Green eggs and ham breakfast/parade.

We enjoy smaller ships for shorter cruise because as PP says minimal lines as well as small ship so super easy to navigate.

  8. I have purchased air from Carnival for my last cruise and have it for my upcoming cruise in January.. I choice the flights and days to fly .. I always fly in the day before..

It was not more expensive! It was the same exact price as offered thru Expedia..

    Things have changed..

I also booked with carnival during my last cruise in January. I found the flight I wanted in advance called my PVP and told him and the price was within $5 for the 2 tickets as they would have been booked straight through the airline. I was also able to pick my seats in advance by logging into my account through the airline and managing my flight.

I plan to do the same for my next cruise as well.

  9. Also if money is a factor book early on a deposit sale - I've saw them go as low as $50/person. And give yourself plenty of time to spread the payments out. Final payment isn't due until 90 days prior to sail date. Just keep an eye on the sales because I see deposit sales frequently. Sometime for $99/person 49/person or half off deposits.

  10. We just booked our second cruise with kids, third cruise total, and are headed out next May. My only advice is book it during the school year. Our district allows kids to miss up to 5 days excused. I think our ocean view ended up only being $250 more per kid. With the kids I try to find ports that won't cost a ton in excursions because that adds up with 3 kids. This one is headed to Nassau, half moon cay, and Grand Turk. Thankfully I can do all those ports for free or close to it.

We also were considering NCL with their 3-4 guest sail free and also would have gotten the drink package however I really did not want 3 sea days and was not loving the itinerary we would have booked. I wish that I could try another line though so maybe next time the stars will align better.

  11. I am on the Elation cruise coming back on the 23rd. I read recently on here that Jax will start staggered checkin will start on the 28th.

I will be on that cruise as well. I am happy that it wont be started yet. We have to fly in the day of, I know not recommended but is necessary due to our child care situation, and should be arriving to the airport at 930.

    See you there :)
