  1. Good to know. Thank you! Are the safari taxis private? I had read about the public or "dollar bus". Are these the same thing? Or are they just large taxis? I don't mind paying a little more to make sure that we are able to arrange a pick-up time. I don't know if I want to risk taking a public bus on a set route with our short time in port.
  2. We are having a tough time deciding what to do in St. Thomas. We will also only be there from 7-1. In the past, we have gone to St. John and Magen's Bay. Thought we would try something different this time and head to Sapphire Beach. Will this be easy to do from the cruise ship on our own? Is there a fee to enter? We are trying to decide if we should do this on our own or as a ship excursion. We will have a 3 year old and the car seat thing is really making things difficult!!
  3. Going to Grand Turk in June. I think we may be the only ship in port, but also will be there from 1-7. We have 3 kids, never been to Grand Turk, and will be cruising with a family who has never cruised before and is very excited to go to Grand Turk. I have read that Governor's Beach is beautiful and not as crowded. Also understand that you can't walk along the beach to get there. For those who have been to Governor's Beach, is it worth taking a cab ride? We are looking for nice beach. Snorkeling is a bonus but not necessary. Thanks!
  4. We are having the same dilemma. Will be there on a Carnival ship in June. However, we are only in port from 7-3. We love St. John and really wanted to visit again. However, with the short port time, I was seriously considering doing the ship excursion for piece of mind (we did it on our own years ago when we first visited). Says no minimum age on the Carnival excursion site, but when I went to book it, it said I could not add my 3 year old:( I will have to follow up to see if means she can't go or if there's no charge. This is one of the 2 islands that we planned to do a big excursion, so I am really hoping that I can figure out a way for her to come with us.
